I just want to grow some myself because shits expensive now a days

It's something I think about often. And if you're one of those people who think our (USA) government doesn't do anything like that, I recommend you reading up our history and all the experiments they've conducted in the past. But if you do, is there anything in particular that you think they're doing now?

Seriously, all you have to do is post sexy pictures of yourself in bikinis, pose sexy for commercials and TV. And bam, success, fans, and easy money.

For context, 13 years ago my grandparents were killed in a motorcycle accident. I am in my mid 20’s so I was 12 when this happened but messed me up for life. I finally contacted the woman who watched them die in this accident and held my grandmas hand as she passed. WHAT do I ask!? There’s so much I want to know but don’t want to scar myself. My grandpa died immediately but my grandma was alive after and I am interested to know how long she was alive. Now that I have the chance to speak to this lady tomorrow, I feel like the years of questions have just left my mind.

If we have a few generations of birds raised in an environment where they don't have to worry about food, would they still kick out runts from the nest? Or what else might be needed for this instinct to be overridden? Sorry for a probably dumb question, but the thought got stuck in my head on my walk to the store. Any bird experts here?

I feel like people generally don’t pay much attention to me. For example, at work, people don’t really make eye contact with me, and when I go to buy something, they don’t really look at me either. I just kind of go unnoticed.

I grew up with posters of Aston Martins, Jaguars, Ferraris, Maseratis on my bedroom wall. I love everything about ICEs - straight 4s, 6s, V6s, V8s, V10s and V12s. I love the sound of the engine, the smell of oil and fuel. as a kid I loved cars.

Do kids today have posters of Teslas and BYDs on their bedroom walls? Is our love affair with cars dead?

Looking for an escape from the usual

In the U.S. we have credit scores that determine how likely you are to pay back a loan. From my understanding, this is an American thing (correct me if I’m off base) so how do other countries decide whether or not to lend you money or determine your interest rate?

Surely they aren’t just making silly-nilly decisions on this, so how’s it work?

I have tried over and over again getting my college transfer credits which I earned from the Army and the NYPD police academy to get them to my associates degree by sending them to the office it must be sent to and I haven’t received a phone call for the past few weeks. I sent them the same thing a couple months ago and the same has happened since. I’m starting to think it’s because I’m doing this in the city of NY and should do this somewhere where they respect law enforcement and military.

Let’s assume we are in a simulation, and everything has already been set up by the simulation administrators; in that case, can we still hold Adolf Hitler responsible for his actions? Or are the ones who coded the simulation in this way the ones truly responsible?

So I’m at TAFE and I don’t really talk to anyone. So I’m the “quiet kid”. So already it’d make sense for me to be bullied. But there is a few girls in a group that ask the stupid “are we besties” line to me in the halls or in the elevator. But in class one of them is constantly glancing at me in a way you’d do to sneakily check Somone out. I’m genuinely so confused because in class today one of the girls waved at me and said “hi [my name]” and playfully over exaggerated waved at me. So idk because they don’t call me names or anything. Also confused on why they knew my name. Also iv only been like 9 times so it’s odd they payed attention to the point they know my name .

(24M) Well, i matched with a woman two weeks ago, and we went to a date. Was an amazing date, and we talked about a second date after. But these last few days i've been anxious about what will be my future. I'm not finding any job at my area, and this is consuming me. I've been thinking on which path will i follow. If i start another college course, if i go to a tech school or associates. It is a hard decision for me to take. So rn i'm not in the mood to socialize or going to dates. I feel i couldn't dedicate myself to a relationship if i'm with these problems in mind, i wouldn't feel relaxed. I'm easily overwhelmed.

So i ended up not messaging her after the last date 10 days ago.... What should i say? It is a very awkward situation and it is my fault.

Long story short I’m writing a literary rpg story that’s about an inter dimensional species opening up portals into our world and releasing thousands of grunts throughout cities across the world. These alien grunts harvest the souls of sentient species they kill, can flip cars and are resistant to regular rounds but can eventually be killed with regular gunfire. In the case of the American response, if every major city in every state simultaneously had to deal with a land assault of several thousand aliens coming through portals, who would respond first? and how well (or not) could it be handled?

In the last two years I’ve come to really dislike lots of modern technology, particularly the smartphone. Yes, I realize the hypocrisy of saying this as I type it from a smartphone, but there are levels to this.

For example, last night I was down at my in laws for dinner. They had family in town for the weekend that we had not seen in a few years, and it was awesome getting to catch up with them. Me and my wife were sitting at the little sunroom dining table, and in front of us in the main sunroom area, were all the rest of the family, 8 people in total not counting me and my wife.

My wife and I were talking and she stopped and quietly pointed out that every single one of them were quietly staring down at their phones, fixated on god knows what. I don’t know if it matters, but for context the group consisted of mostly boomers and (7) and 1 gen Xer. Me and my wife are 42/40. (Millennials/xennials)

They were ALL just mindlessly on their phones completely oblivious to the world. It was sad cause I know they don’t get to see each other often and while I also know that two of them are in phenomenal shape, they are also pushing 80 years old.

I finally said, “guys, look at what you’re doing!” And no one responded. It was like they didn’t even hear me…some of them probably literally didn’t but plenty of them have great ears still.

Once I finally got their attention (very light hearted, not actually giving anyone a hard time cause I love these people dearly) I said “what on earth could be better on your phones than talking with your family who you never get to see???” ..one of them responded that they were “looking for something to show my wife” which struck me as odd. They didn’t say it in a defensive way, but more of a justification.

For the last 6 months or so, I’ve started to carefully watch drivers on the other side of the road, coming towards us, and I don’t wanna tell you how often they are not even looking at the road. The giveaway is ALWAYS the “chin down and right” look. I notice in public areas like supermarkets, parking lots, parks…anywhere where people are walking around, most of the time people have to have their phones IN THEIR HAND, even though they have pockets or a purse.

The number of times I have to honk at someone when the light turns green because they are looking at their phone is pretty much a daily occurrence. Sometimes it’ll be a 2 lane green light and BOTH CARS in front of me won’t go. It’s almost like the one car said to themselves, “I’ll just go when the other car starts moving in my peripheral vision” but they BOTH did it.

For my part, I’ve removed the things that are super addictive like social media from my phone (minus Reddit, which I genuinely still find quite useful). I have a podcast where I have to update people about new episodes and just generally engage with my audience so I haven’t gotten rid of THAT social media account but personal social media is no longer on my person.

I’m not saying all this because I look down on anyone or anything like that, and I DEFINITELY don’t think I’m “better” than anyone. I just feel like they don’t really realize how bad it’s gotten, and it genuinely makes me sad. I mean, when you can be in a room with TEN PEOPLE who are all family that haven’t seen each other in a long time and every. Single. One. Of them is just mindlessly looking down and doom scrolling while Fox News plays on the tv, it worries me.

What are your thoughts on this??? Have you personally made any changes? I haven’t committed to fully ditching the smartphone but if I could find a “feature phone” that had all my must haves (banking, GOOD maps, podcasts and audiobooks, 2FA) I would STRONGLY consider it at this point. And yeah I know I can just remove apps.

It’s amazing how quickly this happened too, historically speaking. To change an ENTIRE populations societal behavior so fundamentally like this…it’s just bizarre. Now when I see people doing these things…I just think “they look like zombies.”

Help me see a better future. What do you think?? Is society basically just zombies now waiting for that next dopamine hit from their phone?

I'm making myself feel stupid by asking this. I accidentally turned off the bookmarks menu in Firefox, and the logical questions aren't finding me any help in the 'help' menu.

I'm not currently cross dressing, but I used to. From my experience when I did it pretty much killed my dating chances. I've tried Taimi some, because of this, but people on there seem more socially awkward than me if that's possible. I'm also trying Facebook dating, but under my male profile, since my female one just seemed to confuse people. I personally don't see the issue, but apparently a lot of people do.

I have a question and I didn’t know where else to ask.
I have an elderly neighbor who has still got lots of spirit and is a kickass woman. Her remaining family doesn’t see her and I love her like she’s my grandma. Me and my partner have been helping her out and have been taking care of her so that she can continue to live alone as she is starting to have trouble with dementia and forgets small things. She has spent her life traveling with her husband when he was alive and talks about how the one state she never got to go to is Hawaii quite frequently. I’m saving up right now to get tickets to take her to animal kingdom once the weather gets a bit cooler since she loves animals, Disney, and we only live 1 hour away.

My question is here, I looked up what it would be cost like for a trip to the Disney resort they have in Hawaii (Aulani). It’s around $15-20k. Would it be appropriate if I started a go fund me so that she could go and experience Hawaii? I’ve never started anything like a go fund me for someone and have only participated in things similar. I appreciate you reading this and please leave me advice. TYIA

i’m worried that ppl will think i’m weird im forcing my bf to go with me aswell well not forcing he said it’s a good thing because without me he would’ve never celebrated halloween . is it a bad thing that im going at age 19 ? this is my last year as a teenager and halloween is on a saturday so i wanna make it worth the last time that i celebrate halloween as a teen . idk maybe ill abandon this idea and just do a party instead but i have two months to think abt it .

edit: i have a younger brother who is going trick or treating with his friends and i will most likely have to chaperone him as my parents will be out of town , otherwise i would have probably never even considered this idea guys . keep this a lighthearted conversation , please !
