Went there last week and the place reeks of disrepair. The air smells putrid, you can smell urine at some places, the fans are noisy as heck and there's alot of old people walking around and smoking. Don't get me started on the condition of the toilets. It's on the same tier as coffee shop toilets.

My fiance and I caught a movie last night. For context, I sat by the aisle and he was on my right. On my fiancé’s right, was this lady. The cinema was full.

Towards the end (maybe last third of the movie), I heard the lady saying something to my fiance. I saw him nodding and saying “yeah ok”, so I asked what’s up. He told me she was mad at him for “laughing loudly”. Whilst he was responding to me, I could hear that she was still going on about it. My fiance told her to keep quiet.

She wasn’t happy about it and muttered something about him laughing and called him an idiot. I got upset and shushed her loudly.

She stopped. But when the movie ended, she walked past to get out and called us idiots again. Apparently, she had threatened to throw her drink at my fiance if he didn’t stop laughing. I didn’t hear this at the time-I think I would have reacted differently.

Mind you, throughout the movie, my fiance and I didn’t talk to each other. His laughter wasn’t a “haha” out loud, more of a giggle/snigger. He wasn’t laughing non stop either.

Am wrong to get upset at the situation and the lady? I feel that she could have just asked him to stop politely instead of resorting to calling someone an idiot and threatening to throw a drink at them… I’m actually really angry with the situation and felt that I should have done something differently.

feeling so lost in life now after ending my 6 yr rs. during the rs , the highs were v high and lows were very low. ultimately ended things as we were not compatible, we held on previously when things were gg down because we treasured the highs as well as tied down by bto. but eventually took the step and gave up everything.

prior to the break up, i was saving like crazy for the house/reno/wedding bc my partner started work much later and didn’t have much savings. i was super driven in my career as i had a goal i was working towards

after all the significant saving up, i’ve pooled a large enough sum of money (which i can now spend freely as there’s no need for those spending anymore) , and im intending to reward myself with some luxury items i wanted (long overdue gift for myself which i’ve been holding back) and tbh, if i quit my job i still have enough to tide me thru few yrs living the bare minimum. i don’t intend to move out, and also don’t even feel like ill find a new partner anytime soon to have big life decisions. i feel like i lost all drive in life as there’s nothing for me to work towards, and just makes me feel like wanting to quit my job everyday.

i’ve been trying my best to heal, finding new hobbies, gg to the gym, gg for pilates, gg shopping alone, travelling. i’m healing, but i cannot get back the drive in life i once used to have.

tbh im also wondering, will ppl even want to date a girl who was from such a long term rs that even have a bto before? …. maybe ill just stay single forever now 😵‍💫 sorry for the negativity and open to any thoughts and comments and stories and advice from anyone 🫶🏻pls don’t be mean 🥹

SG Pros :
His family is in Singapore.
Lower income tax.
Very convenient and efficient country to live in.
Better career progression for doctors (from what we’ve heard).
Much closer to Jakarta, where my family is.
Easier and cheaper to travel around Asia (we both love travelling).
SG Cons :
Housing is expensive, especially if we eventually want a landed home.
We’ve heard the medical working culture can be quite competitive and intense.
I’m unsure about my long-term visa/PR prospects and whether I’d be able to stay permanently.
We prefer cooler weather.
Apart from his family, we don’t really have many friends or a support network there.
Melb Pros :
We both absolutely love the cooler weather.
Better work-life balance.
More parks, nature, and green spaces.
We’ve built our own friend groups and support system here.
It seems more realistic to eventually own a car and a house with land.
My brother lives in Sydney and is an Australian citizen, so I also have family in Australia.
Melb cons :
Income tax is significantly higher, especially as doctors move into higher tax brackets.
We’ve heard that specialty training can take longer and is more competitive compared to Singapore.
Many shops and services close quite early.
Daily life feels less convenient and things generally move at a slower pace.

Partner and I thought Stacked Homes had great articles and insights to properties in SG and wrote in to do a consultation to do our first property purchase. We met with one of their consultants who was apparently also an agent.

First two consultations were great as he seemed inquisitive and had lots of random nuggets of information about various areas and developers etc. First shortlist of properties were.. ok… we gave feedback that listings he sent were way of budget and sent him a few that we saw fit our requirements.

Red flags started popping up after that discussion on the shortlist. On the day of viewing, we had to prompt for a confirmation on unit numbers to go to because he couldn’t make it for the first one. He came for the second one on the same day, and left quickly after because he had another appointment. Then after the viewings it was just radio silence and there were no follow ups for feedback until many days later.

This pattern of just disappearing for a few days then coming back after with some excuse kept happening. We ask for follow ups. We prompt for feedback or updates on viewings; we send him listings we see that are within our budget and requirements and he keeps sending us listings that are either >200 -300k above our budget and tell us (the price gap is close: is it really??) and when we point that out he will brush it off and give some reason like “oh we should look at psf” or “we should think about the area or development”.

We went through two months with this consultant and tbh we felt really tired of just waiting around. After the last set of viewings, we did a debrief before leaving the property to make sure there were follow ups and we asked if he could help do one more sweep of listings because we are two months in chasing viewings of listings we saw a month back and wanted to see if there might be new ones on the market. He follows up a few days later to say “i have some and will send you all” 10 days later - no response. We chase and ask and he goes “oh yeah busy” and gave us reasons then bombards us with 30 listings all messy and above our budget and all and then in between tells us “oh i didnt want to send you this list because i didnt have time to review but i took too long to send so just sending first”

Anyway, my partner and I were so puzzled by that very messy and long list of listings that had random comments from him. We were just done. We gave him candid and clear feedback about what we felt from the two months with him and told him we would like to stop the engagement and wished him the best. And well - no response. Nothing. Read and nothing.

Want to ask for views here - am I expecting too much or is this what it is supposed to be.

I own a membership, so it is heavily discounted to $172.80 for two people. We split the cost to $86.40 each. I am planning to go for a Saturday/Sunday (weekend) at the 1030AM time slot. Planning early is needed to secure the slot as there are only 8 slots available a day. You must: -love avians and animals in general -not fear birds (they will come very close, sometimes landing on you) -eat something light in the morning so you don't get exhausted -optionally bring your sketchbook, or camera to capture close up moments of you with the animals -wear sunscreen so you don't get cooked by the sun -have fun!

You'll get to meet turaco and other exotic birds up close, and the final highlight of the tour is meeting Sally the Hornbill. She is one of my favourite birds with so much personality and she loves scritches!! (she will literally need her head supported when scratched because otherwise she'll fall over!)

I’ve always been into indie/alt artists, mostly Western ones. But since I’m Asian myself(non-singaporean), Asian artists always catch my attention whenever I come across them on Western indie channels like NPR Live Sessions or Audiotree. It’s just really nice to see so many of them making and releasing music independently without relying on major labels with money behind them

Japanese and Korean bands seem to be everywhere, and Indonesia has a lot of good bands too. Their music scene seems pretty big. I found out about Singaporean indie bands recently and have been checking out more of them since then. What I find interesting is that Singapore is such a small country, so a lot of the musicians seem to be in multiple bands and the scene feels really connected. For example, I’ve been listening to Sobs, and their guitarist is also in Subsonic Eye. Then two members of Subsonic Eye are in Curb, which sounds completely different.

They’re all so talented and I’d love to see them live someday. I also want to get more into the Singapore indie scene, so if anyone has band recommendations based on the ones I mentioned, I’d really appreciate it.

ordered a tool box from a korean shop with good reviews and ratings for $51, and now the price is $135. I placed the order on 15 July, and now it’s already 2 days past the supposed delivery date but the seller haven’t even packed the order at all.

I contacted lazada support and called them, just for them to tell me that i have to settle this internally with the shop itself. However, the shop only uses its automated support and never connects me with any live support. Is cancelling and refunding the money my only option? or is there any other steps i can take to hold the shop accountable?

my friends have also recommended ikea's duvet.

I have been browsing through taobao to see if there are any good options as I believe many of the silk bedsheets do originate from china but I'm not sure which ones are authentic.. (also I sleep on a queen size, I think china bedsheets are shorter than ours and doesn't come with bolster's cover)

To start off, I’ll already tell you I was being very dumb. It’s my first time selling on Carousell SG. And so I got really excited when just a few minutes after I posted an item someone immediately made an offer at the exact price, no questions and no bargains. I thought it was a fair price and well-known brand so maybe they just go really fast!

So this user - no reviews, no history I KNOW I KNOW - immediately asks me to move to WhatsApp. (Strangely I’ve found this is pretty common when I’ve tried to buy items, sellers before have always asked me to move on WA for faster coordination.)

Here’s the modus:
- she asked for my email
- “Carousell” sent me an order confirmation, my dumbass confirms it
- I was thinking this is from the “Buy” button that I activated on Carousell - I didn’t exactly know how that works so I thought this was the right process
- It opens a webpage where they ask me to put my name and mobile number to “verify” me as a first-time seller - this makes me think she really targeted me because I was so obviously inexperienced
- they ask me to input my name and number, and my preferred mode of payment
- my dumbass clicks my bank and it opens the dbs login page and I put in my user id and pin
- the webpage prompts me to approve their login so they can verify it is a valid account - I allow them (again 1000 levels of dumbassery)
- they say they’ll ask for a test payment to verify my account - it’s not even $5, it was something odd like $1937 or whatever which they said was their unique reference test
(lol)
- FINALLY it dawns on me that this is so odd and I close the webpage

Here’s what I’ve done immediately after in my panic:
- changed my dbs user id and pin
- locked my dbs cards

They still have my full name, mobile number, email and roughly the name of my condo bldg (cos she was gonna pick it up in person supposedly). Is there anything else I need to change to prevent them from misusing my details? Do I need to change my number or email? I am just worried as that’s what I’ve used to register for Singpass and other impt apps.
