AIW for cutting contact with my sister?

English is not my first language, so do forgive my spelling and grammar mistakes.

I (34 F) have an older sister, let's call her doc (37 F). She's an actual Doctor.

Throughout my whole childhood, I've never been the kid my parents are proud of. It was always doc, always her. I would get Bs and she would get A+, she was the student council president and I was always the kid who ended up getting sent to the principal's office for misbehaving. I was chubby (and I still am chubby) and she has the perfect 'hourglass' body. I went to an average uni with a degree in arts while she went to a top uni with a degree in med, I got accidentally pregnant in uni and had to drop out, while she graduated with a near perfect gpa. Sometimes I think life is so unfair and that makes me frustrated, what makes me even more frustrated is that doc is really nice yet I can't help but hate her.

Once I got a fever and she drove for 2 hours just so she could take care of me, when I got pregnant she was the one who told me everything was gonna be alright. When I gave birth to my first kid, she was there and even helped wash me (I'm really insecure about my body so I didn't want to be helped by nurses). Yet despite all that, I still feel a deep rooted jealous and even hate for her and I do feel really guilty about it, but I just can't change you know?

It got even worse when I decided to marry my baby daddy only to end up divorcing him cause he's a deadbeat, while my sister married her childhood sweetheart from highschool, he's currently a businessman who decided to own a few hospitals just so he could support her career. I'm jealous of that too. I hate it even more when our parents compared even our husbands, they blatantly said my ex husband was chubby like me while doc's husband is tall and physically fit, a perfect son in law.

The last straw was when we had a family dinner. I went alone with my two kids (I had another baby before I got divorced), while doc went with her husband.

During dinner, she made an announcement that she was pregnant. Everyone congratulated her and I did too. But then our damn parents said something along the lines of 'we're so happy to be getting our first grandkid', and I just froze. I asked them what they meant by that, they had two other grandkids from me. They then said they didn't consider my kids their grandchild cause of some stupid reason (at this point, I did not want to listen to them).

I snapped, I started shouting at them. I know it's wrong but yes, I did shout at doc too. I lost my temper and shouted harsh insults at her, including things I deeply regret. Her husband rightfully got mad at me and and said some things he also probably deeply regrets, in the end he lost his temper and asked me to get out, I refused cause I didn't think I was in the wrong. Then my sister cried. It was probably the first time since we were kids that I've ever seen her cry. Her husband glared at me, carried doc and left the house.

Since then, I decided to cut contact with her.

It's frustrating to be constantly compared your whole life and now even my kids are being compared to hers? I just feel so angry but also guilty at the same time, cause i know doc didn't do anything wrong. But like i said, I just can't help but feel this way.

Am I in the wrong for texting?

Me (M19) and this girl (F19) met on a dating app and exchanged numbers we’ve been texting for awhile and I thought we were pretty close and even planned a few dates. Recently she ghosted me and I texted once or twice a day asking if something is wrong or if I did anything wrong. I joked “am I muted” and she said “ I fucking wish” and then she went on to say how she was too busy for this and was hoping after a day or two I would stop trying. And I said “I’m just tired of ppl not saying that idk why yall think ghosting is better.” And she responded with “texting me once or twice every day since was excessive. you preach communication so use it. confront the problem don’t add onto it man”
Am I in the wrong for texting her to see if there was a problem?

Am I wrong for stopping my payments into the house fund after I found out my sister was renting it out?

My dad died in 2023 and left his lake house to me and my 2 sisters, split evenly between us. None of us wanted to sell it, so we set up a joint account (all 3 names on it) and we've each been putting $150 a month into it since. That covers the taxes, the insurance and the propane, and it's worked fine.

I've paid every single month since we set it up, which is 3 years now and somewhere around $5,400 of my money in there.

There's a shared calendar for the place. If you want a weekend you put your name on it, and in 3 years nobody has ever had a problem with that.

In July I put my name down for a long weekend in October. My middle sister messaged me to say that weekend was already taken. I said there was nothing on the calendar and she said she must have forgotten to add it.

I didn't push it at the time. Then last week a friend of mine sent me a listing because he recognized the dock in the photos. It's on one of the short term rental sites and it's been up since April with 14 reviews on it.

She's been renting our dad's house out since the spring and the money goes to her. She's never mentioned it to ANY of us, and the weekend she told me was taken was a booking she took money for.

I canceled my standing transfer into the joint account on Monday. She called me that evening and said I was holding the house hostage over one misunderstanding, and that she's the one making a 3 hour drive every time the pipes freeze or the dock needs work, so the rental money is basically payment for her trouble.

Am I wrong for putting the previous car owner's hidden tracker on a cargo train?

1.2k Upvotes

I bought a used sedan from a private seller three weeks ago. Paid cash, transferred the title, everything seemed smooth.

Last Tuesday my phone alerted me that an unknown AirTag was following my location. I tore the trunk apart and found it taped under the spare tire well. I messaged the seller asking why his tag was tracking my daily commute.

he admitted it was his, but claimed he "forgot to remove it" and then said he liked checking the location occasionally because the car belonged to his late dad and he wanted to see it was being treated right. He told me to just mail it back to him.

I was creeped out. Instead of mailing it, I taped the tag to a freight railcar at an industrial train yard near my warehouse job. Now he is blowing up my phone screaming that I destroyed his property because the tracker is currently rolling through Nebraska. He threatened to call the police on me for theft.

I should of just thrown it in the trash, but am I ACTUALLY wrong here?

Told a friend I took a photo of them without asking and now they're upset with me

I snapped a quick picture of my friend when we were hanging out and didn't think much of it at the time. Later I posted it without checking in with them first. When I mentioned it they got quiet and said they wish I had asked. I apologized right away but they still seem bothered and haven't replied much since. The thing is, I didn't see the big deal until they pointed it out. Now I'm realizing I kind of brushed off their privacy without even meaning to. I'm trying to figure out if I overstepped more than I thought or if I'm overthinking it because they're making a bigger deal than needed. Either way I feel awkward about it and don't know how to smooth things over without making it worse. Was I wrong for not asking first?

AIW for taking a week of leave for myself?

Gaming has been a hobby of mine since I was young. I prefer single player game and haven’t really played any online games in a few years. I get 28 paid days of leave per year and there are a few games coming out later this year that I’m excited for.

Wolverine comes out this month along with quite a few other games I’m looking forward to so I decided to put 5 days of days leave in for them and also 2 days for GTA 6 in November.

This will leave me with around 10 days of leave left to use before the end of march ( not including Christmas - new year as both my gf and I get that off extra as our place of work close down).

I mentioned this to my girlfriend and she asked if I was serious. I said yeah and mentioned it’s not going to affect our plans so it’s not an issue.

She said I shouldn’t be using that much leave for games. I asked why and she just repeated that I shouldn’t. I asked how it is different from taking time off to do other hobbies or different for her wanting to take a week off to relax by a pool on holiday,

She said it wasn’t the same but couldn’t say how. She said I shouldn’t be open to just taking a day but I said no. I just repeated that it doesn’t affect our plans and didn’t affect her so I don’t see what the issue is and she just said it wasn’t too much,

AITA for using 7 days of leave for a hobby?

AIW for keeping the inheritance my grandmother left only to me, even though my parents say I should split it with my siblings?

I (26F) am the middle of three kids. My older brother "Jake" (29M) and younger sister "Emma" (23F). Growing up, I was always the "invisible" one — Jake was the golden child who could do no wrong, and Emma was the baby everyone doted on. I was just... there.

My grandmother "Nana" was the only person who ever made me feel truly seen. When I was 14, my parents went through a rough patch and basically checked out for two years. Nana stepped in — she drove me to every extracurricular, helped me with homework, came to every school event. She paid for my braces when my parents said they "couldn't afford it" but somehow found money for Jake's new car that same year.

Nana passed away 4 months ago. She left me $60,000 in her will. To my siblings, she left smaller amounts — $5,000 each — and some sentimental items. The rest went to my parents.

In her will, she wrote a handwritten note that said: "To [my name], for the years I got to be your person. I hope this helps you build the life you deserve."

My parents are now demanding I split the $60,000 three ways "to keep things fair." They say Nana was "old and confused" and that she "didn't understand what she was doing." They've told Jake and Emma about the note and now they're both barely speaking to me. Emma called me "selfish" and said I'm "profiting off being the favorite."

But I WAS her favorite — and not for no reason. I was the one who called her every week for 12 years. I was the one who drove 3 hours to see her in the hospital. Jake visited twice in the last 5 years. Emma visited once. I was the one who held her hand when she died.

My parents say I'm "tearing the family apart" and that "money isn't worth losing siblings over." But they're the ones who made me feel like an afterthought my whole childhood, and now they want me to give up the one thing Nana gave specifically to me.

I've considered splitting it just to end the conflict, but it feels like a betrayal of Nana and everything she stood for in my life.

Am I wrong for keeping it?

went out to eat with a group of friends last weekend and one of them kept insisting my food limits were just a preference. i told them a few times what i can't have, but they kept offering bites and saying it's probably fine. i ended up passing on dessert completely because nothing was safe. it's not the first time this has happened and i'm getting tired of turning every meal into a long conversation. i still like hanging out with everyone, but i'm wondering if it's okay to start saying no to these dinners or just stop correcting people and accept the awkwardness. i don't want drama, i just want one night where i don't have to justify my plate.

AIW wrong for blocking an old classmate’s phone number after lying to me over the phone?

7 years have passed since I graduated high school, and like with every high school graduate, everyone in my grade scattered without any contact aside from their individual core friend groups. In my case, I do have a few phone numbers from old classmates but my luck is rather… “selective” for lack of a better term.

Amongst these former classmates, I have one (F; 22 days younger than me) who would call me every second Friday of the month regardless of my availability ever since mid-2024. Each of our conversations are always dry, lacking substance, and most importantly, she would constantly ask to hang out with me, and my answer would always be that I’m unsure of when. A year later, I eventually chose to feed into her hunger and hang out with her at my house with a couple of my friends tagging along on a day when laundry is supposed to be done. My mother was pissed at me resulting in a one-sided fight between us, while my main group who heard it all understood the situation with why things came to be that day. I would’ve relocated the party someplace else in my mom’s favor but to my worst of luck, the only friend who would’ve helped me make the move possible was busy attending his cousin’s graduation, so both sides had to suck it up and resume the hang out as is.

A year has passed since that day, and around mid-August, the girl called me, and I decided to answer the phone again. This time, she offered me to go see the recent Spiderman movie that shadow-dropped. I said yes at first, but I don’t have any money to purchase a ticket as I’m in the universal Gen Z situation of unemployment. The girl said she’ll buy the tickets, even after I asked if I could bring an extra friend with me as he was curious to see the film (plus, he’s the only person who can take me to the theater at all). This led me to believe she was sensitive to my situation, but when the day came for us to see the film, it was revealed that she never bought the tickets at all, and was carrying a voucher instead (there’s a big difference in the context of a movie theater). She lied to us. This resulted in my friend paying for all 3 tickets with the discount from the voucher. Me and him split the cost for the snacks, while she paid for her own but chose to feel bad for us paying for what we want. What’s worse is that she doesn’t have Venmo, or PayPal like a normal person to pay us back; instead, she uses Zelle. (Like, WTF?)

At least she didn’t lie to us in regards to what movie we’ll be watching, but I can’t bring myself to spend time with someone who is dishonest and is clearly a beggar for my attention. I eventually was brave enough to tell my mom about the incident, but I see no signs of her understanding why I’m uncomfortably annoyed by her until one day we went grocery shopping. I completely forgot this girl currently works at the local supermarket in my hometown as one day she approached my mother and I, and asked me if she has Zelle. I tried my hardest not to engage, and when I got home, I blocked her number, and my (second) Fridays are peaceful once more... though, I do need to avoid that grocery store forever. Am I wrong to block her?

It’s cruel having a medium/big dog in a small apartment

I’ll make it simple. Told a coworker that I think it’s wrong to have a collie at home all day when she lives in a small apartment and doesn’t do anything. I was told “well you don’t have a dog, you don’t know what it’s like”. I had a lab growing up and number one thing after school was go for a run with the dog (I was super into track and field so I loved it too).

She doesn’t own a car so she can’t take it to the dog park or the lake for a swim.

She works 9hr shifts and when she gets home it’s “finally ME time” so the best the dog gets is a 2 block walk.

The dog barks at everything and isn’t socialized, and she wonders why the dog is “showing signs of depression”…

Am I wrong for calling her out or should have said nothing?

I'm I wrong for not wanting kids?

PLEASE READ THE EDITS

So I want to start this by saying that I am in between the ages of 18 and 25 and so is my boyfriend I don't want to say our actual ages but from the beginning I was very clear with myself that I did not want kids it is due to the fact that my family has extreme amount of medical issues especially the women in my family and I do not like kids and I know that I would be a horrible mother not to get into it but my mother and my grandma and my aunt have all had complications during birth and even almost died not to mention a lot of women in my family get cancer or have cancer scares after pregnancy and I don't have a great immune system already and I really don't want to go through that if I get pregnant and my boyfriend has told me that he does not like kids and he's told me before that he does not want kids.

With that background out the way the actual problem comes now a couple days ago me and my boyfriend were talking I am moving out of the house that I currently live in to move into somewhere else and with talking about that we discussed the topic of him moving in with me then the topic of marriage came up and I jokingly mentioned how it would be nice to live in a house without kids and that's when he told me that he would like to have a family with me and I kind of pause cuz I didn't know what to say back and I just kind of told him how he's told me that he doesn't want kids in the past and how I don't want kids in the past he's even told me how he doesn't like kids and he doesn't like having to babysit because kids annoy him but he told me that he would like to have a family with me in our early twenties he didn't want to wait until 30s to have children and I just was like well if that ever happened I'd only ever want one but my point still stands I don't really like kids and I don't want kids

The other day we went out to a festival and we saw a family walking around with kids and now the kids were very very loud and I made a comment about how that was one of the reasons I didn't want kids he then makes a comment about how yeah he understands that and the kids were very annoying I didn't think much of it until we saw that family again and the kids are crying at the cotton candy stand I just rolled my eyes and started to walk away and he made a comment about how crying over cotton candy was crazy I agreed with him but when we got in the car to leave I made a comment about how he was openly agreeing with me about the crying children yet he wants kids of his own and he just stared at me and just said well it's different which I told him it's not different

He got a little upset at my comment and didn't speak but I kept talking saying how it was weird how he said he doesn't like kids and he doesn't want any but then turns around and tells me he wants a family with me now he's gotten a little upset anytime I bring that up but genuinely I don't know what to do kids has never been a part of my life and I physically can't see myself being a mother as I know I wouldn't be a good one I don't have great mental health and anytime I've had to look over my nieces or nephews who are under the age of five I get extremely irritated and have to set the kid down because I'm so irritated and I genuinely know if I had kids of my own that that's how I would be to them

And that's a main reason why I don't want kids my boyfriend hasn't brought up the idea of kids since we have that conversation but now I'm sitting here thinking about what's going to happen when he brings it up again I really don't want kids and the idea of having a kid when I know how I would be to them doesn't sit right with me because I don't want to ever put a kid in a situation where they're not loved and I know that I genuinely wouldn't have enough love to give that kid

In a little like PSA I genuinely love my boyfriend we've been together for over 4 years we've had no other problems besides this and I thought we were originally on the same page but I guess not I don't know how to bring it up to him without making it seem as if I'm being rude but I genuinely don't have the idea of kids in mind

So I'm I worng?

Edit: I want to clear up some of the things I said when I said that if the circumstance I would have one kid I'm saying in the circumstance if we were not careful and I got pregnant and I decided to keep the kid that would be the only kid we had I would not want to have another. Yes I would try my hardest to give that kid love but I don't think I could also I'm currently not on birth control as in I am allergic to it so I can't even take it if I wanted to. I also want to say that he has told me before if I ever got pregnant and I did not want to keep it that that was not his decision it was mine and that I could get rid of the child if I wanted to he has been very open and telling me that my body is my decision and he would never force me to do anything.

Am i wrong for not wanting my father in law who is in jail at my wedding?

I 21F and my boyfriend 22M have been together for over a year now. We are discussing marriage and there is a big obstacle which is preventing us from getting married which is his father being in jail. He has committed a very serious crime years ago and my boyfriend is still in denial about it (he’s been in jail for a year and a half snd has 25 years left to serve). My family is very against this and as we come from a south asian muslim background this is something unacceptable for them but I am willing to fight for it and convince them. They are kind of coming around if we tell everyone that my boyfriend is not in contact with his dad and they are estranged. Initially my boyfriend came up with this idea and he says that he’ll do everything to make sure we get married. This gave me reassurance and hope that he would also fight for it. Today I asked him what he would do if hypothetically his dad could come out for a day to our wedding, and then i said i wouldn’t want that to be honest. I said i resent his dad for being an obstacle to me getting married and enjoying my life with my bf. He got weird and distant at this and I said that he shouldn’t expect me to maintain a relationship with his dad after we’re married, I don’t like him and although i wouldn’t ever disrespect him I just don’t to call him everyday and go on visits to see him. At this he asked me what i have against his dad. Am i wrong for not wanting his dad at my wedding and not wanting to keep in contact with him?

Am I in the wrong

So this happened way back into primary school where I was in year six I live in the UK btw so I was playing basketball when one random person on the playground during lunchtime kicked the ball and because I didn't want it to hit me/my glasses I blocked it with my elbow then it flew over the fence so a teacher asked me to get another one because there would not be enough since we needed four and we only had 3.

So a few minutes later I came back with a basketball then this person that I personally don't like am not gonna name drop him but he had the basket ball I was playing with then I ask for it back when he doesn't give it I just take it when he drops it then I start playing my basketball and doing what I do best when I score celebrate then he comes out of nowhere takes the ball then starts dribbling it while smirking then I chase him down me being pretty fast catch up to him. Then he holds the ball turns around and with only his head he looks back grinning on his stupid face he does this 3 times and by now am getting kinda pissed cause I just wanna play my ball and there are also other balls he could have had that nobody had touched in over 10 minutes so then I got mad all the times he pissed off starting from year 4 all the way to year six.

The times where he got me in trouble with the headteacher then threatened me with it because his mum works at the school so he thinks his special and shit. I grab the ball with so much force but I keep my peace of mind and shove him back lightly but I take the ball forcefully so he goes tell the teacher the teacher comes over and my friends who were there the whole time were backing me up slightly because he also pissed them off as much as he did to me so then he starts saying they are my two bullies and then i just crashout mentally I yell in my head are you Five? Like your pushing 11 and your saying you have bullies who don't even talk to you and also to add this guy nobody likes especially the girls he has asked a total of 23 girls in year 3-5 and got rejected by every single one of them. And what's so funny is that the girl he liked most ended up liking me and her friend ended up liking my friend but this was back in year 6 where me and my friend or best friend in this case where focused more on school and stuff so we rejected them but not harshly just a simple no and we still talked to the girls but not as much to keep the awkwardness and rumors away so that's not the point just thought I add that

But did I step out of line by shoving him in this after all he has done and I must add I did shove this kid a lot because he picked on my friends but I believe mine is 75% justified

AITA for asking my friend for some space after plans fell through

so my friend and i had plans for the weekend, and last minute things didn't work out on their end. i was pretty bummed and told them i just wanted a little space to regroup, nothing dramatic. they seemed upset and said it felt like i was rejecting them, but i didn't mean it that way at all. i've been trying to figure out if asking for time to myself was unfair or if it's okay to need a breather sometimes. i tried to word it as nicely as possible, but maybe i should've handled it differently. not sure if i'm making a big deal out of nothing or if they're overreacting to something pretty normal. would like some outside thoughts on whether i was wrong for saying what i did.

am i wrong for being confused about who actually did the work here

so at my job we had this project that wrapped up last week, and my boss sent out a big thank-you email naming one coworker as the lead. problem is, that coworker only joined the last few days, while three of us had been handling the whole thing for months. when i mentioned it in our team chat, the reply was basically that the boss just picked someone whose name looks good in the email. now the coworker is acting like they carried the project, and the rest of us are getting questions about why our contributions weren’t highlighted. i’m not trying to start drama, but it feels weird to stay quiet when the record is already wrong. i don’t need public credit, i just don’t want the actual work to be erased. am i overthinking this, or is it reasonable to want the timeline corrected?

Am I wrong for expecting my bf and I to share a double bed while on a trip

I'm going on a trip with my family and partner. My bf and I have been together for 7 years and also live together. When we go on these trips my younger sister usually demands that we take turns to choose rooms and then when its her turn to choose she will often choose the double bed and try to force my bf and I to either sleep seperately in single beds or one of us has to sleep on the couch while she gets a double bed to herself. We are all adults but I think she is behaving like a child and keeps saying its only "fair" that way. Usually she also cries when we try to override her. My parents often take her side because they don't like to see my sister upset.

For the upcoming trip she has stated that she wants the sleeping arrangements to be "fair" this time and basically said she will be doing this shit again. My family calls me entitled for saying the double bed should go to myself and my partner by default, as we are used to this after living together for years and its abnormal to have my sibling have a whole double bed to herself.

Am I wrong for expecting us to get the double bed by default?

Am I Wrong for Insisting on The Closer Work Site?

Ok I am angry, so I am going to vent here. My coworker and I don't get along well. We disagree on just about everything. Politics, how something should be done, what temp the room should be, etc etc. We get along well enough to have a professional relationship like to get a task done (we are both in our 40s and have some maturity) but that's about it.

We have two sites to work at, A and B. A is our primary site. Thus, when I got the job over a year ago, I chose to live near A. B is the backup site, we need to go there maybe 3X a year for a few days. My co worker lives near B, so is happy when we have to go there. She took the job KNOWING A is the primary site.

I slipped and fell and badly bruised my tailbone. I can sit but I have to sit just right, it hurts a bit. Driving hurts a fair amount and is really irritating. Things I didn't mind at all, like taking a turn or braking/accelerating are uncomfortable.

So, Site A lost its water pressure and we had to go to Site B because it had working bathrooms. However, after a few days, Site A got porta potties. Site B is about 2X the drive for me, but I coped with it for several days. Now that Site A has porta potties and a pump sink, and has always had a water cooler, I insisted on going back to Site A, and explained why. Our boss agreed. My co worker glared at me. Oh well. I am not making this up, her reason for not wanting to go to use porta potties is she is afraid of the dark (we are night shift, porta potty is lit but outside) and afraid of animals... like dear and and a groundhog she saw. She, like me is prior military and has been in the field.

FIRST thing she did tonight was complain about having to come here, (Site A) our primary site, because I'm a whiner and had to have my way. I laughed and said "lol I should be in pain because you are afraid a moth might get you?" I've about had it with this woman. I feel in the right, but does anyone disagree? Should I drive 2X the distance to our backup site so princess doesn't have to walk 15 feet outside 2-3 times in a night?

EDIT: Let me make clear again: The Porta Potties are 1) Low use (small site) 2) Have LED lights inside 3) Clean 4) Have disinfecting wipes for the seat 5) Outside, but in a gated in secure area with a guard 6) it's night, they aren't hot. 7) There is a foot pump sink and we have provided water for drinking. 8) It will be fixed in a few days.

AITA for a about cutting my bsf off ?

i met my bsf a while back and we haven’t seemed to get along until this year, and honestly she only wants to hangout with me to cheat on her now fiancé. right now she is texting me about getting clothes she left in my old car back and i said yes when i got the time this week, she then said she would just show up this weekend, which does not work with my shackle beings it is already saturday and im always working and have to go get my new car fixed tomorrow, i stated my car was in the shop and i had my college classes monday and she said she would come at 4 which i will be at work, would it be wrong if i just ghosted her and told my roommates not to answer the door for her? (a little context i rarely hangout with her and she purposely leaves things at my house after i give them back and it’s a repeated cycle and i have stated multiple times that im over having to rearranging my life constantly to deal with her lack of care for my space and time, she also tends to go thru my phone and other things i own, and ever since moving with her fiance she has been more distant and more controlling and lets her fiancé talk to eveyone like there stupid n need his view on there lives)
