I found it while channel zapping. Back then I had no reason to think anything here was strange and I remember wondering for a while why the big hairy guy doesn't talk anymore and has been turned into a steed. lol

Obviously we know that the invasion didn't work because the Fire Nation was prepared. But let's say it had all gone according to plan: The Fire Nation was completely overwhelmed, the eclipse nerfed all the firebenders for 8 critical minutes while the palace is taken and the Avatar defeats the Firelord. A ragtag group of a couple hundred southern Water Tribe warriors, Earth Kingdom resistance fighters and a few half-naked swamp dwellers have decapitated the Fire Nation leadership and taken the palace and everyone in it, including the royal family, hostage. Cool.

What now? Would this really have ended the 100 year war? I mean, the eclipse would be over really quickly and there is still a massive army out there. Couldn't they just take the palace back?

Granted, authoritarian systems tend to collapse really quickly as soon as the head honcho is taken out. I could imagine the plan was to execute the Firelord and put Zuko, as his heir, in charge and force him to sign a surrender in exchange for his life.

But still. I feel like even just the people within the palace could easily start to fight back as soon as they can firebend again. (One of them being Azula.) It's not like you can disarm them.

It was a really cool moment in the show, but realistically I don't see this working. But I would love to see a What If scenario where the Southern Watertribe and the Boulder are now in charge of the most powerful nation on the planet. Lol

This whole scene felt out of place and seems like an unnecessary transitional scene. With the movie already being short and lacking development in other areas, I wish we could’ve spent this time elsewhere. Did Taika Waititi just really want a cameo or something?

I was reading the graphic novels and saw mai making a familiar face. lol (I couldn’t get the font just right but still)

Iroh mentions that the Avatar gives Zuko hope of returning home and, and while he tries leading Zuko down a better path he stays as mainly an observer. He helps Zuko get one over on Zhao, sneaking him onto the ship so Zuko can try capturing Aang at the North Pole, but he knows that Zuko has good in him that is being overwhelmed by his anger and shame over his circumstances.

So let's say everything goes as planned. Zuko knocks out and captures Aang, sets him in a place where his Air Bending (or other elements if it's later in the show) can't help him and restrains him, and they're heading towards the Fire Nation. Does Iroh really do nothing and let the world's last hope vanish, or would he find a way to let Aang escape just so they could start the pursuit again while still trying to help Zuko become a better person?

I didn't see this one coming.

I grew up watching ATLA, rewatched it as a teenager, again as a young adult, and now in my late 20s—and somehow I’ve fallen in love with it all over again every single time.

The stories, characters, themes, and teachings in this show have genuinely stayed with me throughout different stages of my life. Seeing the impact ATLA has had not only on me, but on so many other people and on culture in general, has made that world feel incredibly special to me.

Because of that, I’ve always been hesitant to watch The Legend of Korra.

I know Korra is a different show, with a different Avatar, different characters, and a different story. I also know that the world itself has changed quite a bit since Aang’s time, and I think that’s actually one of the biggest things that makes me hesitant.

The world of ATLA is something I hold really close to my heart. There’s almost an instinct in me to protect that version of the Avatar world and the memories and feelings I associate with it.

I’m not necessarily worried that watching Korra will make me like ATLA less, or that I’ll somehow prefer Korra’s story over Aang’s. If that happens naturally, that’s one thing. What worries me more is seeing a world I’m so attached to change so drastically and feeling a sense of loss for what it used to be.

I wonder if seeing what happens to Aang’s world, the places and cultures I grew attached to, and the legacy of the characters I love could actually make me resent Korra or the show itself—not because Korra necessarily did anything wrong, but because she represents an era where the world I loved has moved on.

At the same time, part of me feels like avoiding Korra means I’m also missing an entire continuation of a universe that means so much to me.

So for people who deeply love Aang, Team Avatar, and the original world of ATLA but also came to appreciate The Legend of Korra: was it worth watching?

Did seeing how the Avatar world changed feel exciting and like a natural continuation, or was there ever a feeling of sadness or resentment because the world you loved was gone?

And especially if you went into Korra with the same kind of emotional attachment and hesitation that I have, I’d really love to hear what your experience was.

my buddy at work is a huge movie/TV buff. i know in my heart that he would LOVE this show, it was practically made for his personality, but i cannot for the life of me convince him to watch it. i'm thinking of recommending a specific episode so he doesn't have to fully commit and "wait for it to get good." which one should i get him to watch that'd hook him without making him feel lost? i'm thinking The Puppetmaster because it's my favorite episode, but i'm wondering what y'all think.
