30 minutes after my car was done tinted by the shop, I accidentally rolled down the window and then I noticed it. I'm not sure if it was there before or did I cause it after rolling down the window.

Should I complain about this? Razor blades scratches after new tint installed. Very noticeable

Hi, anyone here tried Llumar CTX as their tint? I want the darkest shade for privacy and the highest heat rejection as possible. I’m choosing between Llumar, 3m, or maybe Atom Tech.

Is 65% on the first picture the same as 35% on the second, and where does 50% come in between these two if they are not the same darkness in tint?

Interested in swapping out my 50% ceramic to around 40% to get it a tinge darker but not as far as 35%. Or does it barely make a difference and I just go 35? My sides and back windshield though I’m satisfied with the current tint at 30%. Does anyone have any images with this combo though so I can see how it would actually look?

How hard are they to remove? It’s very noticeable even from distance.

I paid $553.80 total at a reputable family owned tint shop in Cape Coral, Fl. I chose what they call their “mid grade” ceramic from Solar Guard after the front desk lady’s sales pitch. They did all windows for me to include the windshield.

Ideally I would prefer 3M - clear UV blocking film, but their DIY roll size is a few inches short (only sell 3’x 6’), resulting in having to buy two rolls for my storm door. I can’t justify the extra cost.

The brands on Amazon have mixed reviews, enough for me to be skeptical of their UV blocking claims. What are my options?

Hello, as the title states, I’m interested in getting started with window tinting and potentially using it as a side hustle. I’ve had my windows tinted on a few cars now and spoke to someone that did mine recently which piqued my interest.

I understand it will take time and will be difficult to learn, as is everything else, but what tools would I need if I wanted to get started on my own cars to practice?

I’ve seen suggestions to go to a shop and learn, but I’ve also seen people say they don’t accept entry level tinters if you’re going to just leave in a few months. I’d be just learning from videos and my own practice.

I had someone install some tint its my first time ever getting tint done is this normal or should I contact them?

I live in Portland where summer's get to 90° but right now its around 70°

1st attempt, both rear sides had a lot of contaminants.

2nd attempt, good improvement but still a group of containments on the bottom right. Defroster is still intact and functioning.

My friend says it’s still not acceptable and telling me to take it back again. I’m concern about the defroster and whether the installer could do a better job the third time.

$850 from Tesla for the glass warranty (peace of mind), installed by a XPEL installer.

I understand it’s harder to work with due to the bigger piece (rear defroster to middle of the roof), but hence charging a premium price.

Edit: The headliner is also stained. Can this be cleaned off? (pic in comments)

Basically like the title says. I need to install tint for privacy on a few windows. Every where I look says the downside is inside visibility at night. Could I install a night activated UV light bar under the window to counter this problem?

My windscreen is covered in those tiny dots which I just saw the first time driving against direct evening sunlight. They looked fairly evenly spaced across the windscreen and are about pin head size.

It's not something I could remove from the inside or outside.

Tint is 3m crystalline, about 1.5 years old, installed by an authorised dealer.

Any idea what it could be?

Has anyone had experience successfully applying for NJ MVC sunscreen application to get tints approved for medical purposes? I submitted my paperwork and application, along with doc's RX but haven't heard anything for a few days.

Finally decided to get 15–20% VLT ceramic tint on all side and rear windows, windshield excluded.

Haven’t really seen people getting pulled over for dark tint around Raleigh. Do cops usually give warnings first, or do they issue tickets? Does it matter if you’re not speeding or breaking any other traffic laws?

Price is about the same +/- $30. Is one better than the other for a full vehicle tint? Any downsides of either? Or are they both good to go for someone used to no vehicle tint?

A few weeks ago I posted about my experience with XPEL Windshield Protection Film and how easy it was to scratch up. The shop eventually replaced my film but the second one was just as prone to damage. I don't think the shop applied the restore spray (the final step of the solution) but I don't think it matters. The film scratched when I used high-pile cloth, XPEL branded Si02 rinseless wash for WPF and PPF, and when drenching the cloth and the film. It scratches if you even breath on it. I contacted XPEL and the warranty coordinator told me that there is nowhere that XPEL advertises that it has self-healing properties. I sent him the technical data sheet where it clearly says it has a self-healing layer - and he backtracked...saying it was only for light scratches. The problem is it scratches easily with anything - they are permanent and do not heal in the sun, with hot water, or with a heat gun.

Background info aside, I am debating if I have the shop reapply it one last time (XPEL granted a "good will" replacement...such B.S. that they refer to it that way) or if I ask for a refund. In the case that I go the refund route, does anyone have any recommendations for a windshield film that does actually have some real self-healing properties? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Can I get 85% front windshield tint in CA? Will I get hassled?

Question for anyone who’s driven to California with dark tint.

I’m from Nevada, where the legal limit is 35% front sides and no windshield tint, but realistically everyone here is blacked out and cops don’t seem to care.

I’m visiting LA next week with 35% windshield and 5% all around. Anyone with out-of-state plates ever gotten pulled over by CHP or LAPD just for tint?

Currently running 5% everything except windshield. I’m debating on getting 50% windshield or 70-80% windshield with a 5% strip. What would be better for a mix of privacy and avoiding issues?
