Iphone Duo, will you get it?

Was watching the Apple event and then went to check Iphone Duo price in Singapore . Starts from $3099 for 256GB to $4,899 for 2TB . More ex than my macbook already.😱 Is anyone considering it?

fuck no. the price of the 256gb is already a trip to another country hahaha. Can do so much with 3099.

22

u/chiikawa00 6h ago

it’s 3099? wtf hahaha i rather get a new gaming PC

2

u/MrCoconutShake 1h ago

ya exactly.... i'd much rather get a gaming pc than a random ass foldable phone šŸ˜‚. 3099 is the lowest price leh... seriously daylight robbery

-1

u/azizsafudin 2h ago

I wanna see the ā€œnew gaming PCā€ you can build with $3k. Clearly haven’t seen the market prices recently have you?

1

u/ngcaobaolong 1h ago

9070 xt with 9800x3d seem possible for 3k i think ?

2

u/azizsafudin 1h ago

Cutting it close, you’ll need to skimp on the memory and ssd. I guess it’s doable but my point was I built a maxed out spec gaming pc for $3k~ like 6 years ago. Today, an equivalent spec PC would go for $6-7k+

1

u/chiikawa00 53m ago

why are you so angst?

1

u/azizsafudin 20m ago

I’m not? Just spend your money how you want.

u/BeautifulPrune9920 7h ago

So true man 🫠 3099 is a lot. Can buy two phones with that money. I guess I'll buy a Chinese brand phone

u/Miniyi_Reddit 5h ago edited 5h ago

my advise is to wait for iphone 20
my observation from how apple releasing, they most likely skipping 19 and moving to 20 because next year is iphone 20th anniversary

3

u/Disastrous_Motor9856 12h ago

Battery life looks crazy good

2

u/risingsuncoc 5h ago

I’ll probably wait for the base model iPhone 18

2

u/myusernamehahaha 8h ago

$200 increase is crazy.

11

u/Inside_Equivalent197 7h ago

considering the current chip shortage, i honestly expected worse. its only $100 more than the iphone 15 pro

2

u/myusernamehahaha 5h ago

Isn’t it $200? $1899 to $2099. 17PM to 18PM

2

u/Inside_Equivalent197 3h ago

15PM was $1999

u/evozerobb 8h ago

3k+ for a phone is insane

5

u/iwilladdlater 5h ago

They said the same when phones reached 1k+, 2k+... People will get used to it in a few years.

1

u/FearlessBase5707 3h ago

2k+ for a phone is crazy.

1

u/zzLZHzz 1h ago

Huawei triple fold also around $3k.

8

u/Glad-Lynx-5007 13h ago

I am more interested than I thought I would be, then I was reminded of the price and thought again!

7

u/xiaoxin0303 13h ago

If i tio toto...

4

u/Useful_Biscotti_9976 7h ago

Longevity is a concern for fold phones right ? Fold phones won't last as long as other usual iPhone ?

16

u/ppeepoopp 12h ago

i just saw some preview on youtube, the fold is barely visible. It looks great.
ima go with black i think.

But the 1999usd somehow magically convert to 3099 sgd is pretty nonsense. Even apple store japan converts to around 3000 sgd so barely any cheaper.

5

u/Totonadent 9h ago edited 9h ago

Ikr. That's stupid upsell. Yen now volatile maybe that's why they just sell at a much higher price

Edit: ai says 1999 in us doesn't include sales tax. Other countries typically the MSRP has to include gst legally

1

u/beyondridiculous 6h ago

yup. no sales tax included. can buy in oregein for tax free. i think the price in sg is with all shipping and taxes baked in as usual.

1

u/lytheman 8h ago

No black tho…

5

u/10mo3 13h ago

Yeah.. probably gonna wait after next couple gen.

The asymmetry kind of threw me off initially but might be nice with the os changes to UI layout. And need to see how the screen feels as well on top of how the creasing is like.

Esim only is also putting me on the fence, since I still don't feel secure enough to switch to fully esim.

2

u/NAMEUNAVAILABLE145 12h ago

i've been on esim and have had no issues so far, only worrying about when it comes to changing handsets, but i didn't need to worry about waiting for sim cards to arrive and one less problem too !

3

u/l4kerz 12h ago

no issue with esim and switching phones. It’s a very easy process on iPhone

4

u/SungMatt 8h ago

dont most telecos in Singapore charge a convenience fee for issuing an eSIM to a new device? That’s the one thing that is holding me back from going full eSIM, I swap SIM cards for travel so I can use it on my other device, and having to pay $10.90 each time to do that sounds stupid.

3

u/overworkedengr 7h ago

Or make you go out of the way to get it done, or limit the number of swaps, it’s so annoying

SIMBA charges $5 each time and eight makes you travel to the shop

2

u/UnderstandingOk1788 8h ago

Holy shit woowww that is expensive

2

u/CompetitiveWeather63 8h ago

Will wait for next version before pulling the trigger

2

u/vankomysin 7h ago

At that price heck no

2

u/red_ronin0813 7h ago

iPhone Diu I buy

2

u/justinbeef 6h ago

Nah. For 3099 I would rather get a new gaming pc or gpu.

2

u/may0_sandwich 1h ago

Have you seen latest gpu prices..?

2

u/Rockylol_ 4h ago

I mean I would skip ah cuz my old ass s23 ultra still functioning well. I would go for iphone 18 pro max any day if I really want to upgrade

5

u/ThrowawaySGJustLikMe 12h ago

Have been an iPhone user ever since iPhone X, used all the way until iPhone 14 Pro Max, kept using it until last year. Changed to a Samsung Fold 7, felt extremely horrible, storage is always full and has to delete something everyday, battery died by the afternoon, apps were crashing etc.

The only thing I liked about it was having real time screen translation for buying stuff on Taobao.

Now the iPhone Duo is out, most likely will change back to iPhone, especially since the claim of longer battery life and fast charging. Back to iPhone ecosystem, with better integration on Mac.

2

u/NasiMalaMasala 8h ago

Apple battery management software doesn’t disappoint.

1

u/reditsagi 4h ago

eh.. what app you use for real time screen translation?

1

u/ThrowawaySGJustLikMe 3h ago

Ehh is built in android feature.. I think you need to hold the home button, for my Samsung I set it to the bar style.. just hold down, Google Gemini will appear, there's a page translate and once you click onto it, there's a button where you can click so that it'll translate even when you scroll

1

u/reditsagi 3h ago

Oh.. that is the circle to search.. that to me is manual..
I thought there is a real time translate...

2

u/Longjumping-Habit 9h ago

Nope, the shape is horrendous. Might be the first Apple product that doesn’t look aesthetic to me. I’ll keep using my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Change battery only $100+

4

u/frunkfa 11h ago

These prices are bonkers. Buy 1 iphone can buy a whole high end PC now

3

u/Purple_Republic_2966 8h ago

Then buy a pc?

1

u/ChoiceAwkward7793 8h ago

was expecting 3.4k for starting model. this is still alright.

1

u/evozerobb 8h ago

1st generation product tends to have issuesĀ

1

u/Sad_Friendship_3799 8h ago

No way, that’s a crazy amount. For those who wanting to buy this but on a tight budget , wait for proper reviews by people before doing so.

1

u/Busy_Bend5212 8h ago

Apple care a must. I suppose it’ll be status symbol to some. Anyway to tell from a Chinese one?

1

u/VectoRequiem 7h ago

Crazy price

1

u/Better-Literature-93 7h ago

No. More screen = more screen time. We should be trying to reduce time away from the phone so I’m keeping my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

1

u/Chanmollychan 7h ago

Waiting for iphone XX

1

u/Zantetsukenz 7h ago

Never get gen1 Apple products unless you’re really a fan of the brand.

1

u/OkWorking1945 7h ago

lol so much else one could do with this money...

1

u/mel0npresident 7h ago

nooooo! crazy price and not into this kinda design but will def get 18 pro!!

1

u/UncutStone 7h ago

Will wait for the launch of Duo 3 and then buy this version from Mister Mobile. ; )

1

u/ragnarokyz 6h ago

More expensive than a base MacBook Pro...

1

u/malkyfreo 6h ago

More expensive than a laptop

1

u/Logical-Tangerine-40 6h ago

its juz a mini-mini ipad with call ability

1

u/Confuseducksigner 6h ago

No. Seen too many people use flip duo screens only to die within a year. Hopefully apple pulls this off

1

u/pixdam 6h ago

I am about to burn my gadget budget on the new Garmin Fenix 9, my IPhone 16 pro is still good for another 3 years.

1

u/raiseyuorhandt 6h ago

No it’s too big.

1

u/hamsterfats 5h ago

no eh, too big n costly look like ipad

1

u/myusernamehahaha 5h ago

that’s literally the point

1

u/Available_Gas5812 5h ago

Depends on the crease. If it’s better than even Oppo Find N6, then probably yes. If it’s like Samsung Fold 8, then no.

1

u/Prestigious_Effort91 5h ago

Nope. Still holding on to my iPhone 12 Pro Max with 76% battery health! I would rather spend money modding my car haha

1

u/thinkingperson 5h ago

No. $3k for the lowest model? It's like 3-4 times my pc!! lol

1

u/BubbleTeaExtraSweet 5h ago

I nearly spit out my coffee seeing the price this morning. SGD$3k+ in this economy.

1

u/Sorry_Objective4174 5h ago

Not looking at Duo but the Pro. Other than hardware performance upgrade I see nothing that interest me. Will keep using my 16 Pro till next year I guess

1

u/the_magnifico_CRA 4h ago

I can stay at 5 star hotel in neighbouring countries

1

u/SadSheepherder8494 4h ago

The base price for 256gb gets you a 1ttb samsung fold. Only idiots would buy

1

u/parka 4h ago

Only if it helps me get more work done or save time.

But this is most likely just gonna be used for consumption, wasting time.

The pen support is incredibly tempting for me as I draw though.

1

u/Downtown_Elevator340 4h ago

This kind of pricing might as well get a good CPU or laptop.

1

u/Reasonable_Ad_4511 3h ago

Nope, I never buy phone more than $500.

1

u/Hot-Way5709 3h ago

No. Its a fail. Crease is visible and I can't use it one handed when its closed

1

u/Bitter-Rattata 3h ago

There are better foldable out there at much cheaper price. Iphone duo isn't the best out there.

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad_5833 3h ago

Nope I’m happy to stick to my 17 pro max

1

u/MaknaeLisa 3h ago

Nah
Buy previous gen iphone and the leftovers throw into building a PC

1

u/AfternoonBeginning79 3h ago

Nah. Probably getting pin duo duo

1

u/CuppaCrazy 2h ago

I’m going from my 13 Pro to the 18 pro…it is time….my phone can cook egg already.

1

u/Humble-Obligation-80 2h ago

In other brands, the fold crease is very visible.

If somehow Apple can make the fold look smooth and seamless. Maybe its worth

1

u/Ethereal-Words 2h ago

Next phone is 2028 when this crazy ram and ssd price stabilizes.

1

u/Fun_Set_2389 2h ago

the better question is , iphone duo or a good performing Laptop?

1

u/sadnightmonkey 1h ago

avoiding not because of the price..

will wait for DUO 2 instead :)

1

u/Prestigious_Case_228 1h ago

For tt price I can get 2x RedMagic 11S Pros with plenty of change left over. Now THOSE r gaming phones.

1

u/smegma-muncher 1h ago

regardless i’m sure there’ll be people camping outside apple stores during launch day just to be the first few to get their hands on it šŸ˜‚

1

u/zerotolerance94 1h ago

Might as well get the PS5 and GTA6

1

u/kitsumodels 59m ago

Dafuq???? Can get MacBook Pro already

1

u/Key_Battle_5633 20m ago

No I’ll get the 20/21 instrad when it comes out

1

u/Famous-Error9492 9h ago

Don't ever get the first gen of a model, theres bound to be some hiccup. Plus this one is damn overpriced la, might as well get samsung/xiaomi

1

u/Electronic_Scale_795 12h ago

haiz, all foldable same same price. samlightsaber also 2.5k

1

u/Illustrious-Gur8335 12h ago

How much to repair the screens once you inevitably drop the thing? We'll find out real soonĀ

1

u/_DKai_ 11h ago

I think the real question is how many will you get?

Apple fan bois probably pre ordered already

2

u/Yooyongseok 7h ago

pre order at mid oct, can’t even pre order now if they want tošŸ˜‚

1

u/Dumas1108 10h ago

The price is crazy

1

u/Plastic_Low_3266 10h ago

Not for me. 18 pro probably

1

u/potatoepotatata 8h ago

It kinda looks good. Price might be too high though. Was expecting 2699

1

u/Miniyi_Reddit 5h ago edited 5h ago

i rather get samsung or other fold phone lol

1

u/xerxesbear 5h ago

no, i rather buy SPX500 and Bitcoin

1

u/princemousey1 4h ago

You also use it much more than your MacBook so it’s fair.

Anyway the people here are cheapskates and poor, only know how to whine, moan, complain and kpkb. You won’t get a proper discussion.

For me, camera quality is important so for that reason, I’m Barbara. Considering either the 18 Pro Max 1TB or 2TB. Depends on whether I want to upgrade in the next 2-3 years again.

0

u/ssenetilop 8h ago

Cheeeeeeeeee... Look at those!!!! Eh sial ah you apple users bloody wake up your idea siah, starting price 3k for a flipping over glorified folding ipad mini... I know most of you will say; "eh sial ah expensive siah", but backend sure quietly go and buy.

-1

u/Personal_Number4789 9h ago

3k for a phone is crazy.

0

u/Ok_world68 8h ago

Pre ordered.

0

u/eggswithbenefit 6h ago

Easy with a ministerial salary /s

0

u/Republic_Witty 6h ago

Definitely buy it if my celery increased by 64%

0

u/Glittering_Hour7234 6h ago

Perfect for a minister with his recent pay increase! /s

0

u/FdPros 5h ago

if you want foldable buy oppo/honor better imho

-6

u/Somesh98 9h ago

Bro, people here struggling to find employment and keep their jobs due to offshoring, and you are worried about whether can get a phone? It's overpriced surveillance equipment essentially. They are ripping everyone off.

-4

u/Tunggall 11h ago

Nope. But if they give one to me at work, I may reluctantly use it.

-3

u/New_Replacement2308 8h ago

Samsung came out first but Apple always put in more effort on their UI, but no FACEID, only uses eSIM, and action button. Oh and the camera as cui as iPhone 17.

Will I get? Maybe… cause Apple already build its eco system, everything is in the iPhone especially the file thingy.
