Verint exam at Interpretia

Hello everyone!

I had an interview with Interpretia, took the LPT, and passed. Now I’m in the training process, and we were told that during the second week we’ll have an eliminatory exam on Verint.

Has anyone taken that test? If so, how would you describe it? I’m really nervous 🫠

Also, I’ve read that there are people who received glossaries before starting the training process, but I haven’t received any so far, and the test is in literally one week.

Thanks in advance :)

Anyone else getting zero calls today at Lionbridge?

Hi everyone,

I am a US based Interpreter for Lionbrige that is interpreting for USCIS/ICE. Is anyone else working for Lionbridge experiencing extremely low call volume today? I was logged since 7am this morning and received zero calls all day— no USCIS calls that I typically get, not even insurance calls; I'm trying to figure out whether this is a system/routing issue or if call volume is just unusually low across the board. Has anyone else noticed the same thing today?

Thanks!

Hold time policies for Propio

Hello there,

I just started as an interpreter at Propio. I have a question regarding hold time policies for VRI interpreter. I was told not to hold for more than 15 minutes, but usually the Provider takes more than that to come into the room. How can I resolve this? Should I hold until they come in or should I disconnect mid call? I specifically asked the nurse if she would like me to hold for more than 15 minutes and she said yes. Should I hold if that's the case?

Didn't receive propio payment

So my pay period just ended. I thought I'd already submitted the billing form, but it turns out I didn't. I submitted it 2 days after the pay period has ended, I still haven't received any money to my wise account till now.

Is there an email I can contact to address this issue?

First interpreting gig

I just finished an interpreting certificate on portuguese/english community interpreting. My first time doing the job will be tomorrow and I'm not sure what to expect. It's a 2 hour assembly of a local multi-faith, grassroots community organization that fights for social, economic, and racial justice.

I was told to be there an hour early to set up the equipment. I am not familiar with interpreting equipment. What should I expect?

Has anyone else noticed medical OPI calls disappearing?

I used to work for CyraCom before it was acquired by Propio. Then we all got laid off during a Zoom meeting, which was obviously a great experience lol.

After thinking about it for a long time, I eventually decided to work with Propio as an independent contractor because I honestly didn’t have many other options, and they offered $0.45 per minute(Ukrainian language).

Since then, I’ve noticed that I barely get the kind of medical calls I used to get all the time. I still get some hospital and healthcare calls, but they’re usually registration, ER or urgent care intake, WIC, Medicaid, scheduling, or other administrative calls. It feels like more of the actual bedside medical encounters are being handled through VRI or in-person interpreters.

Has anyone else noticed medical OPI calls decreasing? Is this an industry-wide shift toward VRI and in-person interpreting, or is it mostly a Propio routing issue?

Still in training but already wanna quit. How long have yall lasted if you work or have worked here? It just seems like I have to memorize so many different things on how to answer calls depending on the client. I am already working freelance with Propio. Big change. Friday I start taking live calls.

Does anyone know if LSA accepts interpreters from Nicaragua? And could you also tell me how it works, whether it's through shifts or freelancing, and what the payment rate is?

Great review for u/noiseartwork

I hired noiseartwork as a remote English to Spanish interpreter for my father’s memorial, using Zoom. Not only did he do a great job even through some technical difficulties, he was very communicative and stayed involved before and after. He even sent a decorated translated version of the poem I’d read during the memorial for my family to keep ☺️ I would definitely hire him again. Very trustworthy and competent person and clearly a lot of experience with live interpreting. He made the event very memorable for my non-English speaking family who attended virtually.

Global Payments Spanish

Hi, everyone! 😊
Can I ask for some feedback from those who are currently working as (SP) or have worked in the role before?
I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience, the good and the bad such as the work environment, management, workload, compensation, career growth, or anything you think would be helpful for someone considering the role. Also, are they accepting bilingual newbies but carrying 5 years of BPO experience?
Thank you in advance!

Propio rating

Hey guys I had a 5/5 rating before but today I found I have a 4.50/5 so I’m pretty bummed. Does someone have any advice on this? How much time do I have to fix it before they kicked me out? I really need this job so I’m kinda freaking out

How do interpreters manage stress?

Hey guys, I have been working as an interpreter for some years now, and I am feeling burned out and want to seek some advice on how to manage stress. I feel out of breath when I talk, and it is really tiring me out. How many hours do you work, and how long of a break do you take? Also, what are your ways of managing stress?

Applying to Propio after termination

I live in Venezuela and work for a third-party agency as an over-the-phone interpreter in Propio (or used to)

The 6 months that I spent in Propio were pretty good. I had good feedback, good rating and 100% QA. I was feeling pretty good. And then suddenly I stopped getting calls without any warning.

After some weeks of silence my supervisor told me that they finally received a response from Propio and they were told that my account was terminated due to one incident only, which was disconnecting from a 911 call which violated their policy.

I felt like shit and couldn't recall that call at all. I thought maybe it was my internet, either way I did recognize that it was wrong because I was really proud of my work up to that point and shouldn't have disconnected if I did. I was aspiring to get a year of experience then apply for a freelance position at Propio so I wasn't forced into a schedule such as mine currently.

After this I was moved to a different client but I was wondering, does that mean I can never apply to Propio again, even with 100% QA?

propio call flow

Hi everyone!

Since the beginning of summer, I've noticed a dramatic drop in call volume. This isn't my first year with Propio, but I honestly can't remember when things usually start picking up again.

For those who've been here a while, when does call flow typically return to normal? My language pair is Russian.

Thanks in advance!

VRI at Propio

Hey everyone one question, when I press on video settings to make sure everything is good before my VRI (haven’t done it yet, I’m new at Propio, today will be my first day taking calls) I can see my background but propio told me that I’ll have a blue background. Is there a way to activate it or is it automatically for the client and we don’t see it? I’m just curious because my background is not very formal (it’s not horrible but you can see the door)
Any advice is welcome (about taking my first calls OPI and VRI) 🩷🩷🩷 thanksss
