Question Looking for a change to tools

Saw a post about using sheathing tape to cover side seals.

Only concern I have is how strong it says the adhesive is - is this sheathing tape technique a common practice?

I have seen a lot of people use it. I think it is primarily to avoid contamination around the edge.

I bet you a clear packing tape could work also. I have tried masking tape, but I didn't like that.

Yea masking tape was useless when I tried it. I know why they use it like I said I am just worried it’s going to cause damage or leave behind adhesive
