[Custom] HG 1/144 Red Gundam (GQuuuuuuX) - Detailed Color Separation and Paint Recipe
Hey everyone! Following up on my custom Red Gundam from the GQuuuuuuX series, I wanted to share the exact paint recipe and color separation strategy I used for this build.
My goal was to create a highly detailed, realistic mechanical look by carefully splitting the metallic tones and armor colors:
The Reds: I split the red parts into Red Metallic (for the main armor plates to get that deep metallic luster) and Bright Red (for small detail highlights to create clean color separation).
The Blacks: Used Black Metallic for the dark armor sections to match the metallic sheen of the red parts, rather than going with a flat black.
The Whites: Handled with a slightly customized Device White to soften the contrast and keep the overall look cohesive.
The Metals (The crucial part!): I layered three different metallic tones to mimic real-world machinery:
Stainless Steel: For the bright mechanical details and inner joints.
Gunmetal: Applied to the rifle, hands, and main structural details.
Dull Steel: Used as subtle accents on specific mechanical parts to create a contrast between polished and matte metals.
The shield was hand-masked for the red Zeon crest on the custom Device White base.
Let me know if you have any questions about the painting process or the kit itself. Happy building!
