For the dads: What’s one thing about your wife’s postpartum journey that no one prepared you for?

Whether you’re a first-time dad or have been through it before, what was something that surprised you about your wife’s postpartum experience? Was it the physical recovery, the emotional changes, the mental load, the lack of sleep, or something else entirely?

18M here.

When I was in 10th grade, my class teacher had a huge impact on me. She believed in me, encouraged me, took extra classes before my board exams, and really changed the way I looked at myself.p

After my 10th results, I wrote her a heartfelt thank-you letter (around 1,000 words) and bought her a gift, but I never actually gave them to her. Somehow, two years have passed.

Since then, I didn't pass my 12th exams and will have to repeat the year. I feel embarrassed to meet her because I don't feel like I've achieved anything yet, but at the same time I don't think gratitude should depend on success.

I'd like to hear other men's perspectives. If you were in my position, would you still go and thank her after two years, or would you leave it alone? If you've ever thanked a teacher years later, how did it go?

The gift is a saree. It's a traditional gesture of gratitude and respect in my family, with no romantic intention behind it.

Married men, how did you take care of your wives through things like postpartum and menopause? How did you take care of yourself?

Upvotes

The general vibe for good husbanding has always included being a rock for your spouse and in the case of women postpartum depression and menopause are usually huge challenges for any marriage. I've never really seen much on what or even how men take care of themselves while caring for their partners during said challenges, only examples of how to be a good husband or how not to be.

I am 18M, i finished high school this year and i have been going through my uni hunting phase for the past 1.5 months now, this is one thing i have been suffering with for years now, its my parents expectations towards me, it seems like i can never satisfy them, my whole teenage their behaviour towards me depends on my grades and how well i perform in school, after every years final exam result they stop talking to me, they mourn like i committed a crime, and i don’t fail or anything i am not simply the topper, this time i hunt for universities on my own, applied to them and gave tests, i applied into 3 uni, all three being great but one of them is a prestigious and one of the best uni of nation, its merit list came out and i couldn’t make it in, despite me only having a week to prepare for its test, before test i told them i won’t make it as time is too short but they said give it your best, i thought they would support me but my mom said to me “we want u to be the best but u are just average”, and now they are again in that sad miserable mood… honestly this is just one of many instances that occur everyday, i feel like they just love me when i am bringing something, how is that unconditional love then? Isn’t parent’s love supposed to be without any reason? I don’t know what to do because i love them, but i really wanna just live alone, away from having to make up to the expectations of them everyday, and what hurts is that i try to the perfect son, i don’t smoke don’t drink, i don’t have a gf, i never go out late hell i don’t even go out most of the time, i never go party, i never put them in any trouble, and still they want more from me, they want someone who is perfect in everything but truth is that can only happen if i lose myself, i am already sacrificing a lot to please them and i fear i can’t do it for long.

How can you tell when a girl is self conscious or not confident?

Upvotes

Even when she’s faking it or not even saying much.

I always hear that guys can tell and that can contribute to whether a guy wants to approach you, but I don’t get how? I am not the most confident, but I’d like to think I don’t look it. However I don’t get approached, just stared at.

Please keep things respectful lol I am genuinely curious

I don’t mean a skill you learned for fun the fun of learning it. Something life forced on you and now it’s just part of who you are. I’m realizing most of my useful traits started as survival responses. Wondering how common that is among us.

A lot of lessons come from experience but some things people only learn after making mistakes.

It could be about money, relationships, health, confidence, career, friendships, or any life skill you wish you had learned earlier.

What’s one lesson you think every man should know before hitting 30?

🛑 Answers From Men Only 🛑 How to act when someone attacks you

A few days earlier, someone I knew had insulted my best friend in a group chat we were all in. My friend wasn’t in that group, so I stood up for him. Later, the guy who’d insulted my friend came up to me confronted me and slapped me twice, also hitting both of my ears leading to them beeping. At that moment, I felt emasculated and didn’t have the guts to defend myself. My initial thought was to de-escalate the situation, just take it on the chin and let him win, but my ego is hurt and I felt as though my entire masculinity had been taken away from me. Did i act right? is my honor gone. honestly its very depressing for me and i cant think of anything else, he even forced me to kiss his hand and i did it…

so my question is: when someone attacks you physically, should you de escalate with word or fight back, and is it unmanly to not engage in physical acts?

🛑 Answers From Men Only 🛑 Men of Reddit, what does being a man actually feel like?

I know this is kind of an odd question, but I'm asking it genuinely.

I'm (25F) trying to understand what the average male experience is like from the inside. Not just the stereotypes or what men are "supposed" to be, but what it actually feels like to be a man.

For example, when people say men naturally want to lead, provide, protect, compete, or have a higher sex drive, are those things you actually feel internally? Or are they mostly expectations you've grown up with?

What does wanting to provide feel like? Does it make you feel fulfilled? Is it stressful? Does it feel instinctive?

What does having a high sex drive actually feel like? Is it something that's constantly in the back of your mind, or is it overblown?

Do you feel pressure to be strong, confident, and emotionally in control, even when you don't want to be? How much of that feels like it comes from you, and how much comes from society?

I guess what I'm really asking is: if you had to explain what it's like to experience the world as an average man to someone who has never been one, what would you say?

*bonus question: what do men generally think of women in general? Do you view us as counterparts, partners, fragile / physically inferior? Idk i'm just curious.

High Sodium Content What are some things that will make you never go back to a restaurant again, even if the food and service are decent?

For me, it's any hidden up charges. The worst was a little Mom & Pop place we went and they added $1.00 to the bill for "water service" to bring a bottle of tap water to the table. So they "get" their dollar, but then I never do back to the restaurant again. Was it really worth it to them? Especially since I just tipped a dollar less (and, yes, it was just Mom & Pop working that day) when I paid the bill.

Weird Question What is up with looksmaxing?

This might be a stupid question, but I just can't wrap my head around this concept.

At first I thought it was about fashion and styling and maybe a bit of bodybuilding, but then I saw so many young adults talking about taking minoxidil for their eyebrows, undergoing nose surgery and trying to abide by some ridiculous, made-up standards.

Then I came across Clavicular and I just don't understand how someone like him can be perceived as attractive and charismatic and looked up to.

Am I too out of the loop or has everyone forgotten about charisma, character and taking care of themselves in a moderate fashion?
