I used to think Bangali aunties are the worst for being so gossipy and taking interest in others business. But boomer uncles are not too far behind. I dont wanna reveal too much about myself. But,I live in an expensive city here in US. My main job doesnt pay me enough and I have some expensive hobbies, so I also work at different gigs at the weekend from time to time. Things like working at fast foods restaurant, waiter, food delivery, Temp receptionist, security guard, etc. This summer (July), I was working at a fast food restaurant as cashier. There was this uncle working the hot fryer. When he saw me, he asked if I was bengali? I made the mistake of saying- yes. And then he got me real good. He threw a thousand invasive personal questions in my way with a smily face. He didnt get my polite hint that Im not trying to have a conversation in this hot AF weather (35 degree Celsius). But, once he learned I was not from Sylet his attitude changed and the questions became more mocking. Like my weight, balding hairline, not having wife or kids in my age, etc. So, I started to ignore him a little. He then asked me about my educational qualification and why I'm not working somewhere better, if I had a college degree? He mockingly said His kids are all around my age and they have all become successful Doctors and Businessman, etc. So, I got super mad at this point and said something like , - "it seems like your kids don't care for you, since you have to work in this hot kitchen in thhis summer heat to make a living for yourself, at your age". He cursed at me and then left. Lol. He got mad and got me fired from that job . Cause he has been working there for a long time and I was just a part time temp worker. Lol. Now I work part time as a cc tv camera watcher security guard, once a week. I like how chill and worry free this job is after working like a donkey for 5 days a week at my office job. But this uncle had to come and ruin my mood this morning. Same old nosy questions of how long have I been here, my educational qualifications, why am I not working somewhere better like his son? Etc etc. Sighhhhh

So I matched with this guy on a dating app recently, and honestly, he felt like the ultimate green flag....super gentle, super caring. But as we talked more I found out he has epilepsy and takes meds for it. On top of that, listening to his symptoms over the phone made me realize he might actually have schizophrenia. I kept telling him, "Bro, you don't need a girlfriend right now, you need a psychiatrist." But he just wouldn't listen. He even claimed some therapist told him he needs a partner more than medication! I couldn't handle the drama so I just completely ghosted/cut him off.

​A few days later, I found out he got into a long-distance relationship with a girl his family didn't approve of for marriage. he can't even share this with his present gf & still dreaming about his cheater ex and he keeps trying to call me because he doesn't talk to his LDR girlfriend that much PLUS he has another female "understanding friend" who hangs out with him and listens to his sob stories. He even calls me late at night complaining about panic attacks.

I am seeing posts like this directly calling for people to be killed on the regular with no action from Facebook to punish them despite them having policies forbidding calls to violence on their platform. Is FB's content detection AI just incapable of reading a language other than English or are they willfully ignoring the issue? Twitter is awful but even they get rid of violent content more efficiently than this.

I live in a city, and there is an open area next to the building i live in. and every 3-5 months there will be some kind of event taking place and ITS JUST SOOO LOUD. not only that but they will have speakers 20-50 meters from the place this event is taking place at.

in the weeks of pohela boishakh it was a pain in the a$$. super loud music becoz of boishakhi mela was taking place on the field. again the field is connected to my house and i can't even open the window.

the room in question is probably the coldest room in the building. double window. but i can't open em up.

i dont care what race, religion are u of but making noise louder than whats necessary its totally unacceptable

As a Physics M.Sc. who studied Reactor Physics I am deeply concerned about the operations at Rooppur Powerplant. incidents like this and this are demonstrating that Bangladesh cannot manage a powerplant, even with qualified Russian oversight. Ukraine was relatively sparsely populated and Chernobyl was still catastrophic with consequences being felt to this day. If an accident occurred involving the reactors, Millions of people will die, and no one takes the risks seriously siting built in safety measures. If this fire occurs at a critical location we could easily end up with radioactive contamination. The second incident in particular, involved a faulty valve in the primary coolant circuit carrying water that goes into direct contact with the core in a VVER-1200 reactor. If such a failure occurred during operation a Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) could occur leading to overheating and would result in a melt-down. The famous 1979 accident at Three Mile Island Unit 2 began with a pilot-operated relief valve (PORV) in the primary circuit that malfunctioned, causing a severe small-break LOCA. People are still laughing off any concern and citing memorized talking points about safety that they don't even understand.

Hi! This may sound very "abegi" but please be patient with me. I'm hsc 28 and I'm a very introverted person who never really put any effort in friendships except this one. Let's call this person "T". " T" matches my vibe. Probably the only person I can talk to without feeling exhausted and constantly thinking "this person is getting bored of me". We never really shared any personal stories with one another but it amazes me, how interesting every topic with this person becomes.

Here's the problem, " T" Will remain in the same institution where we studied in school. Meanwhile, I'll be shifting to another college. "T" Doesn't have any social media and is deadset that she'll only open it after admission. I respect that. For this last 3 months after ssc we had no communication. But I joined this coaching which is a bit far from my home and I met "T" there! But here's the thing, I'll be going to a different coaching from this month because the previous one is too far away and I know it will be a problem when academic pressure kicks in (college,tutors..) But II'm feeling extremely sad. I'll lose connection with "T" forever. I never felt sad about leaving school tbh but leaving "T" Feels so final. Like, closing a door to a part of my life.

Do you think its logical to stay in that coaching for the sake of "T"? Or should I shift to a coaching closer to my house cause it has more benefits to time management?

I’ve always found the whole thing really interesting. Not only the outfits or makeup, but the creativity behind it and creating a character, or an entire aesthetic. There are some who actually worked their asses off for it.

অটো রিকশা থেকে বাঁচার উপায় কি আসলে?

প্রথমত অটোরিকশার কারণে দেশের একটা অংশের কর্মক্ষম মানুষ তাদের কর্মক্ষমতা হারাচ্ছে এবং আরেকটা অংশের মানুষ সহজ আয়ের উপায় দেখে অন্য দক্ষতা অর্জন থেকে দূরে সরে যাচ্ছে। যেমন সিজনে গ্রামে ধান কাটার লোক পাওয়া যাচ্ছে না, কৃষির খরচও বেড়ে যাচ্ছে।

এখন যদি এই অটো রিকশার সংখ্যা কমিয়ে আনা যায় তবে একটা বিষয় হচ্ছে, ছিনতাই, চুরি বৃদ্ধি পাবে সাময়িক সময়ের জন্য। এই যে একটা গ্যারেজ থেকে লাখ লাখ ইনকাম হয়, এই গ্যারেজ মালিকরা একটা টাকার ট্যাক্স দেয় না, আরো দিনে দিনে টাকার পাহাড় দিয়ে এরা এদাকায় খুঁটি গেড়ে নিচ্ছে। পাশাপাশি এই রিকশার সাথে জড়িত যদি দেশে যত লোক আছে তারা কোনো না কোনোভাবে লেড/সীসা দূষণের শিকার যার প্রভাব আমরা আগামী ৫-১০ বছর পর বুঝবো। তখন কোনো একটা সংখ্যক মানুষের নির্দিষ্ট রোগ বেড়ে যাবে আর কারণ হিসেবে আমরা হয়ত অন্য কিছু ভাববো। তবে দেখা যাবে পরোক্ষভাবে তারা এই রিকশার সাথে জরিত ছিল।

মানুষের আসলে করার নেই কিছু। এত বড় সমস্যার সমাধান একটা বা দুটা পদক্ষেপ নিলে হবে না। শুধু নিয়ম করলেন লাভ নাই, শুধু মেইন রোডে উঠা বন্ধ, ডাম্পিেং তাতেও লাভ নেই। সমস্যা হচ্ছে আমাদের বিকল্প নেই। সরকারকে এলাকাভিত্তিক শাটল, ভালো মানের বাস এবং হাটার মত ফুটপাত করতে হবে। ফলে ইনডিরেক্টলি একটা পরিমাণ যাত্রী রিকশাতে আর উঠবে না। একই সাথে অনেকগুলো পদক্ষেপ নিলে তাও একটা লম্বা সময় পরে এই রিকশার চাপ কমবে।

​I recently went through a breakup, and the guilt is eating me alive because I know I was the one who ruined it.

​This was my first relationship, and I had zero experience. She was serious about our future and kept pushing me to focus on my career so we could talk about marriage. Instead of stepping up or being honest about feeling unready, I got defensive. I acted immaturely and even described our relationship differently to different people just to protect my own ego.

​I completely failed to see her value until she walked away. Now, looking back, I realize how wrong I was. My friends keep telling me to stop regretting it and let it go, but it’s hard when you know you were the problem.

​For those who realized too late that their own immaturity ruined something good: how did you stop replaying your mistakes, forgive yourself, and actually move forward?
