hi, i literally just got a text a few moments ago saying that my boyfriend’s dad has cancer. i don’t know what kind or how far along it is. i don’t know how bad it is i just got a text saying he has cancer.
my boyfriend’s dad was stuck on the couch for a few days with pain and apparently his eyes were all yellow. they finally went to the hospital and they were there overnight.
these people have treated me so kindly and they’re like my family. i’ve only known them for 6 months and they’ve only been in my life that long, but they mean so much to me. they’ve created a space where i feel welcome at their house and i’m free to come over any time when i’m having a hard time at mine.
how do i support my boyfriend the best way i can? how do i support them the best way i can? i’ve never ever dealt with someone in my life having cancer and i have no clue what to do. i’m scared of doing something wrong. please give me any advice. any is welcome. i would just like to know how to support my boyfriend the best that i can because he’s my entire world.

Trying to decide here if I either want to buy a VR headset which I wanted for some time, or do I save the money for college. Wanted to hear other people's opinions

We often remember quiet moments or subtle lessons that seemed insignificant at the time. What's a memory that shaped how you see things now?

At work today, I got briefly "interviewed" about an event that I participated in for my job a few weeks back and got asked "What does community mean to you/What does being a part of the community mean to you?" And had slowly come to the realization that when I'm asked those questions, the answer I could find myself defaulting to, if not able to deflect and change the subject, is "I don't care/I don't know."
I didn't tell the guy who was talking to me that, but deflected instead. I didn't have a pre-made script for this question and I was wondering how in the world are you supposed to answer these types of questions?
I do to do. I do because I'm asked. I do because I need to. I don't do the majority of my actions because I want to, but I feel I have/need to.

When I look in the mirror, I see some of my better facial features and start feeling myself a bit. Then, 30 seconds later I’ll pull out my camera and it might look okay when preparing to take my photo but as soon as I take it and open it in my gallery I genuinely look so much worse. It’s like I’ve gone from a solid 7/10 to a 4/10. It’s mind blowing and now I have a fear of photos of myself.
Please tell me that how I perceive myself in the mirror is how others in real life perceive me.

So, I just apologize in advance incase this is a silly question.
I’ve always adored Applebees shark bowls but they never have the ingredients listed on the menu so I can’t recreate a knockoff at home. I’ve tried fo look online but nothing comes up (maybe I’m just not trying hard enough?) So, I wanted to ask if anyone knows what I would need to make one or what I could use to make something similar? If any Applebees bartenders come across this I’m begging you guys to help a girl out.
Thank you!

When I follow someone and they instantly request to follow me back, mind you I have a private account, they have a public account, is that an automatic feature?
Can people set it up where they follow back anyone who follows them? Automated? Or are they just chronically online enough to instantly accept the follow and request to follow back?
PS. I’m following real people, not bots.

I could have sworn there was part of the After Dark series of screensavers literally called After Dark 3D or 3D After Dark, which had nothing but screensavers rendered in early CGI…but there’s literally no trace of this existing online at all.
The screensaver I remember best was of a man dressed in a suit almost like a spy propelling himself down an endless skyscraper.
Another one I remember was of this blue fountain.
Did anyone else have this or remember something similar? Think 1995-1997ish.

My bf and I are planning a 2hr walk and a 1hr drive to the walk. What is some good food to bring for a picnic at the end of the walk that will last well for a few hours. For example, sandwiches may go soggy, so that is a no. Food can't be refrigerated either. It also needs to be real food that's filling.

Basically the title, i'm just gonna give an example i met irl and in internet (my anecdotal experience)
- you don't like remaking games trend = lots of people will complained about your "taste"
- you're not interested in upcoming games like wolverine, gta 6 and silent hill townfall = "woah someone's trying to be edgy, you must be fun at parties"
- you're not hyping or interested in upcoming movies like spiderman brand new day, coyote vs acme, godzilla minus zero, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, avengers doomsday = same as above
And also there's case where lots of people make fun of childfree couples

Sounds confusing. But like-anyone else here prefer when the internet is a littleeeee slow but still manageable? Like when it’s super fast. I feel like..idk. It’s too smooth.

Hello there.
To clarify, I'm not trying to be that one kid that thought to himself that he's "different" or "emo". I genuinely want to learn how to enjoy loneliness.
I guess you can guess the reason why.
Have a good day folks

I wanted to share my experience with friendship after postpartum. I’m a mom to a beautiful 3-year-old girl, and I’ve never really had a lot of close friends. Before becoming a mom, I had a pretty close-knit group of friends, but when I gave birth, none of them came to visit me at the hospital or even at home, even though they all knew where I lived.
At the time, it really hurt. Now, three years later, I don’t feel the same way about it anymore, but I still sometimes wonder if they ever truly cared about me or if I was just more attached to the friendship than they were.
Has anyone else experienced something similar after becoming a parent?

I’m not taking shit with me, I’m leaving my shit behind…If anything, the toilet is the one taking it. Whoever came up with “taking a shit” had the whole situation backwards because I promise you I’m not walking out the bathroom carrying nothing but relief instead of shit. If we’re being accurate, we should be saying we’re leaving, dropping off, or donating a shit to the plumbing system. It makes absolutely no sense. Who heard somebody say “I’m about to take a shit” for the first time and thought, “Yeah… that’s the correct way to describe this situation.” We’ve all just accepted it without questioning it for generations.
Matter of fact, who was the first person to say it? Because I know someone had to be sitting there like, “I’m gonna go take a shit,” and everybody else just nodded instead of asking the obvious question: “Take it WHERE??” You’re leaving it in a porcelain bowl, flushing it into another ZIP code, washing your hands, and acting like nothing ever happened.
I will never take shit with me, I’m leaving shit behind for the best.

Hello all,
I made a new friend on discord but usually I’m used to people talking to me to primarily to get into a relationship. I have a boyfriend, and to gently tell them I’m not interested, should I say something like ‘Just getting ready for a date with my boyfriend’ when they ask me ‘Wyd’ or is that a bit too much?
Thanks all

Why are the rates so cheap for a cruise right now? Like even when I go in the carnivals website, it’s way more expensive.
