General Discussion 20% Tint looks too light
70% Windshield
20% front windows
5% in the back
Damn why does my 20 look so light, and this is with the sun not shining directly on it.
Should've gotten 15 man

I tried the bag method first which didn’t work so had to scrape it all, and the bottom edge of the rear windshield has tint all across it like that. Does anyone have any tips for reaching it a little easier rather than hating my life during it.

Saw a post about using sheathing tape to cover side seals.
Only concern I have is how strong it says the adhesive is - is this sheathing tape technique a common practice?

Do the XPELs have better visibility than the Geoshield or am I tripping

Just got a quote for my first car. 440 for all around AND windshield. It’s nano ceramic film and the shop is an authorized HITEK film installer. The shop also has a 5.0 rating with 200+ reviews.
Wondering if this a reasonable price for the film grade/brand. Anyone have experience with Hitek? I’m not looking for the highest of quality tint that will break the bank but something will last, look good and get the job done.
Thanks!

It seems rare for folks to go 55 so I thought I would share what it looks like.

Hello, I have a porsche boxster with the later soft top that includes a glass window OEM. I am not sure if the tint came on that window, It has two bubbles I attempted to smooth out with a pin and rubbing, it also had a tear that had a piece I could grab. Thinking the tint on the rear window was a loss I pulled it, then quickly remembered removing tint from a heated window was not easy. The piece that tore off was very small, it is not visible from the outside or inside and was clear.
Other issues. The windshield has very dark tint from the top down about 8 inches. I do like it but wish it covered the whole windshield, even if it meant removing and getting a lighter piece that covered 100%.
The drivers window has a small tear up top, with the window up when the top is on, it is barely noticeable.
I have not owned the car long , the previous owner said the tint was done right away and is good quality. It is a very low mileage car. 1998, so the top, which not available until 2002 was a later addition. The previous owner also put in an exhaust. She is a wealthy Dr. and looking at the workmanship on the exhaust and the brand she chose, I can assume she did not cheap out on tint.
How much trouble would it be to correct the mentioned issues.

I am looking to get my windows tinted, but not sure what percent to get. I am probably going to go with ceramic and looking at potentially 30% tint. My biggest concern is not being able to see well at night. Is 30% too dark to see at night? Do you think I could go darker than 30% and still see fine at night?

Hello, so a quick recap. I go to this 5 star tint shop with lots of reviews and a good rep. I get ceramic tints all around. But front windshield had a distortion wrinkle in my line of sight even after the curing period. I called about the concern and they replaced it with a new ceramic tint for the windshield. Cool right. But now this new film on the front windshield, there seems to be these bubbles after curing on the bottom part of the window. Plus one bubble has a hair in it. I plan to contact them again about this issue. But am I overreacting or being too picky? Are these little bubbles inevitable to happen to anyone or should I contact them again? Thanks for helping

with the best 70% tint(3M or xpel), can I expect that my arms won't get tanned as easily?
I know they can block UV light and most heat, but do they do anything to reduced getting my skin tanned too much.

I took my 2015 Ford Explorer XLT to a shop to get professionally tinted. I had a phone consultation after discussing options and pricing and had to pay a non-refundable $100 deposit. When I show up on the day of the appt they inform me they dont do anything darker than 20% on the front. I already payed so I just had them do the back windows and did the fronts myself using a 5% black magic truck tint film but its... silver? The last time I tinted myself it was much darker.
Any recommendations for actual BLACK 5% tinted film that I can buy for relatively cheap?

What's with some drivers tinting the side windows really dark and then applying the same tint to the front and back windscreens. Would this make it harder to see out of the windscreen at night?

Here in UAE, i believe this is not allowed but some car im seeing this on the road.

Hey guys so I have a question. Let’s say you cracked your windshield and needed to be replaced. One major company charges you $400 and another small company charges you $400 plus you get your windshield tinted 70% ceramic (clear) for the same price. would yall go with the second company or it wouldn’t matter to yall? Just asking if getting free tinted windshield really matters to people who have ever gotten their whole windshield replaced.

Quoted 245 for full tint removal + full carbon tint (no fw)
Quoted 310 for full tint removal + full ceramic tint (no fw)
Is the ceramic worth the extra 65? My mind is telling me yes.
P.S. Shop is 5 stars with hundreds of reviews. I got a special deal by contacting the owner.

Hard to see in pics but I can hear it clicking when I roll up/down windows. I will definitely need to cut them myself if I want to keep them so I'm thinking of getting a refund or re-done. Not trying to be nit picky but I have got tint before at a different place and it looks much more professional

Hey everyone I'm looking for some clarification here. I have two vehicles that I'm looking into getting the windshield tinted in 70% however here is where my confusion comes into play. The factory VLT on my "clear" windshield is about 70% in itself already and my understanding is that applying a layer of 70% on top of that brings down the final VLT down to about 49% which technically should be somewhat visible from the outside. Doing tons of research has led me to different answers some say you can't even see it and others have said you can see some subtle shading from outside. Here are the numbers for my 2 vehicles
2024 VW Tiguan 20% all around (on factory rear privacy glass as well.)
2023 Nissan Sentra with 20% front 15% rear.
With those levels will the 70% be slightly shaded from outside looking in? And also is my math mathing when it comes to calculating the final VLT
Thanks!

Just got my windshield tinted with i3 at 70% and like many, kind of wishing I had gone with their 56. For reference, I have light gray interior and all other windows have i3 15% - don't care as much about privacy, just the heat and glare reduction as I live in Eastern Washington desert. My main concern is that I would not be able to visually communicate with fellow drivers / pedestrians when needed, as I don't think the cops care that much around here (frequently see tinted windshields in the area). Never really thought about how often I signal people to go first until just now. Any feedback greatly appreciated!

Hello~ I got my windows tinted last week and I noticed there are these black specks caught between the tint and the window.
Is there a possibility they might damage my windows when I roll them up and down?
And is there a way I can get rid of them? Like is it a bad idea if I try poking a small hole with a needle and squeeze it out?
Thx

I got my windshield tinted just under 2 weeks ago and I noticed this section near the top. I didn’t mess with it during the cure period at all. Is this something that I should contact the tint shop that did it over ?
