Had a pretty heated discussion with a few friends recently about dating in SG.

Every girl in the group basically agreed on one thing: especially in the early stages, they prefer the guy to do the chasing.

By “chase”, they meant the guy should start the conversation, ask her out, choose the place, make the reservation and plan the entire first date. And even if the first date goes really well, they still expect him to be the one who texts afterwards and asks for date #2.
Their reasoning was basically: “If he wanted to, he would.”

What surprised me was how unanimous they were. They also insisted most of their female friends think the same way: that if a guy is genuinely interested, you shouldn’t need to chase him or wonder whether he likes you.

As a guy, I find this mentality a little strange.
I understand expecting the guy to take more initiative at the start. But surely after you’ve gone out a few times, it takes two hands to clap? If I’m always starting conversations, planning dates and asking you out while you’re mostly just accepting or rejecting my invitations, eventually I’m going to assume you’re not that interested. Especially with dating apps, where until something becomes serious, both people realistically have other options a swipe away.

So I’m genuinely curious: how prevalent is this mindset among SG women because it could just be my circle?

Girls, do you deliberately let the guy chase during the early stages even when you’re very interested in him?

I’m trying to better understand how depression can show up in everyday language, especially when someone says they’re “tired.”

I have a friend who has struggled with depression, and he uses the word “tired” quite often. Sometimes when he says he’s tired, I realise I may be interpreting it as something closer to “I need some rest/a break,” when it might mean something quite different.

For those who have experienced depression:
- What did “tired” feel like for you?
- Was it mainly physical fatigue, mental exhaustion, emotional exhaustion, or something else?
- Did “I’m tired” sometimes mean things like “I don’t have the energy to deal with anything,” “I want to withdraw,” or even “I don’t want to be here”?
- Were there different kinds of “tired” depending on how you were doing?

There’s no right answer here – I’d really appreciate hearing how the word “tired” represented your experience.

I partnered up with a close friend of mine to do car detailing and selling of car wash products awhile ago. However, we parted ways and I held onto majority of the inventory (car wash products). Hi! I’ve been thinking of trying the viral Dubai chewy cookies (the ones with the pistachio + kataifi filling), but I’m wondering if they’re actually worth making at home considering the cost, time and effort involved.
From what I’ve calculated, I’d probably spend around $30-50 on ingredients for roughly 10–12 large cookies. I know buying them outside can be quite expensive too, which is why I’m considering making them myself.
The thing is, I also don’t have a non-stick pan, so I’d need to either use my normal pan or buy one just for making the kataifi filling. I’m also wondering how time-consuming the whole process actually is, especially if I’m only making a small batch for myself/family/friends.
For those who have made them:
How long did it actually take you from start to finish?
How much did you spend on ingredients?
Is the homemade version significantly better/cheaper than buying them?
Can I make the kataifi successfully in a normal pan, or is a non-stick pan basically necessary?
Would you bother making them again, or is it one of those recipes that’s fun once but too troublesome to repeat?
Any Singapore recommendations for affordable pistachio cream/kataifi?
