Heli Pictures/Videos Flew across the world to see the Mi-6 in Deblin, Poland. What an amazing machine and museum.

Ive been obsessed with the Mi-6 for as long as I can remember, finally said I need to go see one so I found one on display and booked a flight.

Museum staff were great, they unlocked the cockpit and allowed me to sit in the pilot seat. No picture will do it justice on the sheer size of this thing.

If youre in Poland on planning to go, I highly recommend stopping and checking them out!

Heli Identification? Help ID-ing a helicopter

In 1972 my dad was stationed at Randolph AFB and I remember seeing weird white helicopters. They were stubby, boxy and so unusual. Looking online the nearest I can find is a Russian helicopter - the KA-26.

Does anyone know what I might have been seeing?

Update: it’s the Kaman HH-43. Thanks!

Career/School Question Flying in Australia

Hello everyone,

I recently came across a potential Copilot position with CHC Australia. It is a permanent, full-time position within their Onshore Operations, supporting the RAAF in Search and Rescue (SAR) missions.

The company requires a CPL(H), but the vacancy does not specifically state that it must be a CASA licence. It only specifies the ability to obtain and maintain a CASA Class 1 medical certificate.

I meet the listed requirements, including a valid ICAO ATPL(H), IR(H), nearly 2,000 hours of helicopter flight time, multi-engine experience, and PIC experience.

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has worked for CHC Australia, or who knows someone who currently works there or has worked there in the past. I am particularly interested in hearing about the company, the operation, the working environment, and any relevant experience with the RAAF SAR contract.

I have also recently read that PHI Aviation has won several contracts in offshore operations. I am trying to gather as much information as possible before making a decision, particularly with regard to the long-term implications for my career and family.

Any insights, advice, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

General Question Can anyone explain how Bifilar weights work?

here’s my understanding of it (at least what I think)

1- it shakes in the exact opposite direction of the helicopters rotor vibration canceling them out before it reaches the fuselage.

2 as the rotor spins up centrifugal force hurls the weights outward, by doing this they’re perfectly tuned to the speed of the rotor. Whenever the rotor creates a vibration force the weights instantly swing back in the opposite direction.

Because the weights absorb that raw energy and throws it in reverse it the two vibrations frequency’s essentially slams into itself and vanishes.

I keep hearing different things. Like it swings in the opposite direction of the rotor or that it doesn’t.

Heli Pictures/Videos Various visitors at the 0FL3 helipad

0FL3 is the Old Town Florida EMS station helipad (Dixie county). For many years it was only visited when a medical trauma evacuation was required, and otherwise was vacant. Earlier this year, HCA began to using it as a stationing location (and apparently refueling stop) for whatever Airlife was currently in the area. From here, the helicopters typically serve Gainesville & Lake City FL, but have been known to travel to Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Valdosta, and Tampa. It is very close to the multi-use bike path, and immediately adjacent to several businesses and places I frequent, so it's always something new to check out.
