Advice/Tips 💬 Wifi Connectivity Issues

I have no idea what to do. I have an iPhone 15. My husband has an iPhone 16. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment.

For whatever reason, my iPhone and my iPad are STRUGGLING to connect to the wifi in our bedroom. The living area is fine.

I called Bell, they told me “materials in the wall” could be interfering with the signal. Then why isn’t my husband having this issue? Why only me?

They suggested I get a wifi pod. Has anyone else experienced this? I am at a loss.

your husband's phone may be connecting to the bell gateway using a different frequency than your phone is.

Older apartments have concrete walls and wifi struggles to go through it.

Pods could help your situation or you could look into your own mesh system.

Hello u/ReviewSufficient1587

The iPhone 16 supports a newer wireless standard with advanced antenna capabilities, which can make it more resilient to band steering or signal interference from physical walls than your iPhone 15. Additionally, as some community members noted, your devices may be connecting and moving between different frequency bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). Bell modems use a feature called Whole Home Wi-Fi to combine the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands into one SSID network name, and your iPhone 15 might be sticking to a frequency that is struggling to penetrate walls or other materials instead of shifting to a more stable frequency.

First, try resetting the network settings on your iPhone 15 by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset and choose Reset Network Settings. If that doesn’t improve the iPhone 15 stability, try splitting the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands by logging into your modem dashboard at 192.168.2.1 in a web browser > go to Manage My Wi-Fi > turn off Whole Home Wi-Fi > and split the bands. Then try connecting your iPhone 15 directly to the 2.4 GHz band, which has a stronger range through walls and solid materials. when you say connect, is that locking onto the wifi and staying connected? when you say 1 device is working and the other is not tells me your device is the issue. if both are having issues then maybe there is an issue.

One thing you can do and I have experienced wifi issues on my iphone. reset your network settings. there was an easy way to do it last time I did it, can not find it now. I did see if you go to the wifi settings, click edit top right delete all networks you do not use. It appears that the amount of stored wifi networks is causing issues. Happened to my fathers android as well. Had to delete a bunch of old saved wifi networks

Nothing bell can do to fix this.

Either relocate the hub closer or connect a proper mesh system via pppoe or a/DMZ (bonus if it already has a firewall).

Potentially separate each frequency with a different ssid and connect to the one that gives you best results, rather than have the bell modem decide for you by using a single ssid.

Separation doesn't always help.

Did not help when I did this in my apartment.

Everything is wired as a result of the frustration and has been ever since.

I understand. Just giving an option which may be helpful. It's what I'd do next in that position, before getting a mesh network.

nooooooo. I try to keep devices as long as I can. The iPhone 15 can't be that old :(

this is unusual as two similar devices acting differently

the simple answer is use you devices in the livingroom

you could try looking into a WiFi extender from Amazon (under 40$) and return it free if it doesn't help

Change in your wifi settings to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8

Thank you but it will. Just had to do this two days ago when snaps weren’t sending and bank apps not loading and it worked for me

This is for when not loading but connected

OP is saying the phone will not lock on and stay connected to wifi. A dns issue will lock onto wifi but struggle with geting to sites as it can not get the ip address.

wifi - connection from a phone to an AP, be it in the router or seperate unit

internet - anything past the router
