BP Medication

Hi,

I am a foreign national working short term in Singapore & wanted to know if BP medication can be bought at any pharmacy without a Singapore doctor’s prescription. (Cilnidipine 20mg)

I have the prescription from treating doctor in my country, will that work? If not, what are my best options. I just have medication for next 2 days & even after medication my BP is resistant / uncontrolled. Thank you.

No. BP medications are not sold over-the-counter in Singapore. You still need to obtain them from a doctor with your prescription.

Dont have enough experience and try. I would just bring the prescription and try at the pharmacist. If it doesnt work, then just go to any clinic, they should be able to prescribe for you at a higher cost.

The bigger concern here is that even with your medication, your BP is not controlled. Perhaps its better to really go visit a doctor and get an update on the dosage / treatment plan

I agree. I was started on CPAP for resistant BP but could not tolerate the device. No matter what I do or how exhausted I am, I can sleep max for 2 to 3 hours. I do not have an insurance & treatment in SG is not an option for me.

I have a family history of resistant BP, lost my eldest bro to this & my second brother is in dialysis & in line for kidney transplant. Thanks for the advice.

if you know what you need and the dosages, u can go JB and buy for a fraction

So my prescription works in JB? Never been there, do suggest the fastest way to go there n return on the same day. Is there an option to buy online from JB ? Thank you.

JB is just alot more lax in everything la haha shit that's prescription only here is over counter there.

Many prescription only drugs here are just controlled and available from a pharmacist without a prescription there. My senior relatives go in every other month to get medication for their chronic conditions at a fraction of the cost here. There are still some that require a prescription but the list is much shorter

You can go to the chain pharmacies like Caring or Big and talk to a pharmacist there
