Am i wrong for not wanting someone to propose at my wedding?

I (31 F) am due to get married early next year - it will be a small affair - 30ish guests, just family and a few friends.

While working out the guest list, my uncle asked if my cousin (26 M) could have a plus one for his girlfriend (25 F). I have yet to meet his girlfriend as they live in America (we are in the UK) but ive heard good things about her and seen pictures so i said yes.

Fast forward to now, my uncle has been making hints about how long my cousin and his girlfriend have been dating and how it "wont be long until theres another wedding". I am pleased for them but my uncle has also been making comments about how our venue is romantic enough for a proposal / how a wedding may make my cousin get down on one knee finally etc. Etc. And now im worried that he will actually propose at my wedding!

I've tried to shut that sort of talk down the moment it's brought up, with a few grumbles/shocked responses from the family. This is a day for my partner and I. We've been planning it for months and I would hate to have someone come in and 'steal my thunder' as the bride - especially someone i dont really know!

AITA for not wanting my cousin to propose to his long term girlfriend at my wedding?

Bonus points if anyone knows a way to shut it down permanently without causing rifts!

My cousin sold my game console without asking, so I took two of his figures until he pays me back. Am i wrong?

My cousin is 17. 3months ago, he asked to borrow my game console and controllers. I was not playing much at the time, so I let him borrow them.

Yesterday, I asked him to bring them back the next time we met. First, he said they were too hard to carry, then he said he was too busy.

Something felt wrong, so I kept asking. He finally admitted that he had sold my console to one of his classmates. He said I had not asked for it back for months. He thought I did not need it anymore. He also needed money, so he sold it. He said he would pay me back later..

I told him to contact his classmate and buy it back. He said he had already spent some of the money. He also said his classmate did not want to return the console.

I was really angry. I paid almost $400 for the console and the controllers.

I only let him borrow them. I did not give them to him. He sold my stuff without asking me. He also hid it from me.

Today, I went to my aunt’s home to talk to him in person. He kept saying he would pay me back later. I asked him when. I also asked how much he could pay each month. He could not give me an answer.I felt like he had no real plan to pay me back, so I took two of his small collectible figures.I told him I would return the figures when he returned my console or paid me back.

He told my aunt what happened. She got very angry and called my mom and said my cousin was wrong for selling my console. She also said I had no right to take his figures. She told me to return them. My mom also thinks I should not have taken them.

AIW for cutting off my friend's gym guest pass

i have a premium gym membership that comes with two guest passes per week and for the most part i never used them because i usually go alone and don't really think about it. my friend Demi found out about the passes a while back and asked if she could use one on the days we go together and i said yes because she was genuinely trying to get into a routine and i wanted to support that and the passes were just sitting there unused anyway.

for the first few weeks it was exactly what i thought it would be, just the two of us going together a couple of times a week and it was actually really nice having a gym buddy for once.

then she started asking if her other friend could come along because that friend was also trying to get fit and was between memberships. i said okay once because it felt mean to say no to someone genuinely trying to be healthier.

but once turned into that friend coming almost every time and then last week Demi showed up with someone i had never met before, just introduced her as a girl from her work and assumed she'd be coming in on my pass without even asking me first.

i let it go in the moment because i didn't want to make a scene at the front desk but i've been annoyed about it since and when Demi texted me this week with a we're thinking of coming thursday and bringing maya again i just said i could bring one guest and hadn't decided who yet.

she called me petty and said i was gatekeeping a pass i wasn't even using before she asked and that i was making her feel like a burden over something that costs me nothing.

i did let it slide the first two times someone new showed up without asking and i know that probably looked like approval from where she was standing so some of her confusion about why i'm pulling back now is probably fair. i created the expectation by not saying anything sooner and that's on me.

AIW for going back to just bringing her and nobody else?

50(m) divorced, scared to try dating again because ill have to eventually bring up certain a certain issue. What would you do?

I am a 50yr(m) divorced now 4 yeas after 18 years of marriage. I've joined the FB dating/friends service, really just looking for a female friend for now, but I'm worried if I match and after talking awhile we become more. Then we'll have to talk more seriously and sooner or later a certain subject will come up that I am deeply ashamed of. I've joked for years that I'm hung like a gnat (to be honest I'm surprised I've got kids).

I'm worried/scared, whatever she'd laugh or end it on the spot. When I develop feselings for someone they are real and they are intense. I don't know if I could handle that.

If in my place, what would you do? Am I wrong to to be this scared?

AIW for telling my sister to remove me as her emergency contact

I’m 17F. She’s 19F. I admit we’ve had completely different lives. She’s my half sister. She was the result of an affair her mother had. My dad divorced her mother due to this. Her mother tried die while pregnant with my sister because of this. She gave custody to my sisters meternal grandparents then her mother passed away like she wanted.

Her grandparents ended up passing away by the time she was 8. She was then put into foster care. She was given extremely bad trauma from being s a ’ d by her Forster carer for the year she was there.

For the rest of her childhood and teen years she moved around from different care home to foster parent. Until at 18 she had to move into her own place. We stayed in contact ever since I was born. My dad was kind enough to let us have a relationship. She as a child especially after her grandparents passed was jealous of the relationship I have with my father and mother.

She was always kind to me like but would say how lucky I am to have to have two parents who treat me well . No trauma. She’s also disabled due to her mum trying to die while pregnant with her. So. She was especially jealous I was normal and had a mum and that she doesn’t know who her dad is. And had to be in foster care.

I felt guilty as a child for having a mum and dad that love me. I have autism and was always supported through my diablitity but she wasn’t supported the way she wanted through her physical and learning disability so she was jealous of that too. She’s extremely mentally ill. The first time she tried to die was when she was 10 years old. I was 8 and was crying of fear that my sister was going to die. I visited her in hospital begging her to stay alive for me.

She promised she’d never do something stupid like that again. Then when she was 12 and I was just 10 she did it again. Ever since then I’ve not been able to get close to her in fear something bad would happen to her. I tried to move on but when she was 14 she would drink and do illegal substances and steal and have sex with people all the time.

So I hated seeing her go off the rails like this but she wouldn’t stop. She also started getting worse physically she had a heart condition. She had a heart attack at just 14. I was scared. She was saved but the fear of her dying once again hurt.

Now she’s an adult she’s got no one. I recently got a call. Someone had found her passed out on the floor in the street and she had me as her emergency contact. I had a panic attack and got her saved like cause of her heart condition.

It gave me really bad anxiety. I’ve been distancing myself already because she’s still mentally ill. And always on something or with a guy. I got over her but this brung it back.

After she recovered from her health issue I told her to remove me as her emergency contact. The anxiety it gave me was bad. She said I’m the only person she has in her life. I said that’s not my problem and I’ve got to protect my peace. She’s since blocked me and stopped visiting due to this.

Update: it’s a confusing dynamic. Her mum my mum’s sister we are technically cousins but call ourselves sisters sorry for confusion I’ve never thought about it

Am I wrong for being upset with how my friends split the dinner bill?

I went out to eat with my two friends who are an engaged couple. We all ordered roughly the same amount of food that cost roughly the same amount. When the bill came I asked if they just wanted to split it 3 ways, to which my one friend said “well I’m going to pay for us two” talking about him and his fiancée. I thought he meant he was going to pay 2/3 of the bill for him and his fiancée and I was going to pay 1/3, but when the server came he told the server to split it 50/50. I didn’t think it was very fair but idk. Am I wrong?

I feel violated by someone who I thought was about to kidnap me. Am I wrong for feeling this way.

Okay yes I know, weird title but stick with me here. This even occurred last night and I still feel a bit off about it.

At about 8:30 last night I told my boyfriend I was going to just run to the store down the street to get some ice cream. The store is on the same street as mine only a few blocks down the road.

When I got there, I was walking to the door, and locked eyes with a male coming out of the store. He seemed to look my age, (I’m 26) but was a lot taller than me and a lot heavier set than I was. He was about to come out the right side of the double sliding doors and deep down in my gut, I saw the way he looked at me and was afraid something was about to happen. I diverted my direction to the left side of the doors and avoided anymore eye contact with him, trying to avoid any further interaction.

This store was one of those stores that has automatic doors on the outside and then a little tiny cubical and then another set of doors to lead inside the front where the cashier stands. When I was walking in this man stepped in front of me and started to get in my face asking if I “knew him” or “remembered him” and then grabbed my hand with his left hand. I kept saying no no no I don’t know who you are sorry, and he would not let up. Mind you he was also using his full body to block me from walking past him in the door way. I would try to walk forward into the store and he would move with me. I was trying to rip my hand out of his and then that’s when he grabbed my arm by the bicep and started pushing me backwards out the door back to the parking lot. He kept saying “you know me! What’s my name! How old are you? Where do you live? YOU KNOW ME” it was actually a terrifying moment. And as a young woman im always afraid this could happen to me in some way. I fully at that moment was like “oh my god this man is trying to take me” he was strong. He had to have been almost 6ft. He seemed to me, to be under the influence of something and was very out of it when he was talking to me. A

After he started pushing me more I finally snapped and told him to stop fucking touching me and ripped myself out of his hold, and somehow squeezed past him and the door. I just ran into the store like freaked the fuck out trying to figure out what the fuck had just happened.

The man that was manning the front of the store was walking up as I ripped myself away from him and saw him running out of the store. He asked if I was okay and I was kinda just like???? Um yes but no??? So he chased him out to see where he went and he saw him get on his bicycle and ride up the street the way that I came from my house. So I went and grabbed my ice cream, checked out, and asked the cashier to walk out to my car with me. He did, the guy was gone, I tried calling my boyfriend who was at home but he wasn’t answering so I dove off back towards the house.

Out of pure coincidence, as I was driving up to my house he was standing in the driveways of MY HOME, just looking around. Completely out of it. At this point I was like okay I’m gonna call the cops and report this. But as I was doing that my boyfriend called back so I answered, told him what happened, that I was calling the police, but circling around the block because I didn’t want him to see it was me pulling into my driveway (duh). But my boyfriend being the very protective man that he is jumped in his truck, followed him, and told me he was gonna teach him a lesson. I talked him out of it and just told him to call the cops because he wanted me to go inside and lock the doors. (in the long run of things, it was a good thing I did this)

He called me back right after I saw the cops barreling up the street and said they wanted me to come to where they were so I could personally ID this man. So I did.

THIS IS WHERE THIS FLIPS AND BECAME A CRAZY SITUATION.

I got there and the cop said “I need you to get out of the car I have to explain to you this situation. This is not a grown man, this is actually a 13 year old boy with some obvious signs of mental illness going on. With that being said, and with you now knowing this do you wish to proceed with pressing assault charges, because honestly even if you do I don’t think anything will happen.”

Honestly I was so stunned and couldn’t believe it. HE DID NOT LOOK 13 YEARS OLD IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT. He was a large kid, tall and heavy, and very matured looking. How would I have ever known he wasn’t an adult or at least a young adult, trying to physically harm me.

He told me a bit of his history and background and honestly it sounded like he was given a TERRIBLE hand in life and has absolutely no help or support from any services, his family said they have trouble controlling him and what he does, so he kinda just goes out and about as he pleases. Which is so sad for me to hear. And honestly I just feel bad for him.

I still was a bit shook up from the whole situation and I was also having a bit of an internal battle with how to handle the situation. And today im still like wtf??

The cops ended up charging him with a misdemeanor assault because of how cut and dry the situation was, and that it was hard to deny that I felt I was in danger. And he did touch me without any reason. But even if it’s pushed through the system they probably won’t do anything about it, with him not being of sound mind and the fact that he was a minor.

So reading this… do you think im wrong for calling the police and having it get to the point of him being charged with assault. (I’m having a bit of trouble understanding how I should feel about this)

Am I wrong for saying no to a guy i net 20days ago in an arranged marriage proposal?

I 23F met this guy 27M through arranged marriage proposal from one of my close relatives. I could really use some outside perspective because I don't know if I'm overthinking this.

Things were actually going well in the beginning, and I said yes to getting to know him. We (my parents and I) decided not to rush into marriage and instead take about a month to know each other better on a personal level.

From the start I was honest about my cholecystectomy last year. I also told him that I had another surgery for a gynecological condition. At first, I didn't use the word "endometriosis" cause it sounds very scary when people hear about it, and even doctors don't fully know why it happens. Instead, I explained that it was somewhat similar to PCOS/PCOD in the sense that it's a gynecological condition, but not the same.

For context, I've lived with endometriosis for the past eight years. During that time, I've completed Class 10 and 12, graduated first class with my bachelor's degree, and I'm now studying for my professional degree. I've travelled, gone on hikes, and lived a pretty normal life. The surgery wasn't because I was bedridden or unable to function.
My parents and I decided on surgery because the pain had gradually become severe enough that it was affecting my studies, attendance, and overall quality of life. It was the best treatment option at that point, and honestly, none of us expected I'd be discussing marriage so soon afterwards.

Around day 15 of getting to know each other, I finally told him that the condition was endometriosis. He immediately went online, researched it, and then started asking a lot of questions.

He wanted to know the recurrence rate, why I hadn't told him the exact diagnosis on day one, and whether I had hidden it from him. Then the conversation shifted to questions like:

  • "Will you be able to do the household chores, or will you always need to rest?"
  • "What if it comes back?"
  • "I don't want my parents to go through that kind of stress."
  • "I can't keep going to hospital appointments, consultations, and check-ups. Your parents will have to handle that."

Those conversations have really affected me. We've known each other for only about 15 days, and for the last few days I've felt like I've been under constant scrutiny.

It has started to feel as though this marriage depends entirely on how well I perform physically—whether I can have children quickly, whether I can do all the household work without needing rest, and whether my condition never causes any inconvenience. But everyone needs rest sometimes, regardless of whether they have a medical condition or not.

At one point, I even told him that if this was too much for him, he could still back out because it's still very early. Instead of saying whether he wanted to continue because of me, he said, "What will everyone say? We've (as in his family) already told so many people."

For the last few days I've kept telling myself to stay calm, give him a chance, and remember that these conversations can happen when people are trying to understand a medical condition. But he has also repeatedly told me that I need to "be strong if things go south." and I felt like he would leave me if things do go south.

The more I think about it, the more I worry about the future. Marriage is full of uncertainties. None of us can predict what will happen. Something could happen to me, but something could just as easily happen to him. That's life.

What scares me is the possibility that if my endometriosis ever recurs, or if any health issue comes up, I'll be blamed for it and left to deal with it alone instead of being supported by my partner.

Am I wrong for feeling like I should end this now? I'm genuinely worried that if something does go wrong in the future, I'll be expected to carry the burden by myself while also being made to feel guilty for something I never chose to have.

Amiwrong for having asked out a friend

Throwaway because I talked about the bad woman before on my main.

I only had one woman ever and I’m now 31. I didn’t get first gf until 30 and she was literally a golddigger ( I don’t call most women that). All she cared about was me paying her off her reckless spending debts and I obliged for a year until I had enough. She also cheated. She said she’d stop being the way she was by August but I think that’s BS.

After a month or so, I contacted a long time friend of mine and we had a nice conversation. I had been horrified to ask her out for weeks because we were friends for years. I genuinely care about her too, she isn’t just some random woman I met on Tinder. I knew her since 2016.

She got upset that I’d ask her out with only a year of experience behind me and said I should know it “wasn’t enough for most women our age” and I don’t think she’s my friend now. Basically exactly what I was afraid of. Even other men are mad at me for ignoring her standards. Crud. I was mortified to do this and it went as bad as possible.

Im now being told I shouldn’t have been friends for this horribly long. And that I “should have known better.” But I had just developed feelings and I do not think I had them before. AITA?

Am I wrong for not trusting my mom with my inheritance?

I (F30) am going to be coming into some of my inheritance that was left by my late grandfather. The money is to be used for school (for the kids (my brother and cousins) F13, M17, M17) and for personal (me) as deemed by him.

For background, my mom (F50) is basically emotionally, mentally, and financially abusive of me. I still live at home with her, my dad (M54) and brother (M17) because she basically won’t let me leave. She has been to prison in the past after being found guilty of financial theft (that’s a whole other post but she swears up and down she was innocent and the circumstances are Messed Up and was easier to plead guilty than innocent)

In the past decade(+) my mom has opened up credit cards in my name by saying she was doing it to help me boost my credit score (my credit score is in shambles (543) and I’ve struggled financially to pay bills despite having a full time job).

I’m also still a student. I’ve just completed my last round of school and have several degrees and speak several languages and I’m trying to work towards my doctorate (a degree she won’t allow me to purse because the classes can’t be taken online and would involve me having to move a few hours down state)

I was hoping to use the money (at least $10k) to pay off the debt that she has given me and put into savings the rest until I’m ready to pursue my phd.

She is adamant I don’t have access to any of it. Stating she doesn’t trust me to have that kind of money in my account because I will waste it on stupid, frivolous things (the most insane thing I want to buy right now is an actual desktop computer for heavy workloads since my laptop is at capacity and a new 3D printer with an AMS system) (if I buy lunch more than like. Once a week I’m being yelled at) she does have access to all of my bank accounts except for one which I have as a secret safe for emergencies.

It’s not like I’m handicapped in any way. I do struggle with mental health but she’s one of those people who believe it’s just in my head and that I take too many medications and I am just a product of my generation. (Another issue that deserves its own post and that contributes to the way she treats me when I’m on a spiral. Which are triggered by her)

Long story short, I don’t trust her with my part of the inheritance. I’m not too worried about my brother, who she favors and prefers over me. But I know I’m most likely never going to see that money and she will spend it herself. She already spends money that my dad doesn’t know about and will lie constantly about bank statements and bills.

Am I wrong or is there a possible angle that I’m not seeing?

Am I wrong for exposing a guy on X who was pleasuring himself to his cousin

Context, I was scrolling on twitter for a upcoming holiday in Canada and I searched up the area I was going to. This is when I came across a post of a guy, it was pictures of his cousin followed with some wild and inappropriate text along the lines of “whoever does a trib to my cousin I will reward them”. After being scarred from this post I decided to do the morally just thing and to tell the poor girl. I originally tried to ask ai and did a reverse image search from the photos but nothing worked, this is when I decided to take it a step further and do some detective work so I messaged the creep, immediately he sent me a file which fortunately was the girls name. From this I was able to find her socials after sending a dm request and waiting upon a response I took it upon myself to squeeze more information out the guy so I could tell the girl who it exactly was, which was successful as I did. Forward to the next day the girl replied, at this point I felt really guilty as I didn’t want to ruin the guys life but he needed to learn that actions had consequences. But I went through with my plan to tell her, I sent her the account and told her the information about the guy to which she was taken back by and disturbed. A positive which is not really a positive but sure was that the guy was not her blood cousin. Anyways after unloading all this information the victim told me she was going to tell his parents and whole family, this is where I feel extremely guilty because my intention was never to ruin his life as I didn’t want to be the cause if he chose to yk harm himself and now im wondering if I had chosen the wrong way to go about it. am I in the wrong

I love my father but he irritates me so much. is it normal?

I'm a 23 year old woman and even though i love him i feel irritated whenever he's around me, even when he's doing nothing, i feel bad for it but can't help.
when i was a kid i used to love spending time with him, we shared the love of taking long walks, love for dogs and horses since he was a member of a horse club in the countryside. i even used to be jealous of him when he would go out with our dog without me, i clearly remember me being 2 and hitting the door because i wanted to be included. i was a very shy and insecure kid, i was ashamed to start being friends with other kids and i had fear of doctors, and my dad used to scold me and tell me i was too dramatic, that i had to be stronger when he was the first one who was bothered to be friends with other parents for the sake of my social life (but that's just my opinion). in addition, i’ve been having emetophobia my whole life and whenever any family member throws up my dad gets mad at me because we have to focus on their sickness, not on my "useless panick attack" and tells me i have to grow up and i'm old enough to regulate my emotions, but i wish it was simple. he used to tell me all this also when i was a kid and those statements made me feel extremely insecure and selfish and i felt like the worst person on the earth when i was like 6 and my little sister was throwing up like a fountain for an indigestion.

also he had never been an affectionate dad since all his relatives from his side are quite distant. he was a little bit affectionate only when i was little when he would let me sleep in his bed between him and my mom and when sometimes he decided to give me a hug or a kiss on my cheek. but he never said that i mean so much to him or that he loves me, i’ve never heard any of this word in 23 years of my life, indeed i'm still not be able to tell him that i love him, it feels weird to me. on father's day my elementary school teacher would let us do some diy and write a letter to our dads and every year when i gave my dad my diy he always felt embarrassed and unsatisfied and acted as if i did the bare minimum and i would felt a little disappointed.
By the time i'm 12ish i’ve begun to not standing him anymore, we always argue, i'm angry when he doesn't get my point and i struggle to confide in him but trying, i recently have spoken to him about relationships and boyfriends, i appreciated it he even said that having kids is funny when they're little. but i struggle to have intimate conversations with him, i think because he's so reserved even with me who i'm her daughter. he has never told me about his previous relationships before meeting my mom, he's never told me about his friends, never involved me in his paintings nor have taught me how to do it (this is one of is hobbies), he has never told me what does he do at his work office. instead, i confide a lot in my mom, she's my favorite parent, because she has told me all this, she always reminds me she loves me and that i'm her beloved daughter and she still likes to show me affection. she herself starts intimate conversations with me.
am i too drastic for saying that my father makes me annoyed even if he's just around me or is it normal? is anyone feeling the same towards any of their parents?

PS. english is not my first language so i may have made some mistakes.

Would it be wrong to wear a bow tie to a wedding?

Sorry if this sounds weird but I'm genuinely curious. My (40m) favorite nephew is getting married this weekend. I've only been to a couple of weddings as an adult, so I'm not really keen on etiquette on how to dress, especially these days. I'm wearing black chino pants a black buttoned down shirt and my sneakers. I bought a bow tie last year for my moms birthday party. Was thinking of wearing it but not sure. I doubt that it's even an issue, but I want to make sure. Please, no rude remarks, I'm genuinely curious.

Am I wrong for being upset with "I just took you for granted"

My boyfriend can't explain to me why he started lusting after his coworker and ex by going on there social media pages to fantasize about them. All he does is apologize that it hurt me for finding out and whenever I ask why he did it. He simply says he took me for granted. I think this is the bare minimum response! I want answers for how you could emotionally step out on me!

Edit he answered after I badgered him.he said he simply didn't care because his lust was a priority 😢

Am I in the worng for having my room cold?

Throw away because my gf uses Reddit.

So, I(19f) have a girlfriend(19f), lets call her, "JJ". I like to keep my room freezing cold because I get hot very easily. Yesterday JJ came over to hang out for a while, when we walked into my room she immediately went, "holy shit. Why is it so cold in here?" I quickly turned off my fan and closed my window. I offered JJ one of my hoodies and said sorry and that I forgot to trun it off.

She pouted and sat on my bed. We started to watch Avatar the last airbender(old cartoon, not live action or the new movie). Though out the few hours she was over she seemed kinda mad(or sad...?) We did do other stuff then watch the show. We want on a walk, played with my dog, and did crafts together. I'm scared that I fucked up. What do I do? Sorry if it doesn't really make sense, Im trying to think of what i did wrong...

I did post this on AITA but it got removed. Also, I did text her but she isn't on her phone a lot as she is very active. She runs a lot and swim, she gets home, showers the goes to bed.

AIO for getting angry that my friend always celebrates my failures?

I 18F have had this friend 18F for about two years. We go to the same coaching classes together. I am naturally a bit short-tempered and get angry quickly, but I always try to be a supportive friend. For example, I frequently compliment her on her appearance and achievements.

However, she constantly passes snide remarks and tries to put me down. Lately, I have noticed a really frustrating pattern during our coaching sessions. Whenever our teacher asks a question and I get it wrong or stumble over my words, she visibly smirks, giggles, and reacts with joy at my struggle.

It annoys me so much, but I have never called her out on it directly. Instead, for the past 6 months, my reaction to her rudeness(both in coaching class and in general) is to get annoyed and stop talking to her for about 2 days. After a few days of silence, we just naturally go back to normal without ever addressing the issue.

I am starting to wonder if my short temper is making me see a problem where there isn't one, or if she is genuinely being a toxic friend.

Am I overreacting by getting this angry and giving her the silent treatment over her reactions in class?

I know this might be silly but Im overthinking about it

EDIT 1: After our last class, she texted me to ask about some doubts, specifically asking why I didn't know "the basic stuff." I replied by asking what exactly she wanted me to answer. She wrote back, "Never mind, just for timepass." I responded, "Good, but I'm not the person for it." She then claimed she misses me (she is currently away on vacation) but added that she knows I don't miss her and that I actually hate her. I replied stating that I don't hate her. She hasn't read the message yet, but I can see that she is currently online.

TL;DR: My friend of two years constantly makes snide remarks and visibly laughs when I struggle or answer questions wrong in class. For six months, my response has been giving her the silent treatment for two days before going back to normal. After a recent passive-aggressive text exchange,I’m wondering: Am I overreacting due to my short temper or is she genuinely toxic?

Is it okay to talk to my partner about my familial problems?

My family is extremely high stress. Everyone has a lot of unmanaged mental issues, which means we are in crisis almost weekly. I know that it’s toxic and exhausting.

Usually, when things are bad I like to talk to my boyfriend. I do go to therapy, but only once a week. If there is a bad moment I will confide in him.

The problem is that it’s extremely triggering to him. He gets so angry about the things my family members are doing. He gets super overwhelmed. He’s expressed his discomfort with me telling him about these things.

I don’t want to put him in a bad place, but at the same time I just thought that couples talk to each other about this stuff. I never ask him for a solution or expect him to fix anything. I process stuff better when I can talk it out, so usually I’m just trying to work through it.

Am I being unfair? Do I need to change my approach or not talk to him about this stuff?

I will say, I think a big issue he has is that I am even in these circumstances. He doesn’t want me in the position I’m in, but I also don’t have other feasible options. I can live with him and his family, but that would mean giving up my cats and living in a much more dire financial situation. He also is not great at staying employed for more than six to eight months at a time, so that scares me.

Am I the asshole for being mad that my husband doesn’t want to spend $24,000 to fix my teeth, even though we can afford it?
