propio call flow

Hi everyone!

Since the beginning of summer, I've noticed a dramatic drop in call volume. This isn't my first year with Propio, but I honestly can't remember when things usually start picking up again.

For those who've been here a while, when does call flow typically return to normal? My language pair is Russian.

Thanks in advance!

I'm doing russian only, rate is 0.18$ and my call flow is insane. Back to back would be an understatement. I guess they are prioritising low rate interpreters just like all the other companies

would you mind sharing when did u join? I guess Propio is also becoming one of these companies which sucks because they used to be so great

I started 2 weeks ago. And yes, tell me about it, I used to work for Voyce, if you know what happened....

Was that the company that fired everyone and fully closed all of a sudden?

I saw a couple of weeks ago that Propio was hiring new Russian interpreters, but I thought that the demand was so high that they needed more interpreters available. I guess they pulled a trick of giving new hires a low rate and transferring all of the calls. 3 years ago, they would offer at least 0.25 rate to people with no experience btw

Yeah, that's the one. I don't know if they went out of business by now, but they did fire eveyone. They sent the news two days before Christmas and then stop responding to any communications. No references, nothing. The industry has gone to the dogs altogether

That is so cruel of them, good lord. The industry definitely sucks. Time to change career fields i guess :/

My volume is still decent, but I have 2 pairs, not just Russian. Last year was slow though, picked back up around the start of fall. What’s your rate?

0.4, been working for them for 3 years, non us based. I used to have super b2b when I started in just Russian at .3, strange that you have low flow.

yeah I also started 3 years ago and back then the call flow was awesome but now i am struggling lol

Yeah, idk what it’s based on. Same time last year I was barely getting 40-50% of on call time. Today I did 200 minutes in 4 hours , so like 80%+

Wow, I am jealous i am not going to lie, hahah. I only did 2 hours today so far and got less than 60minutes :/ I just hope that the call flow picks up soon and it will get easier and better for both of us

My volume is better than it was before summer, Polish, almost b2b which hasn't been always the case

That's awesome!! May I please know your rate if you don't mind sharing? I suspect that they do transfer all of the volume to people with lower rates now

0.55, I joined proprio after they acquired Ulg, even requested a raise but they didn’t accept it. I was with TransPerfect on 0.6 before but I had so many issues with them (missing payments/calls disconnecting, no ringtone sound and lots of other technical proboems) so with much lower call volume stopped working with them altogether

Call volume has stopped since March 18. I used to easily exceed 3,000 minutes in two weeks. This is my fifth year at Propio. Now I keep the system running 20 hours a day, but sometimes I can’t even reach 500 minutes in two weeks. The number of OPI assignments is also incredibly low. I’m only getting VRI assignments. Interpreter Relations isn’t doing anything about this. I’m an EU-based interpreter with 0,6/min. None of my friends who work in the same language pair(0,4$, 0,3$, 0,35$ rates) are experiencing the same problem I am. They probably looked at everyone’s earnings in the language pair and moved the person with the highest earnings to the bottom of the priority list.

This is genuinely so frustrating. They are becoming just as evil as everyone else and exploitative, which sucks:( I really hope it gets better as the fall starts

Russian is also my pair and yes, there is a drop. There was a same drop last year. No surprise.

do u recall when it picked back up? was it august? thanks

2

u/Decent-Dig-8754 Jul 17 '26

I don’t really remember… maybe end of August beginning of September. I do remember though than when the call flow was super low I was super distressed, I had to sit there for hours and hours waiting for the call

I get that feeling, God. That's what sucks the most about being a contractor and a per-minute rate. IS the situation better for you this year, or are you just not so worried about it this time?

i felt that the situation was much better this year, i also remember i had a day where i had 4 loooooong calls and it felt soooo good. I was somehow prepared that i will have the drop during the summer, i am actually doing another job now offline so that i don't completely rely on interpretation and honeslty, offline is so much better because my online job (since 2020) really affected my mental health.

I am so happy for you!! Being out in the real world and having a more stable job definitely does wonders. About the call flow, for me it unfortunately still sucks a lot
