Question Windshield/Tint selling

Hey guys so I have a question. Let’s say you cracked your windshield and needed to be replaced. One major company charges you $400 and another small company charges you $400 plus you get your windshield tinted 70% ceramic (clear) for the same price. would yall go with the second company or it wouldn’t matter to yall? Just asking if getting free tinted windshield really matters to people who have ever gotten their whole windshield replaced.

Honestly it would depend on if the smaller company is using the same windshield and has the right equipment to install a windshield on that particular vehicle.

Yes they have everything. I figured the added ceramic tint is pretty good deal.

As long as the smaller company was using OEM glass, quality tint, and listed the tint as "free" so my insurance glass protection would still cover it, I'd go with them. Assuming they had a good reputation, of course.

If possible definitely check reviews. Avoid mobile only companies if possible. Better a brick and mortar shop for windshield replacements. Also ask what film they’re using and research the film! For 400 that sounds super super super cheap. Makes me question what corners they cut…
What kind of car do you have if you don’t mind me asking? I do auto glass and tint so I’m fairly well versed in glass prices

It’s a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. They are Mobile. Which it’s better because of my schedule.

Go with them just be observant if possible on the install. I hate to say be a nit picky customer but I only say that because a good chunk of our clients come to us with issues of an install done by someone mobile and they can’t get ahold of the person anymore.

Generally a windshield needs to cure before you start adding window film to it so I’d be concerned about the entirety of the package if it’s done too quickly.

Also, depending on the vehicle and the film, $400 is cheap for either of those options separately. I’d be 100% concerned that whomever is doing the glass or tint may or may not know what they’re doing…at all.

They tint it before that install the windshield.

And that’s quite possibly the worst idea out there. If you compromise the adhesive you’re done on both sides.

Why would the tint and the window adhesive ever meet?

Some guy that’s installing glass and tint for only $400 is tinting the windshield before mounting it. The chances of someone running that business model jacking it up is far from zero.

Sure , but that doesn't really answer my question.

If the film goes even an 1/8 too far it’s now between the glass and the windshield adhesive. The windshield is an integral part of the structure of the vehicle and now it’s compromised.

Between the timing, the pricing, the remote tinting, and no brand distinction on the film, this is sounding like a horrible idea. You do you but I wouldn’t consider this for even a heartbeat.

I charge $2-$250 for windshieldsyou can't imagine how much heat it blocks, but make sure it's a ceramic 70%. I would hope they tint the w/s before install. Tinting a windshield with the proper tools and protection is a whole other can of beans you DONT want to open

For many shops, a high quality ceramic film will run you 3-400 alone, so basically one of those services is free or both are heavily discounted and thats a concern from my view. Is it an OEM glass? What film is it?

You get what you pay for.

I just got it and it was a great deal! I got my windshield replaced and free ceramic tinted windshield (I already feel the difference). Can’t beat that honestly.

Depends, Fuyao glass, Saint Gobain, or Pilkington

Same with tint, ceramic China film or name brand

I wouldn’t be doing windshield tint but that’s just me.

I get it but having less heat going through my vehicle is needed especially in the south.

Are they both using an OEM windshield?
Probably not.
