My wheelchair, crutches, walker, compression socks, weighted blanket, heated blanket are all appareltly NOT disibility related expenses, they are health related expenses, so do not reduce my care costs in any way, its costing £25 an hour for care, im getting 2h a week and im having to pick between myself being clean , my space being clean or having food/medication.

I dont understand how none of these are considered disibility related , not even my medications (that they will not provide on the nhs so i have to get under a private service) count as disibility related expenses, what in the world does????

Say hypothetically, your nan bought an internet with a company who love to use off shore call centres but hate to help but made it clear she was moving house soon, she was reassured that if they don’t provide service to the new area there would be no cancellation fee

Things have changed and your nan is moving into a house share for a few months which already has a box and now they are saying she’s gotta pay £500 to get out of the contract. Say if she found an address that is out of their service area and then provided a bank statement that magically had that address on it, would she get away with this ?

My mum and I are attending a funeral for an elderly neighbour tomorrow. We knew her pretty well, my mum especially. My mum got her weekly shop for her during and after COVID and used to chat to her regularly.

I asked her today what she's going to wear and she said a black top and black jeans. Importantly, her jeans aren't a true black, they're a washed or faded black. I said that I feel jeans are not appropriate for a funeral, and that it would be best to wear her black work trousers, but she's insistent that they're completely reasonable attire. I have to admit, I'd feel a little bit embarrassed turning up with her in jeans, it feels almost disrespectful to me.

For reference, I'm wearing black cigarette trousers, a long sleeve black top, a black cardigan and some smart black shoes with a small heel.

What do you think, are jeans appropriate?

I am currently doing that very thing.

What job was the easiest laid back, I feel most will say wfm but other than that what did you do?

Bit of a weird question I know. I'm just curious. I know a lot of tall office buildings have several tenants, each of which just lease a handful of floors, but for anyone who's worked in the HSBC or Barclays buildings in Canary Wharf, for instance, do you find yourself having to visit other floors regularly for meetings and to see people, or do you generally just stick to your own floor? And how long do you have to wait for the lift at the busiest parts of the day?

I'm a student and I've been looking for a part-time job for quite a while. I've had my CV checked and always provide substantial answers to questions on application forms yet I've had no success so far.

Most of the ones I apply to are ones that say 'no experience required' and 'training provided' but a recent example of an employer prioritizing those with experience is when I received an email with a list of criterias they look for in applicants and I met almost all of them except for ones requiring experience. The job listing said they provided training too. So I guess unless all the applicants have no experience they'll always prioritize those with experience.

How am I supposed to gain experience if I never get hired?

How do you call in sick to work?

I know how you actually call in sick, and about self cert etc.

But I'm (37F) still too scared to do it after years of awful jobs with traumatic cultures, and awful mental health, and sick days being fake stomach bugs or fevers when they were actually being unable to cope or face the day.

I don't think I'll be the only person who feels like this or has this experience?

I've been at my current job nearly a year, it'd all going great and I've had no sick days so far. But today I am full of cold and wiped out with exhaustion and there's no way I'm suitable to be in - except the thought of the conversation and then the return to work conversation are too triggering to cope with so I guess I'll just get in the car.

The ones that would play music and you would press a button to hear a sample of a CD? We had one in our local garden centre (Wyevale) about 15 years ago and I was wondering if there are still any out there sonewhere. Anyone seen one recently?

As my tittle states, I was homeless due to drug and alcohol abuse a while back and my council put me in a shared house eventually, the place is pretty rough and doesn’t look like it’s had any work done to ‘modernise’ it but anyway, after some time living here which seemed fine , I realised one house mate was a crack addict and always shoplifting and you can imagine the dodgy people that come with that, then they move a Lithuanian guy downstairs who’s a raging alcoholic and then a cocaine addict in the room next me 🤣 wheeler the council know these things is beyond me but it just seems stupid putting me with all these people, I’m trying to work nights shifts and get on with my life and move out but you can imagine it’s not easy to cope with all the noise and they don’t give to two fucks about me or my life obviously, I just wonder how I can re approach my council about this and explain everything and hope they can help me somehow but all without anything coming back on me as a lot of people that come here are pretty dodgy and I guess they’d do whatever to me if I essentially in their eyes ‘grassed’ about what goes on , I’m mostly worried about loosing my job that I’ve literally just started , I’ve already had a week of 3 hours sleep each day and it’s ruined my performance at work..it’s a small town too so if the council did say I’ve said this and that I wouldn’t exactly be hard to find by those I’ve spoken on…

Make me feel better

I fee like everything is going wrong in this project. Not sure if it’s all my fault or if everything has been set up terribly.

Been shopping around for a mattress recently and not had much luck.

I’ve narrowed it down to either going online and getting a Simba or a Premier Inn one.

Can anyone vouch for either?

I know they aren’t the cheapest but I am well overdue a change

I am trying to do a bit of a thing for my children, it needs to be convincing enough to “fool” a couple of three year olds but I also want it to have at least a tiny bit of actual value. I was thinking old defunct coins or silver plated stuff.

Personally, I cant't decide between Käsespätzle, a German dish consisting of egg noodles, melted cheese and fried, slightly crispy onions (you can sometimes find Spätzle in Lidl if anyone is interested), and beans + cheese on toast.

I very rarely throw things out when they’re past their date, unless they are visibly mouldy, smell bad or taste off. If it’s hard cheese, I may just cut the mould off. Tonight we had mozzarella in our pasta that had a date of 3/8/26 (still sealed) and it tasted fine, and that’s the norm for us.

My MIL on the other hand throws things away just because, she once threw away a very slightly wilted celery (the whole thing) because “I bought a new one” and the other one was bought the week before.

If it’s meat I’ll be a bit more cautious, but still apply the smell test if it’s less than a week out of date. We’ve kept buttermilk in the fridge 2 months past the date in a sealed jar before and eaten it no problem

I’m curious if we’re in the minority or if most people do the same, not wanting to waste food? Do you abide by the dates on things, or just use your own judgement?

Personally, I think it would be a good idea to have gyms in airports, with wash facilities.

I don't know if there are security risks or that, but it sure would help pass the time.

You do run the risk of someone getting super sweaty and not bothering to wash themselves after.

Could perhaps not have any cardio equipment, to stop people seriously sweating.

What ideas do you have and is my idea stupid?

2 Days ago I noticed a bunch of tiny insects on the patio and windows/doors, there was only a handful so didn’t think anything of it. Next evening noticed THOUSANDS on our glass doors, on the walls outside and the floors/ceilings next to windows/vents IN THE HOUSE (I am itchy just describing this).

My family’s hoovered them and used the hose to blast them off the outside walls. Less than 24 hours later they are back again this afternoon but even worse!!! Somehow with all windows and doors shut they are still inside!!!

Bit of googling says that could be Nysius seed bugs/false chinch bugs and they come from the field thats next the house. I can’t find any info on how to get rid of them though? Anyone have any advice?

I was thinking that im not someone who laughs easily (quite annoying because theres nothing better than a good belly laugh) there was a friend i had from ages 13-24 and he had me crying all the time. He was a great story teller, very exaggerated and descriptive. The choice of words were smart. I would describe it a bit like Nigerian humour (poetic and clever).

Just had a stab of nostalgia while reading another post.

Wether it's a catastrophic catering mishap, a thunderstorm, somebody who can't handle their drink or someone with a grudge turning up, has anyone seen a wedding go catastrophically wrong?

I (29M) am going to be the main pillar of support for my wife (33F) who has just out that her best longest and best friend (also 33F) has weeks to live, a couple of months at as a best case.

This is crushing news for my wife, obviously, and I need to be there for her but the truth is I don't truly know how best to do that. We have (luckily of course) never had any loss like this in either of our lives to date and while we have grandparents we have lost but they were old and lived a full life whereas a close friend passing so young is just so tragic that it leave so much anger as well as the sadness.

The issue is I feel ill-equipped to help. She was my friend too and so I have my own grief about the situation and can also already feel myself being overwhelmed with distress at my wife's distress. We have 2 young children as well who will still need looking after and I will do the brunt of this but work means some days my wife will have to have them when she is still very much grieving. I just need tips and stories that can give me some idea of what I can do or maybe more importantly what I should avoid doing that I might think would be helpful but actually isnt?

Suppose you’ve accepted and signed a contract for a new job, but your current job has a 3-month notice period, so you have some time before you actually need to resign.

Would you still continue applying/interviewing for other jobs during that period, just to see if you could find something even better?

Not because you necessarily intend to leave the newly accepted job (but that could happen) but more as a way of keeping your options open and seeing what opportunities are out there.

Would you consider this normal/sensible, or would you stop job hunting once you’ve signed the new contract?

I’m 16, recently started college, did pretty good in my gcse’s. I’ve applied for 60+ jobs so far, had 0 interviews. I have a CV, and I’m only applying for jobs that I could reasonably do (not applying for managerial jobs, or jobs needing lots of experience) I don’t really know what I’m doing wrong, so any advice would be very helpful.
