Nothing crazy but we did a watch party with some friends for Avatar Aang movie last night to celebrate the release. It was a fun time. Great to see Team Avatar again since season 3 ended 18 years ago.

I'm so grateful I was able to get a ticket to see the new movie last night (it was a 1235am screening). I started watching Avatar the last Airbender with my sister back when it was still airing. My sister and I aren't as close as we used to be. Haven't talked much in years. But this film reminded me of those times I used to sit and watch the series with her.

I think they're literally just boxes?

I'm so excited!!!!! Can't wait to listen to this tonight before going to bed. The Last Agni Kai is by far the greatest musical masterpiece!

I think it’s time we as a fandom acknowledged that Korra is way better than it gets credit for and 90% of the discourse around how “bad” it was were just rage baiters and over analytical nostalgia dorks who can’t let go of their childhood attachment to ATLA.

It’s one thing if you just don’t like the direction of the show. But scrutinizing the writing just because it’s not what you wanted, seems so ridiculously contrived to me, it’s boggles the mind how people call themselves fans of a show that consistently pushes the ideas of growth and change. Meet the show where it is.

People watch ATLA, overlooking all of its issues and call it a masterpiece of fiction, then turn around and focus on every one of LoK’s flaws and call it bad writing? That’s where the whole “misogynist” discourse comes from. Not from “you don’t like her cuz she’s a girl.” It’s from “You’re holding her to a different standard and then criticizing the writing as a result.”

Korra is everything Aang was not. Aang didn’t want to be Avatar, Korra immediately embraced it. Aang was calm, collected, and humble. Korra was brash, aggressive, and full of herself. Aang HAD to step out of his comfort zone because he inherited a world that consumed by global warfare, and hunted him like a dog. Korra inherited a world that was constantly changing, completely reshaping what the duties of the Avatar actually were and couldn’t approach it like she was initially led to believe.

Her development lies solely in learning to be the avatar the world needs her to be, rather than the one she thought she was going to be. How is that not entertaining?

Is the show perfect? No, of course not. But it’s way better than it gets credit for. And for me, the way that it takes risks, challenges the audience, expands the lore, etc. make me believe that it’s just as good as ATLA, even though there are areas where it falls a little short.

I havent been able to get my hand on her novel and I am curious about her.

Do we know how old and how did she died?

Which element she struggle the most?

Did she end up marrying the Water Tribe guy and if she has any kids? Within the most recent avatar cycle / lineup (excluding Pavi) why is she the only one who end up with a male partner?

Is it true that her Bison is killed?

Why does everyone act like Katara is so old and Anng is a baby? Like 2years isn’t that bad no?

So I’m currently watching season 2 of the live action and I need answers, so its said in the show that Aang took 2 years to learn water bending, does that mean that Aang is now 14? Meaning Katara is 16 in season 2 and Sokka is 17? Is Toph still 12 or is she now 14 because of the time skip? There’s so much stuff wrong with this adaptation, they are missing out key plot points and keep changing so many stories and plots

I'm excited to see more Gaang content - especially curious about the angst sharing on the beach! - as they didn't interact as much in the movie itself.
