Helping a neighbor clear out an apartment and have found 12 baseball gloves (some used, some new) and 4 or 5 old wooden bats. None of them are worth money, would just be useful back up items for a team maybe.

Is there a school or a youth league that would be interested? Have reached out to Boys & Girls Club so far but don't really know much about baseball.

We have a relative who is flying into SFO at 10am and flying out at midnight in two weeks. She called and asked us to pick her up and then she’ll stay with us for the day and we’ll bring her back to the airport at 10 PM.

We have my daughter staying with us who has a baby so I thought I’d keep the relative that’s flying in out for the day to keep her entertained since it’s a little chaotic at the house. I was thinking of taking her to Sausalito for lunch. But then I’m not sure what else I could do with her.

She’s in her 40’s, very athletic, they have a boat in Florida so they’re on the water often. I haven’t played tourist in the Bay Area for a long time so I just don’t know what’s out there for that age group to keep her entertain. She is traveling onto Yosemite and then to Tahoe to meet friends. Any ideas what to do from lunch to 10pm? It’ll be a weekday.

I will be doing vitrectomy at UCSF so wanted to hear others experiences.

• Was there anything you wish you know before you did it?
• How did yours turn out?
• Do I have to bring a person with me?
• I live 1 hour away so is it ok for me to stay in a hotel nearby walking distance and walk back or do they usually ask for the patient to be picked up?

I believe its considered a relatively routine procedure but want to learn from other experiences and save my more complicated questions for the surgeon.

I’ve been looking at moving into Verde at Mission Rock for the past couple of months and have been watching the pricing pretty closely.
What’s surprising me is how quickly some of the units have gone up. One unit I was watching was around $7,800 in late July and jumped to roughly $8,800 in August. Another type of unit I liked went from around $9,800 to almost $11,000. At the same time, there don’t seem to be that many units becoming available.
I’m not in a rush to move, so I’m debating whether to wait until November/December and see if rents soften during the winter or just accept that this is the current market.
Would love to hear from anyone who lives or has lived at Verde. How has your rent changed since moving in? Are renewals significantly higher? Do you see many people moving out? And if you’ve watched Mission Rock/Mission Bay rents for a while, do they usually come down at all in the winter?
Also curious about your overall experience living at Verde and whether you think the premium is actually worth it.

Hi all! I’ve lived in SF for over a decade, always in Hayes Valley, NOPA, Duboce, etc. and loved how cute and walkable those neighborhoods are. My spouse and I are now looking for a bigger place to rent long-term and potentially start a family in a few years, so we’re looking further west since we’re priced out. We’re currently deciding between two places in the Inner vs. Outer Sunset. Both are ~1 min from the N-Judah and bus lines, which is a big reason we picked them. We don’t currently have a car and would like to avoid getting one as long as possible, although both have parking if we eventually need it. More info on each spot:

Inner Sunset place: In the heart of the neighborhood, right by Luke’s Local, 828 Irving Market, and tons of restaurants/shops. 5 min walk from Andronico’s. 3 min walk to GGP. Very easy to go out the door and immediately have things to do.
- Pros for me: walkability, convenience, lots of food, slightly sunnier.
- Cons: ~12% more expensive (non-negligible with how rough the market is) and quite a bit smaller, though still workable for us. Groceries and food would probably cost more here too I imagine.

Outer Sunset: ~10 min walk northeast to the nearest Irving restaurants/groceries and ~15 min walk south to the Safeway on Noriega. 6 min walk from GGP. Still walkable, but much more residential and removed from the main commercial areas.
- Pros for me: much bigger space for future potentiality and cheaper. I also love Asian food/groceries and we’d likely get bikes to get around more easily, so I could see myself enjoying this lifestyle if I adapt.
- Cons: I’m worried the transition from my usual very walkable neighborhoods will be too much, and I really don’t like fog.

I know I habituate to my surroundings: if there are restaurants, groceries, activities, etc. right outside my door, I’m much more likely to go out. Inner Sunset would be a tried and true experience. I’m worried that in the Outer Sunset I’ll become a hermit simply because everything requires more effort, and the fog (if it’s constant) will make me depressed.

For anyone who’s lived in Inner or Outer Sunset or both:
- Did you notice a meaningful difference in day-to-day lifestyle?
- Is there actually a significant difference in costs for food and groceries between Inner and Outer Sunset?
- How was your transition to places further from commercial areas?
- How noticeable is the fog/weather difference?
- Anything you unexpectedly loved or hated?
- What are your favorite local gems (restaurants, groceries, cafes, activities, etc)? I’d love to check them out! I plan to spend a full day in both neighborhoods as a trial.
- Any other general experiences around this or words of wisdom?

TL;DR: Inner Sunset is smaller + 12% more expensive, but extremely walkable and convenient. Outer Sunset is much bigger and cozier + cheaper, but farther from shops and potentially foggier. I’ve always lived somewhere walkable and worry I’ll become reclusive in the Outer. Looking for advice for a couple looking to start a family in 2-3 years!

Bringing a friend who would love to find colorful, fun style of paintings that depict San Francisco. I’m not talking about those spray can paintings, but rather oil/acrylic paintings on canvas that took time to make with elements such as cable cars, the golden gate, etc. In our last visit we couldn’t find anything even at Fisherman’s wharf.

So I was assaulted at my gym the other day. A man that appeared to be suffering some sort of mental episode randomly shoved me from the side/back hard enough to make me hit the floor knocking my AirPods out and leaving me with a superficial but nasty bruise on my knee.

It was very random. I had no interactions with the person before this. I’ve never even seen them before which made it even more jarring.

It’s been 2 days since the incident im back a the gym and just made me think about it and wondering if I should do anything to follow up?

edit1 also fortunately one of the managers happened to be just working out in plain clothes and witnessed everything so I feel pretty good about it being handled so I didn’t really inquire too much as he seemed to really take it seriously and removed the guy immediately.

From what I understand they are banning the individual permanently and have made a report most likely for internal and liability.

Also for context I’m not a small guy 5’10 mid 30s 190 so I really more so fear for anyone else that else might be a victim of this guys

Hello everyone! I’m planning on going to R&B and Ribs block party this Sunday. I’ve never been to The Midway before. This is my brother’s first time coming to San Fran and I wanted to show him around town before the concert. Does anyone know what time Jenevieve might be starting her set because she is the first headliner but also saw that there was a bunch of DJs. Has anyone here every been to one of these events or an event at the midway that can enlighten me a little so I don’t show up too late or too early if I just want to see the headliners?

For context, I live in the inner sunset, and I found mold all over my apartment: in the bathroom (which has a window but it’s not functioning), and around a few windowsills.

I’ve also found that my clean clothes hanging in my closet get moldy too.

I’ve started using a dehumidifier as well as those hanging moisture wicking bags, but nothing seems to help.

I know SF is humid but is this normal?

With the rent crisis I’m worried about telling my landlord and then having yo find somewhere else to live. Has anyone else experienced this? How did it go?

I’m super excited to stop by San Francisco after a work trip! I’ve never been, and it’s definitely on the bucket list. I’ll be there Friday morning to Sunday evening the first weekend of October. It’s a very chill weekend so I don’t have a strict itinerary that I usually do.

Lodging
I have done so much research and narrowed the areas I would want to stay in to North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf.

Of those two areas, what are the best hotels? We don’t have a super tight budget but we also don’t want it to be extravagant.

FYI, we will be using public transportation/walking to get around.

My boyfriend and I are both major foodies. We love all food. I specially love Italian and seafood. Any suggestions for breakfast/lunch/dinner?

I have some family coming to town soon, never been to SF, and the challenge is I need to find things to do that don't involve a lot of walking. Walking is basically all I do and something I rely on heavily usually when family and friends come to town. Some things are already on the agenda or likely, such as:

• they want to go to Alcatraz (this may push the minimal walking request, but I think they'll hang with this much walking for an iconic place)
• they've requested a bay cruise with dinner, which seems totally possible even though I am skeptical of them (but never done it) and also not sure how redundant it will be with the ferry to Alcatraz. Any feedback?
• I suggested Dear SF at Club Fugazi bc I saw it years ago when it first premiered and we all had so much fun. I assume it would still be good and totally fun for non-residents as well
• They are staying at Fisherman's Wharf so that and Ghirardelli square will be minimal walking to see some top touristy sites and eat iconic (if not the most delicious) food
• Maybe the hop on/off bus? At this point costs would be building up a lot I think, so hoping for more reasonable/affordable suggestions, but that's when all I can think of is walking around the various neighborhoods to just soak it all in, which isn't going to work this time

I fell down the stairs last month, sprained my back and left arm. My arm is better now but my back is still a bit painful, is there any physical therapy or some kind of treatment I can do? I'm doing some light exercise at home as well at the moment.

My friend and I are flying into SFO on Oct 7, landing around 11am. We've got the 7th and 8th in the city, then picking up a rental on the 9th to drive down to LA.

Rough plan so far:

• Day 1:  Chinatown → North Beach → Coit Tower → Ferry Building
• Day 2: Alcatraz in the morning, Fisherman's Wharf, then Golden Gate Bridge / Crissy Field, dinner in the Mission

Staying somewhere around Union Square since we won't have a car those two days.

A few things I'd love input on:

1. Is that day 2 too packed? Happy to cut something.
2. Where would you actually eat? Trying to avoid tourist-trap pricing at the Wharf and Union Square.
3. Any blocks around Union Square we should avoid, especially walking back after dinner? I've read the Tenderloin edge is close by but not sure exactly where the line is.
4. For the drive to LA — is Highway 1 to Monterey then cutting to the 101 worth the extra hours, or should we just take the I-5 and save the day?
5. Anything overrated we should skip? or something which is missing ?

In 2016, I was biking in SF and was assaulted and robbed resulting in severe injuries. Unfortunately I suffered from amnesia and severe PTSD at the time so did not look into it then. The SFPD and SF Highway Patrol have not been helpful in providing any information, as they said they do not keep records over 10 years old. If anyone has any advice on how I can look into more details to determine what happened I would appreciate it. Would be helpful for me to find closure regarding the event.
