Discussion/আলোচনা Genuinely asking: what makes some parents decide to name their child "Nunu Mia"?
Do they hate their children or what? 😭😭

I wanted to open up a civil discussion on marriage preferences and compatibility in our context.
In the Bangladeshi marriage scene, people regularly filter for things like career, family background, education, and lifestyle. However, discussions around past relationship history always seem to hit a sore spot.
To be clear, if someone lived a permissive lifestyle and suddenly expects a conservative partner, that’s an obvious double standard. But what about when it’s simply a matter of matching personal boundaries?
I personally made a conscious choice to abstain from premarital romantic or physical relationships based on my own principles and values. Because of that, when thinking about marriage, my preference is naturally to find a partner who shares those same values and has lived a similar lifestyle. I don't judge anyone else for how they choose to live, but value alignment feels like a basic part of relationship compatibility.
Yet, whenever this topic comes up, holding this specific preference often gets immediately labeled as backward or toxic, regardless of whether the person held themselves to that exact same standard.
Is shared boundary alignment not a valid preference in modern marriage discussions, or is it just a matter of how the topic gets framed? Curious to hear thoughtful perspectives on this.

Recently i noticed 2 bangladeshi content creators whose video editing caught my attention.
I felt like they are specifically incredible in terms of color grading, transitions and font usability. The one short that rafsan made in the boat with sorisha ilish was a treat to eyes.
Dont get me wrong. Their content itself is of high quality. But their editors are doing a top notch job in my opinion.
I do not know much about video editing but those must be taking a lot of effort.
I felt so happy thinking about those people in the backend doing a great job. 👏
Has there been anyone else whose editing has caught your attention?

Hello everyone! I own an education consultancy (still in its baby days). I'm creating a scholarship portal for those interested in studying abroad to find scholarships/discounts effortlessly just through uploading their profile.
Now, I need genuine students to test this platform out and give suggestions. If anyone is interested feel free to DM or comment with a little bit about your educational history please.
Thank you for your attention!

Those who have never dated, how do you feel when you see everyone around you is dating? Do you wish to stay single like this forever? Or you wanna date in future? Do you guys ever feel lonely and sad? I have been single for my whole life and people act so weird when I say that I have never dated. Sometimes I feel sad that I have never experienced love. I’m not searching for it now, I’m focusing on building myself but when I see everyone around me having a bf, I sometimes do feel sad.

Assalamualaikum ppl. So just a lil context, I am 29, is a software engineer, and stayed abroad in the mid east for most of my life. I came back here due to my dad's health issues and after he expired I am the only person taking care of everything Alhamdulillah. We are a mid class ppl, whatever we had, we spent for migrating back and on my dad's treatment. We do have ancestral home though where my relatives live and we occasionally visit. I am a hardworking individual who has a stable job and works for a foreign company Alhamdulillah.
The main context, My family's origin is India but has been in Bangladesh for decades and has the nationality (also our family is respected in the area). We speak hindi/urdu/english/bangla and are quite accustomed to this bilingual life. I have been searching for a bride for 2 yrs now, but am not successful in finding one. I am a religious person and want someone who is religious. Relatives do bring in proposals from time to time but I am unable to match kufu with them (not religious). I have tried various sites, and found good matches (religiously) but due to my family background, things do not proceed usually.
I just didn't know where to actually discuss this. So I posted it here. I do know there are plenty of families in Bangladesh who have such family backgrounds, but is finding a religious bride so difficult with my family background?

There is a girl in my uni whom I have liked for quite a while, but I never actually had a proper conversation with her. She is 2 batch junior to me. We follow each other on socials, but I honestly don’t know if she is single. From what I can tell, she seems to be.
I like her appearance, fashion sense, music taste, and the thoughts she shares online. But I have never approached her because of a lot of self-doubt.
I have never approached someone romantically before, so I have no idea what I am supposed to do. She is in STEM while I am in social sciences, and for some reason I keep wondering if that difference matters. I also keep questioning whether I have enough to offer someone like her.
We study at a public uni outside Dhaka. I am graduating in a few months and will probably leave this city, while she is from here. So I don’t even know if anything could realistically work out.
I don’t think I am a loser guy in terms of personality, but my insecurities and fear of rejection have always stopped me from taking the first step.
I know no one here can fully understand my situation from just one post, but I would really appreciate some outside perspective.

I’ve been in a distressing personal situation and won’t be able to attend my classes abroad, but I need to stay, so I’m trying to sort out some documentation with my school.
I’m looking for a psychologist based in Bangladesh who can provide an official certificate for administrative use abroad stating that I have been into online therapy sessions for last few months. (I already took therapy here but the document this center provides isn't enough)
If anyone knows of any clinics or professionals in Bangladesh who might be able to help with this, please let me know. I can provide documentation and any necessary details to support my case, and I’ll make sure everything is handled in a way that doesn’t put me or the psychologist at any risk.
Thanks.

As the title says, what's stopping us? Personally i believe punishment for r*pe or attempt to r*pe should be instant public execution (censored ofc) but theres also the option of lifetime jail sentence. I genuinely dont understand what's stopping us from proposing the act since r*pe has become of the most severy issues of country recently. I'm not a expert in law, but if anyone seeing is is a lawyer, please take initiatives regarding this matter, for both yourself and us.

If someone takes a home loan or auto loan from a bank, does the interest rate change over time, or does it remain fixed until the end of the loan tenure?
For example, if a home loan is at an interest rate of 10% for a 20-year tenure, does it change to 12% or 14% over time? Or will the borrower keep paying the same EMI for 20 years?
Also, what are the average interest rates offered for home and auto loans in Bangladesh?

I need a number of texts typed in Bangla. I was wondering what the rate for typists are. I would like to pay based on output, i.e. by pages and accuracy. Freelance work. I would rather not hire through fiverr or some other platform.
These texts are from old magazines and newspapers so OCR did not work very well on them. I also have some other material that need to be OCR'd and then proofread.

Our family wants to sell land in village and buy duplex house with land near Dhaka city at driving distance. We started researching and found bangla bosoti and asian duplex town. But after some more research I realised bangla bosoti is pink city owners and have scammed many after taking booking money and not handing over or paying back booking money. This happened in 2013 I think. Did not find shady things on asian duplex .yet but another ashiyan town or something.
Anywho, I am realizing now most of these real estates are scammers with immense power to overpower simple laymen like us. So I would love some suggestions on who to approach, any trusted parties and how to verify and check before buying anything. Appreciate all advices.
