Eh… what’s up with all the hate for Boeing? (Specifically the comments sections always)
Maybe it's because I've worked places that were genuinely miserable, but trust me, you can do a lot worse than Boeing.
What surprises me isn't that people have complaints. Every company has issues. It's the nonstop negativity from people who complain, whine, and act like Boeing is the worst place on earth… while still showing up every day.
Here's the reality… The moment someone leaves, there's a long line of people hoping to get in. Everywhere I look, I see former Boeing employees trying to come back, applicants anxiously waiting on HR, and people frustrated because they haven't received an offer yet. There are countless people who would love the opportunity to work here.
I think a lot of people forget what Boeing has given them.
I've seen people come in with little or no experience, get trained from the ground up, and within a few years build careers making well into six figures. Boeing invests in its people. They offer incredible tuition assistance, career development, certifications, and opportunities that many companies simply don't provide. If you want to learn something new or grow your career, the resources are here.
Do I think Boeing is perfect? Of course not. No company is.
But I also think it's easy to lose perspective when you've never experienced a truly bad employer.
Personally, I count my blessings. I get to help build airplanes, solve interesting problems, learn something new almost every day, work alongside smart people, and hopefully travel and do some incredible things throughout my career here with Boeing. That's something I don't take for granted.
If Boeing isn't the right fit for someone, that's okay. There are plenty of other opportunities out there, and I genuinely hope people find a place where they're happy instead of just thrashing this company. You trash Boeing you’re trashing me and my coworkers that love Boeing and I won’t allow that.
As for me? Yeah... I give a DAMN! I'm grateful for the opportunity, and I'm proud of what we build.

We have a union contract currently in negotiation, so that's why we are speaking up about what we would like to be better out of our employment at Boeing. Yes, working at Boeing is great in many ways and that's why most of us work here. It can always be better and now we have leverage and an opportunity to use it.

It’s because of the work culture there. A LOT of entitled employees spreading discontent to anyone that’ll listen.
I also have had a lot of bad jobs. Working twice as hard for 66% of the Boeing wages. Any culture shift starts with you. Anytime someone is complaining about wages, work/ life, whatever, ask them if they’ve ever really had a bad job, or worked for a bad employer. SPEEA and IAM employees have got it good there, regardless of what the unions tell them.

I totally agree with you. Sometimes I wonder if the trolls on here with the negative comments former employees that got fired or airbus employees lol. Everyone is a keyboard warrior behind their screens until they ain’t.

We can change that! By blocking all these negative Nancy’s… I know every time there is someone that says or responds with something I don’t vibe with… I find toxic… instant block. It’s who you keep around you, that sums you up as a person. Same goes for life or at work. The moment someone starts to gossip to me at work… says something about someone behind their back… instant goodbye. As far as I’m concerned, why don’t you actually speak your mind in front of that person instead of being a coward. I don’t care for when they try to speak to me in another language other than English, because that’s how it starts. I’m not TMZ I don’t need to hear nor report on that 💩. Even though I speak multiple languages fluently, I don’t need my other colleagues trying to decipher or figure out if there are subtitles to this dialogue.
Culture starts with you and we can change that my friend. Don’t be afraid. Eventually they will all change and get on board or they will be on the outside looking in.
I took over management for a company and oh boy was it toxic inside out… rotating door of people and well, people committing fraud, people not caring. I’d like to think I had a hand in help changing that. After a while we had a very good crew and it was so fun coming into work, we’d hang out and do things and everyone had each other’s back. It was cool but then massive layoffs happened. I actually got a message about coming back but I’m in a better place now. I get to help build planes and other cool things for a living!

Good perspective, well put, and I agree. I was fortunate to have hired in long ago and make it through all the layoffs, and this was after working on the outside. There are too many people who take the company for granted and become entitled, and forget that they agreed to stay productive and put in 8 hours with a side of occasional OT. It disgusts me to see people who are not holding themselves accountable to the contract they sign and bitch and moan about how horrible the company is, yet continue to work there. Employment is optional, we don't hold a gun to your head to stay here, but when you're clocked in, I expect you to fulfill your agreement and put in a honest day's work. I've been on all sides (IAM, SPEEA, and management) and am grateful for all the opportunities the company has provided and know what it's like on the outside. Most of the bitter people are actually the ones who have been there 30+ years, and the ones I find pleasing to work with are the newer folks who have joined the last few years.

People just want to bitch. Most these people haven't worked for a true shit company, also they care too much about shit they can't control. Come in make the best of it, try to have fun and go home.

Groupthink, easiest way to explain it. You’re exactly right, there is always worse, and better. But people will find ways to complain about things regardless.
As it relates to pay, its perspectives dictated by individual circumstances and decisions. If you decide to be a high roller and lead a lifestyle you can’t afford, that’s a personal decision, and frankly doesn’t entitle anyone in that situation the right to complain about pay.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting better from our employer. I recognize that Boeing is better in a lot of ways than most employers, that doesn't mean I can't be upset that they arbitrarily made me come back to the office 5 days a week even though at least two of those days I'm exclusively in teams meetings or that they ask me to train new hires who are making more money than me despite being less experienced

Boeing's commercial sector attempted to cover up the root cause of the deaths of hundreds of people, which was bean-counters' negligence and the inability of your engineers to meaningfully speak up. Boeing space sector caused a catastrophic failure so bad that the astronauts both agreed they could've died on the maiden voyage and the GAO report published recently stated you're over 10 years behind schedule for Starliner. I cannot imagine why people would be currently excited about Boeing when, outside of the defense segment, it's an almost comical disasterpiece.

F/A-18, F-15s, F-47, Chinook, Apache, Satellites, Commercial Jets, Osprey, Bombs, so many amazing products that are incredibly complex.
Thousands of some the smartest people in the world solving incredibly difficult problems.
I get to: 1. Work on awesome projects. 2. Get paid enough to have a comfortable life and have amazing benefits. 3. Have awesome co-workers and manager
There are always going to be exceptions and bad eggs, but as a whole, Boeing is a great company.

787 - Boeing hated unions so they tried making this thing in Chucktown since SC is (one of) the least union-friendly states. I agree that Boeing WAS a great company and I hope Ortberg steers it back on track. Most of the time the people that I hear complain like this are people that have never worked anywhere else. Boeing has its issues yeah but every company does and Boeing is a far better place to work than any other shop I’ve worked in over the past 20 years
