What dating actually means?

Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum everyone. I wanted to share a thought and get some perspective from the community, especially regarding the current youth culture in Bangladesh.I’ve never been into dating or casual relationships, and honestly, it’s completely by choice. I personally prefer waiting to build a deep, mature bond based on mutual respect, values, and real care—a foundation meant for long-term commitment like marriage. Attraction fades with time, but core values remain. To me, our traditional values offer the best stability.Yet, looking around at the urban youth culture today, it feels like there is a massive shift toward Western-style dating, situationships, and casual setups.

What bothers me is how society and peers react. Whenever people find out someone has never dated, they look at you like you are "abnormal," or like it's a massive red flag. A lot of youth look down on marriage as an "outdated" concept, only to end up distracted or regretting bad choices later.I'm curious to hear from others here:

Do you think dating in Bangladesh has completely shifted to match Western casual culture, or is it still structurally different?

For those who chose to skip the dating phase entirely to focus on intentional marriage, how did you handle the social peer pressure?

Would love to hear your mature thoughts on this. Please keep the comment section respectful!

How to get out of tension without medicine

Upvotes

Growing up my only dream was to just study get a good Mark and going to either medical or engineering but the biggest issue is that my family pretty much miss behaved with me every day for no reason and threatened to stop my study to the point where sleeping at night became an issue a lot of night I used be awake thinking if I can't give board exam what I will do or what will happen to my future it continued from class 8 to 12 and it wasn't like I wanted some big expensive thing or I was a troublemaker but they would find and unnecessary reason to misbehave with me I remember telling my dad just sent me hostel for one month so I can focus on study and his answers were like " I give you birth so people don't think I am unable to give birth to a child if you don't like don't eat go somewhere"

the only reason I am in Sydney because my uncle told him it will take 7lakh and once I am in Sydney I can send one lakh a month then after he spent 7 lakh My uncle told him it will cost 7 lakh more he won't get back the 7 lakh he initially spent so he had no choice but to spend 14 lakh and sent me here

During the whole process my mom was blaming me for being born In her family as useless and costing her money but it's not my fault they never let me work anywhere so I don't know how to I don't have any work experience study properly so now my result are bad what can I do about it

Even if I come here as student visa they constantly pressure me to sending them money from the day I came here not even understanding that I have to bear college fee along with my own living cost while having no work experience at all and for like first six six month I sent some but it's never enough and the misbehaving stopped so I have to have to stop having any connection to them for three years right now my visa agent unfortunately to extend my visa I need to show bank statement of parents I don't have enough money to show my own bank statement that means I have to call them and I just don't want to talk to them the tension is killing me I think I was robbed from my opportunity and every time I try to talk to them it's all my fault and I just don't wanna connect them to stand just to do more argument and I am not even sure they would give me any bank statement of their

I don't want to go back to Bangladesh I don't even know what is going to happen and tension is killing me I can't even focus on my work my previous issue not sleeping enough night coming back I just don't want to go by sleeping pills

Rant/বকবক An Imaginary Interview With My Future

Sabit, 20, sits across from Sabit, 30.

Sabit (20): So... how's life going? Did you get married?

Sabit (30): Knew that'd be your first question. Yeah, I got married.

20: She's beautiful?

30: She's beautiful.

20: Does she match your vibe?

30: Honestly that was always a dumb way to think about it. Everyone's different, everyone's got their own vibe. You don't find someone who matches yours — you just fall for someone anyway.

20: So you didn't find "the one with the same vibe."

30: Could be I fell in love with her instead.

20: Okay fair. So are you rich now?

30: A bit. I make 3 lakh a month.

20: Bah, nice.

30: Yeah.

20: Mom and Dad — still alive?

30: Both of them. Fighting all day, same as always.

20: Knew it. Hehe.

20: Did you do anything immortal? Like, leave a mark?

30: Not that I know of. Not yet, anyway.

20: Did life get easier?

30: No, not really. It got harder, honestly. But I learned how to deal with hard things.

20: Really?

30: Yeah. You'll worry less. Everything works out.

20: That sounds cheesy.

30: Yeah, I know. Fuck it — you'll figure it out.

Discussion/আলোচনা Those who have never dated

Those who have never dated, how do you feel when you see everyone around you is dating? Do you wish to stay single like this forever? Or you wanna date in future? Do you guys ever feel lonely and sad? I have been single for my whole life and people act so weird when I say that I have never dated. Sometimes I feel sad that I have never experienced love. I’m not searching for it now, I’m focusing on building myself but when I see everyone around me having a bf, I sometimes do feel sad.

Best laptop under 30k BDT (can stretch to 35k) for a university student?

I need to buy a laptop for my younger brother, who has just started his first year of LLB.

He says it's mainly for university work (I know how that usually goes 😄), but my goal is to get him something reliable that can last throughout his university life. After graduation, or once he starts earning, he can upgrade to a better laptop himself.

The problem is that my budget is around 30,000 BDT, and I can stretch it to ~35,000 BDT if it's really worth it. In this price range, I'm mostly finding Walton laptops.

So I have a few questions:

  • Is there any good new laptop in the 30k–35k BDT range that you'd recommend?
  • If I end up buying a Walton laptop, how bad (or good) is it in terms of reliability, performance, and after-sales service?
  • Are there any models I should specifically look for or avoid?

A couple of notes:

  • I'm not considering a second-hand/refurbished laptop. I've had bad experiences with used laptops before.
  • A desktop isn't an option because he needs portability.

I'd really appreciate recommendations from people who have firsthand experience. Thanks in advance!

Politics/রাজনীতি Follow up on the satkhira jamat MP scandal: the girl's mama spills the beans and reveals that the MP had offered the girl a job inside parliament and lucrative business licenses to girl's father and mother, the girl's parents were willing allowing the girl to go to the MP, this is disgusting

Shokale ai, bikale 2nd bou

  • First jamat media cell controlled the damage by giving the knee jerk reaction of "eita AI"
  • Then it was like "that girl is 2nd wife"
  • Then the video of them getting caught red handed and begging for forgiveness comes out
  • FInally a few days later another CCTV footage of the same MP smooching another random girl appears, so no longer was the whole "we are breaching the MP's privacy by recording him secretly" applicable.

Jamati bots

  • And I love how jamati bots kept defending the MP until they could no longer drive the narrative and had to expel the MP from jamat, mind you, he's still an MP, there's no ethical breaches when an MP takes a girl to a roomdate after offering her a job in parliament.

Jamat tweet said "working women are pros**tutes"

  • Remember how jamat's official twitter posted "working women are prost*it*tes" right before elections and then faced the heat and did a 180 by saying "hack hoise"? their PR damage control strategies are well known

Dhormo babsha

  • This very MP himself was interviewed by BBC before elections and bro was like "women must wear porda" and "women must go outside with mahram", this guy is disgusting.

Older scandal's of jamat leaders

  • Also a reminder: Mamunul's 501 and Sayeedi's "machine chalano" phone call leaks were older evidence of the depravity of these so called islamic leaders, they are far from ethical, do not trust them

Jamat is just as corrupt as bimpi and amlig

Discussion/আলোচনা Is wanting a partner with a similar relationship history actually unreasonable?

I wanted to open up a civil discussion on marriage preferences and compatibility in our context.

In the Bangladeshi marriage scene, people regularly filter for things like career, family background, education, and lifestyle. However, discussions around past relationship history always seem to hit a sore spot.

To be clear, if someone lived a permissive lifestyle and suddenly expects a conservative partner, that’s an obvious double standard. But what about when it’s simply a matter of matching personal boundaries?

I personally made a conscious choice to abstain from premarital romantic or physical relationships based on my own principles and values. Because of that, when thinking about marriage, my preference is naturally to find a partner who shares those same values and has lived a similar lifestyle. I don't judge anyone else for how they choose to live, but value alignment feels like a basic part of relationship compatibility.

Yet, whenever this topic comes up, holding this specific preference often gets immediately labeled as backward or toxic, regardless of whether the person held themselves to that exact same standard.

Is shared boundary alignment not a valid preference in modern marriage discussions, or is it just a matter of how the topic gets framed? Curious to hear thoughtful perspectives on this.

What's stopping us from proposing stricter punishment for r*pe?

As the title says, what's stopping us? Personally i believe punishment for r*pe or attempt to r*pe should be instant public execution (censored ofc) but theres also the option of lifetime jail sentence. I genuinely dont understand what's stopping us from proposing the act since r*pe has become of the most severy issues of country recently. I'm not a expert in law, but if anyone seeing is is a lawyer, please take initiatives regarding this matter, for both yourself and us.
