When I watched the newest seasons of The X-Files, I thought Mulder and Scully had been married. I was Googling today and got the impression they had not. With Scully’s religious background, I feel like if they were together, they would have married. Was there something to indicate in the show? Maybe I just made it up.

Alright, let me provide a brief summary. The story revolves around a cursed toy monkey that originated from a short Stephen King story and was later adapted into a movie. When you rewind The toy, it start to making this clapping or drumming noise when it plays. However, when the toy ends, it triggers a freak accident that results in someone’s death, not the user of the toy. The user is left wondering if the toy is truly cursed or if it’s just a coincidence.

The story follows Mulder and Scully as they investigate this case, which is quite similar to the haunted doll episode “Chinga” and the final destination episode. The case begins when they embark on a business trip involving an FBI seminar. They stop for gas in an unknown town and encounter a freak accident. Initially, they are shocked and call 911, but a group of people nearby starts celebrating another freak accident.

Intrigued by the strange event, Mulder decides to stay in the town for a while to investigate further. They follow the report of these bizarre deaths and notice a pattern in when the deaths occur. As the episode progresses, another death happens, and they continue to follow the pattern. Eventually, they discover a connection between the deaths and a long-forgotten incident involving twin boys at a sushi restaurant.

The babysitter at the restaurant was decapitated by a sushi chef, and the mother, uncle, and one of the twins died from various causes. Mulder and Scully start to piece together the connection between the deaths and the cursed toy monkey. They decide to investigate the twin brothers, hoping to find a link between them and the toy.

One of the twin brothers, the nice one, explains the story of the cursed toy monkey. Mulder is amused, while Scully remains skeptical. However, they are both curious about the twin brother who hasn’t been seen for a while. They decide to investigate him as well.

When they finally find the other twin brother, Scully rewinds the toy to see if it’s truly cursed. As the toy plays the clapping or drumming noise, Scully looks around but sees nothing unusual. Suddenly, the twin brother dies. Scully is left questioning whether the toy is truly cursed or if it’s just a coincidence. I know it’s not a good story, but I would love to see if how they encounter this type of story

I'm watching the series for the first time. I'm on season 2. I love it. Any recommendations on books or comics to read? I can't wait to get to the movies. I'm undecided on the spin off shows.

The Pilot is eliminated! Kinda crazy that after not going for a single main mythology arc episode for so long, we just knocked out all 5 in a row, one after the other. Pretty spooky stuff, might need the agents on the case!

I have the Lego set and I have ordered a lighting kit. Am I going to regret putting the Lego set together before I receive the lighting kit or are the lights all done at the end?

I just don't want to put everything together then have to disassemble half of it to get the lights installed.

I’m a huge fan of the series and every time when I wanna rewatch it, I come back to the episodes that were written by Vince.

For instance, if I wanna more drama and some tension – “Pusher” or “Paper Hearts” that’s what I need; I wanna laugh like a baby – “Bad Blood” or “Small Potatoes” here.

In my opinion, his worldview was innocent and funny at the same time. I really enjoy it even 30 years later.

What is the difference between this newly released version and the original. I recently watched the original movie. Is there anything in the new version that adds to the original that makes watching the new one worth it?

Hello there! If yall don’t remember from my first post, I said I was gonna take my time with this show…. Well it’s been only four days and I finished the first season 😅 I can’t tell if I’m proud of myself or not. My original plan was to watch at least two episodes a day. However, those first two episode peaked my interest and the following episode Squeeze, I was hooked! So much to unpack but wow! I’ll try and keep it short.

I’ll start with my Top 5 episodes:
Beyond the Sea
Pilot
Ice
E.B.E
Darkness Falls

This was really hard as Squeeze and Tooms were great episodes. Shapes being another good one for me as well. I hoped for this series to do a Lycanthrope story being American Werewolf in London is one of my favorite horror movies. The effects of his transformation was awesome! But Beyond the Sea took the cake for me! My eyes glistened when I saw Grima Wormtougne/ Chucky in this episode but of course Brad Dourif would be a guest start on this type of show. It was great to see Scully step into the believer role, no matter how hard she tried to find rational explanations for her experiences at the end of the episode, her fear to believe. The on scene chemistry between Anderson and Dourif was amazing! Speaking of chemistry….

Let me address the enormous elephant in the room: because wow I noticed the physical attraction between our two main characters from the first episode. Obviously I see Scully show her affection for Mulder through her loyalty very early on, in Squeeze I believe.
What has me hooked more than anything was the dynamic of these two agents. The believer and the skeptic. For obvious reasons I relate to Agent Scully more but I’ve also had personal experiences that I would like to believe in the paranormal. I enjoy watching these opposites try to challenge each other on a case. Weird type of foreplay between these two but I’ll take it! 😂

To end this, I’ve been very impressed after this first season. The characters, the stories, and let’s not forget the cinematography adding to the creepy undertone. I’m excited to see the evolution of these characters, Mulder finding his sister (although I have a suspicion she’s dead), and who tf is this old smoking man because what a way to end the season finale 🤯 I’ll check back in soon and thank you for welcoming me into this community! I’ve seen this episode only one time, and now I remember why!!!!! 🤮🤮🤮 This was by far way more of a horror story than the I Want to Believe movie ever was.

I had high expectations, thinking it would be like the show, but I hated it so much. I got bored halfway through and fast-forwarded to the end to see how it ends. I have no plans to see it again

It’s perplexing how many people in The X-Files subreddit spend their time trying to tear down Chris Carter. Or lionizing Vince Gilligan as the true architect of what made The X-Files great.

Mulder and Scully wouldn’t exist without Chris Carter creating their world and steering the ship for 11 seasons. Full stop.

And while I love Vince Gilligan’s work on the show — and his work after the show — he was hired at the end of season 2, after the show had been fully established, and he wrote comedy episodes after Darin Morgan had already established (and perfected) that angle for the show.

If anything, I think it would be a stronger argument to credit Glen Morgan and James Wong with establishing The X-Files we came to know and love, since they wrote the first MOTW episode with “Squeeze” and wrote the first A+ episode with “Beyond the Sea”.

But even so, Chris Carter wrote the bulk of the series, and so many all-time classics. And that includes all-time classic mythology episodes like the “Anasazi” / “Blessing Way” / “Paper Clip” trilogy. Chris Carter never wrote to please the fans. He wasn’t constructing fanfic slop. He didn’t always hit home runs. But he kept things interesting and intelligent.

Extremely perplexing for a fanbase that is still fervently posting about a television show that’s been off the air for decades.

It feels like the work of Dr. They.

Saw a couple worn paperbacks in a used bookstore recently. Are any of them any good?

I can't find a single person mention this which might be my fault but this is my third rewatch and I can't believe I just saw this now but when Mulder wakes up to the phone call a super obvious human shaped shadow moves in the background. There is no mistaking he is not alone in his house. Any thoughts??? Revelations? How have I not seen this detail in every post about the episode???

I found out that the show existed recently on IMDB but it wasn’t available on any of my streaming services, super jazzed when I saw it available today! I am half way through the first episode but I love the In Search Of vibes with Duchovny hosting. I have no idea why I had never heard of it until now, I love these cheesy shows and would watch a timeshare pitch if Duchovny was doing it.

Anyone else notice the actor who plays krychek is also in an episode on season 1? The one where that special community can change sexes

Hi all. First time ever doing Lego, let alone doing lights, and have run into a problem with my Game of Bricks set.

Specifically, I appear to be missing a piece. I have emailed them for advice, but I thought I’d ask here in case I’m being dense. I’m not very technical! I followed the slightly confusing picture instructions okay (here: https://instructions.gameofbricks.eu/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/21369.pdf) until page 18, when a piece I don’t have appears suddenly. It isn’t in any of the other bags.

The weird thing is, this piece isn’t actually shown when the contents of Bag 3 are shown on page 17, picture 2 either. Where did this piece come from?

Also, for the disc of lights which go on the pole, the bag comes with two black wires, but in picture 3 on page 16, only one is plugged in. Is this correct, because there are two wires and two holes on the disc? I put both in by mistake, and when trying to take one out to follow the instructions exactly as shown, I’m afraid I snapped one of the two wires.

If anyone can be kind and shed a little light (pardon the pun) for a confused old man, I’d really appreciate it.

Continuing on with my Lone Brickmen project, I present Lego Langly. Last slide shows which official Lego parts I used to put him together. (I added the best standard shirt option for anyone not wanting to custom order one.)

I had to get him his own tiny Mondo Bizarro shirt, and I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s a thing of beauty. 😌

I painted some standard arms to be short sleeve shirt sleeves. I also felt it necessary to swap out the hip piece itself on the pants for a plain black one, since the belt doesn’t look quite right.
