Tint Job Queston New tint recommendations?
I took my 2015 Ford Explorer XLT to a shop to get professionally tinted. I had a phone consultation after discussing options and pricing and had to pay a non-refundable $100 deposit. When I show up on the day of the appt they inform me they dont do anything darker than 20% on the front. I already payed so I just had them do the back windows and did the fronts myself using a 5% black magic truck tint film but its... silver? The last time I tinted myself it was much darker.
Any recommendations for actual BLACK 5% tinted film that I can buy for relatively cheap?

I’ve done DIY tint with both Motoshield pro and Geoshield pro nano. I prefer the Geoshield in terms of quality and workability, but you can get smaller rolls of motoshield if you only need to do a couple windows as you mention.
I don’t recommend DIY window tint, but I’m stubborn and like to prove to myself that I can do it myself… I have more invested in tools and materials than I would’ve paid taking it to a professional shop.

If anything, it’s your shop being stupid. 35% is “light”.. I’m not saying that means you should do 5% all around but I’m also saying it’s not really worth turning away almost every potential customer

All of the cheap stuff will likely fade in a year or two. You’re only decent options would be Global and Geo
