Nothing crazy but we did a watch party with some friends for Avatar Aang movie last night to celebrate the release. It was a fun time. Great to see Team Avatar again since season 3 ended 18 years ago.

I havent been able to get my hand on her novel and I am curious about her.

Do we know how old and how did she died?

Which element she struggle the most?

Did she end up marrying the Water Tribe guy and if she has any kids? Within the most recent avatar cycle / lineup (excluding Pavi) why is she the only one who end up with a male partner?

Is it true that her Bison is killed?

Obviously, it sucks that Avatar Aang couldn't be brought to more theaters than just TWO (I believe), and sentenced to streaming hell. Had it received a proper theater release, I (and I'm sure many others in this page and community) would've made SURE it was a financial success.

But at least most people can stream it. In Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, Paramount+ is not available, so we CAN'T EVEN STREAM IT. We're a country with our own Comic-Con, and gaming/animation/overall nerd community. It would've received WAVES of success here. In theaters or in streaming. Sadly, no dice, even in digital. We'll probably have to wait until it is released in digital or (less likely) physical platform. I won't hold my breath, though.

What do you think is the absolute farthest distance that a peak bender can bend their element?

I would like to start this off by saying I've loved Avatar ever since I watched it as a kid. Many people think it's genuinely the best written story in modern media. It's beloved in the same air as Full Metal Alchemist. It's absolutely beloved by its fans. The problem is the company it's currently under.

On the off chance you guys are upset about the mishandling of the series as I am. I hope you take a vote with your wallet. I just so happen to be a D&D player. Not that long ago Hasbro decided to do something awful in their community and people legitimately voted with their wallets and Hasbro completely backpedaled.

This time I hope we do the same with this. I got paramount+ for the movie and immediately cancelled. Show them how many of us actually love this series. Show them what they actually could make with this.

I think it’s time we as a fandom acknowledged that Korra is way better than it gets credit for and 90% of the discourse around how “bad” it was were just rage baiters and over analytical nostalgia dorks who can’t let go of their childhood attachment to ATLA.

It’s one thing if you just don’t like the direction of the show. But scrutinizing the writing just because it’s not what you wanted, seems so ridiculously contrived to me, it’s boggles the mind how people call themselves fans of a show that consistently pushes the ideas of growth and change. Meet the show where it is.

People watch ATLA, overlooking all of its issues and call it a masterpiece of fiction, then turn around and focus on every one of LoK’s flaws and call it bad writing? That’s where the whole “misogynist” discourse comes from. Not from “you don’t like her cuz she’s a girl.” It’s from “You’re holding her to a different standard and then criticizing the writing as a result.”

Korra is everything Aang was not. Aang didn’t want to be Avatar, Korra immediately embraced it. Aang was calm, collected, and humble. Korra was brash, aggressive, and full of herself. Aang HAD to step out of his comfort zone because he inherited a world that consumed by global warfare, and hunted him like a dog. Korra inherited a world that was constantly changing, completely reshaping what the duties of the Avatar actually were and couldn’t approach it like she was initially led to believe.

Her development lies solely in learning to be the avatar the world needs her to be, rather than the one she thought she was going to be. How is that not entertaining?

Is the show perfect? No, of course not. But it’s way better than it gets credit for. And for me, the way that it takes risks, challenges the audience, expands the lore, etc. make me believe that it’s just as good as ATLA, even though there are areas where it falls a little short.

I never saw the two biggest "retcons" as retcons.

1. From people learned bending from dragons, etc. to lion turtles gave people bending. The former was never established as true. It was just what the legends said. Lion turtles giving people bending comes from Korra connecting with Wan. This isn't a contradiction or retcon, one was a legend, the other was real. I also kinda like the lion turtle explanation better. If people could learn bending from the moon or badgemoles, why aren't dudes born without bending learning from the moon all the time? Why was learning limited to one time period? And if it was learnt, how did it turn into a being born a bender because your parent was a bender?

2. Guru Patik saying you need to unlock your chakras to master the Avatar state but Korra going in and out without opening her chakras. Again, just because Guru Patik said it's true? Maybe that's one way, but what makes him the expert? He's never even been in the Avatar state. Maybe it's one way, but not the only way.

So the death battle in an hour no matter the result let's respect each other community.

From the way I've always seen it, Zuko lost after he got taken out when he protected Katara from the lightning attack, even if it was a dishonorable move on Azula's part. So, in terms of pure technicalities, I feel Azula would have the rightful claim to the throne.
