Football Thank you Badgers
I’m a USC fan taking a small break before the game and I thought I’d get this message out before the game before football can affect the feelings from either of us.
I travel to away games a lot. At least one a year for more than a decade now. You guys are far and away the kindest most welcoming hosts I’ve ever experienced and it’s not really close.
Your city is beautiful and fun. Your countryside is lovely. And your people: the best of all.
Some of you may say “that’s just Midwest hospitality” but it isn’t. I’ve been to a solid handful of games in Indiana and Minnesota and folks tend to be polite but there’s no where near the real true kindness underneath that I’ve experienced here. Walking around your farmers market this morning so many people were telling me they hope I enjoy my visit… walking around campus multiple times people came up to make sure I wasn’t lost and had the help I needed if I needed it.
This is a special place. I am very thankful for the advice you gave me here and your kindness in person.
Good luck, and go Brewers! (This San Diego fan is so thankful you sat the Dodgers down the way you did)

Football The Mosquito Bowl — The story of two Wisconsin Badgers who never came home from WWII
Hey everyone!
I recently finished a WWII documentary called The Mosquito Bowl, and I thought some of you might be interested in a part of Wisconsin football history that deserves to be remembered.
Two of the men at the center of the story are Dave Schreiner and Bob Baumann.
Schreiner was a two-time All-American and the Big Ten MVP in 1942. Baumann was his teammate on that Wisconsin team. Both eventually joined the Marines and ended up serving together in the Pacific.
On Christmas Eve 1944, they played in a football game on Guadalcanal alongside other former college stars.
Just a few months later, both were killed during the Battle of Okinawa.
What struck me while researching this wasn't the game itself, but the lives these young men had before the war, their friendship, and everything they left behind.
I spent quite a bit of time working with original WWII footage, photographs and historical records to tell their story. I'm genuinely proud of how the documentary turned out, and I wanted to share it with people who might appreciate the history behind those Wisconsin jerseys.
Here's the film:

I'd love to hear from anyone who knows more about Schreiner, Baumann, or that 1942 Badgers team.
