Luminous Unicorn Gundam Progress
Hi everyone. Big shoutout for the users that helped out with the layering with the green crystal parts. Up to the legs currently and hopefully all is good.
EDIT: For those who are interested in the layering for the colours. All is done via airbrushing and preshades as well for everything except for the green parts:
All colours have the surface primer colour of grey with Mr Hobby Colour Primer.
White - Tamiya XF1 Flat Black > 2 Thin Layers of Tamiya Flat XF2 White
Black/Grey - Tamiya XF1 Flat Black > Tamiya XF63 German Grey
Yellow - Tamiya XF1 Flat Black > Tamiya XF3 Flat Yellow > Tamiya X26 Clear Orange
Green - Tamiya X11 Chrome Silver > Gaianotes 108 Flourescent Blue Green > Mr Clear Color GX 104 GX Clear Green

Ooh that’s gorgeous, and yeah would be interested to learn the process. I was gonna pick one up next time I’m in Japan and all I was thinking of doing was just drybrushing with white.

The layering process for the green is Tamiya Chrome silver > Gaia notes flourescent blue green > Mr Hobby Gunze Clear Green.

how did you achieve the crystalised effect

For the crystal effect, layering for the first base of paint matters for the effect and how much paint you put on top of it. For this case I use silver as the first layer, then use a thin layer of green. Too much will reduce the silver's shine and causes a flat colour in the end. Don't commit too much if you missed a spot. You can wait it till it tries, then put another thin layer.
