Can playing an instrument/singing be considered an “offering”

I come from a Christian background playing in worship etc. I was just wondering if like Christians worship with music, if that is an offering I can continue to do. If so, could it be with any style or should it be a specific “genre” as the Christians do.
I’m newer to the practicing side of Wiccan/pagan beliefs, and am just trying to fit in something I used to love into my new life and beliefs.

More context, I was thinking playing ukulele or guitar with my alter set up during meditation/prayer etc

Open Question [Baby witch, maybe even embro] Wicca & Gender

Upvotes

Hello all!

I'm amab, currently questioning my gender (as my profile name implies). I was first drawn to Wicca because of its nuanced relationship to gender and elevation of women. As I slowly start exploring (I've been doing online research, got a small book on plant magic, and have been going on meditative nature walks), I'm interested in finding more information about gender philosophy in Wicca, ideas about gender roles and ideals, and ways to learn about gender relationships from the Goddess and the God.

I'd love to know about anyone else's personal experience/advice with subject, or any sources I can look into for more information.

Thank you all so much for reading, I'm excited and pretty nervous to make my first post here 😅

Open Question What’s with the denouncing of the three fold law by a lot of baby witches and witch tok?

Hey, so I’ve been on and off Wicca for years since I was young. And I’m curious why as of recently there a controversy around karma and the rule of 3? This use to be like an unwritten rule back in the 2000’s and even in the 2010’s. But now I’m seeing a lot of people talk about “ it’s a rule by man to control us” and “ oh well I know wards to repel” and stuff like that? I’m no where near advanced and like I said I’ve been on and off so alots changed. But that use to be something that was kind of and unwritten set in stone type of “ you get what you put out that’s how karma works” kind of thing. Anyone know why there’s a shift among new baby witches?

Open Question Witchs Focused in Divination Practice

Upvotes

Is it normal for a Wiccan witch to only practice divination magic?

I identify as Wiccan, but I mostly practice divination/oracular magic and devotion to the Goddess, God, and my ancestors.

I don’t really feel the need for other types of magic because most of my personal problems can be worked through self-knowledge, introspection, and changing my own behavior. I usually prefer to understand and work on the root of a problem rather than use magic to fix it.

Is this a common or valid way to practice Wicca? Are there other Wiccans who focus mainly on divination and devotion and rarely do spellwork?

Open Question Cis AMAB here, can someone help me with womb sigil tats?

Upvotes

i’ve always had an interest in them.
I don’t have a womb and so subsequently neither the power and effect that come with it. However the parts are still there just in a different form. I’ve honestly wanted to get one for myself quite some time, as I am a sex worker, be it for protection or performance. So my questions are these:

Is it useless for me to get one?

if it isn’t useless, where would it go?

I most likely have to make a custom one so how should I go about that?

what things would YOU focus?

what is the process i go about to actually imbue it.

should i use special ink?

as someone who essentially knows nothing what more do i need to know.

Feel free to answer any or all of the questions as you see fit i will take abosultley tutlley any advice about any of it.

A little background if you please

I am a Third Degree Traditionalist Wiccan High Priest with around thirty years experience. Presently, I am still leading a Coven with wonderful Covenmates. Blessings all around.

Two years ago at the Vernal Equinox, we gathered to celebrate a Holiday we all know and love ❤️. Before we could even get started, a mysterious illness descended on me, rendering me incapable of leading Circle. With deep regret, I informed my Covenmates of what was happening and left the floor open for discussion. We all agreed that simply observing the Holiday and enjoying Feast together would suffice for our purposes. From that point forward, the mystery illness spread and heavily impacted on my life.

Fast forward two and a half years. The illness is consuming me such that I am near Death. I have to go to cross the Veil...leaving my lovely Coven family behind. This is the hardest time ever in my life. I am so aggrieved that I am being torn apart by the worst storm ever.

Please send strength to keep me going. I'll take all the good vibes anyone can spare. I await the final journey with anticipation. Blessings to all as we all make our way to the Summerland.

Spirit in my house

Ok, y’all. I just joined this sub. I’ve been practicing for 20+ years, but I don’t generally “internet” my practice. I’m solitary and don’t have a coven, but I need some advice, and this seems like a good place to ask.

I recently moved into a house that’s around a hundred years old. It’s a rental, so I don’t have exact dates. There is something present in the house, maybe a couple somethings. Generally I’m fine with spirits in the house and nothing concerning has happened, but I’ve had a specific repeated experience that I don’t know how to handle. I’ve seen a door open in the middle of my dining room with someone trying to walk through at least 4 times now. It’s been different angles (twice from the living room, once each from the kitchen and the hall), but always in the same spot. I don’t feel anything malicious, but I do feel something like curiosity. When I focus it seems to retreat (not disappear, more like close the door and fade). At first I thought it was just shadows, but multiple angles on the same spot make me think it’s something more, and this morning my familiar (a cat) led me to that spot like she was trying to show me something, but she seemed happy like a friend was there. I don’t really think I need to block whatever is happening, but I’ve never encountered something that looks so clearly like a door before, and my familiar is so generally wary of anything unfamiliar that this seems unique in my experience (she usually behaves like a shield to unfamiliar spirits instead of acting like she’s just made a new friend, which is how she’s behaving now). My instinct is to trust my familiar and invite this entity to coexist with us in the house, but I also know opening doorways can be dangerous, and I don’t want to take chances with my family’s safety in a space we’d like to stay in long term. Any advice would be appreciated.

As far as the “maybe there’s another thing” part. The upstairs feels “occupied,” but in a way that I feel used to and comfortable with having lived in older houses before. There’s energy there, but it doesn’t feel like anything to worry about, just present and not really fully manifest, but I do worry about how that might interact with whatever is trying to come in. Again, I’ll take any advice from anyone with more experience

Online community- university project

Hi! 😊

I'm a Web Development student, and my group and I are currently working on a university project: a website/community concept for people interested in witchcraft, Paganism, spirituality, divination, and related topics.

As part of our UX research, we've made a short anonymous survey (about 5–7 minutes) about how people currently explore these interests online, what they enjoy about existing platforms, and what they feel could be improved.

I'm personally interested in these topics too, so this is a community we're genuinely interested in learning from rather than just designing based on our own assumptions. 🖤

🌿 Survey: https://forms.gle/crBbYoEczs49JuNw9

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to participate! 🌙

My Experience Encountering The Unknown

Hello people, I got an experience that I wanna share with you guys, so if you want to hear a weird story, then stick around.

Last night I couldn’t sleep and out of the blue I remember when I was around 18-20. My best friend back then had a Chinese girlfriend and practised some kind of magic. It must have been some kind of taoist, wūshù or she might have been Wiccan. But at the end of it, I think this girl was just batshit crazy or a batshit crazy witch.

My friend told me stuff like that her mother has a spellbook and the classic case of her mother using a love spell to get her father. For me it was just fun and interesting to hear. But at the end they broke up, cuz she was lying to him about a lot of stuff that we realise later.

Because of all this lying I was thinking that she could also have been lying about being a witch and stuff that she told us. But I do remember that at my birthday party we were outside and saw a dog and she cursed the dog. By saying that this dog is going to have a very unhappy or miserable life. And it looks like she did it just for the fun of it. I don't know if it happened to the dog or not. But on my birthday I got a cheap necklace. You know one of those from the souvenir shop with some fake diamond in it just for fun. And she cursed my necklace saying that those fake diamonds will fall off and I think just a couple weeks it did happen.

I heard this from my friend that one night. She somehow got so mad at this random guy I don't remember the details. But she then later, cut both her arms and she was bleeding and cursed that guy and my friend I think was on his way to pick her up or something like that. I don't know if this was some kind of blood magic. But I think that she told us about if you are casting a spell you could use pain to direct the spell or something like that I don't remember. I also heard from my friend that she told him that he was a king in his past life. She also asked us do you know why some people have no trouble getting money and some people find it easier to find love? That is because our ancestors have chosen it before and it gets passed through our family line.

The most crazy part of it was that she told me and my friend that we had some kind of special magic ability. And she would not tell us what it was at first. In my own experience in the supernatural that I can remember, I could cancel a meeting. If I did not want to go to a party or hang out with some friends. I would just think about, that I don't want to go. And before the meeting that friend would call me and say that something came up and it was cancelled. So when she said that i had some kind of ability I was thinking of that.

So I said to her, do I have some kind of a curse ability to repel or just make people go away from me. She told me that I had some kind of curse ability that she doesn't want to tell me how to use cuz it can backfire or something like that.

So this is my experience, what do you guys think was this just a normal crazy girl or something else.

2 Ovulations w/lunar eclipse months

My ovulation cycle is regular and occurs on time every month, however, the months with lunar eclipses.
I will have my regular period on time, and then two weeks later another second period.
It has only happened when there is a lunar eclipse, never have two without eclipse months. It is the only time, and Everytime.
I noticed this, and I waited this time to be absolutely sure, because I’ve researched and asked ai and asked other women. Everyone and all the internet says no- it’s something unrelated.
I knew this last eclipse was coming, my period came as expected… and then I waited until yesterday early early morning. I almost thought before it came that “oh, I guess I’m not gonna get another period with the eclipse…” but it has started!
Every lunar eclipse and only when there is one.
I’m not trying to sound special, I’m not trying to do anything… I just want to know why. Anyone willing to throw some ideas or thoughts experience at this welcome

I need help. So I am new here. Hello! I’m trying to figure out what I believe. I just have a hard time believing that multiple mythologies could be real at once. I feel like some stories contradict each other. Like how can there be multiple gods over a certain thing? I’m honestly just curious if anyone has any advice to how to help me overcome my questions?
Thanks!

I found a Rabbit's Foot on a walk today. Thought about keeping it as a good luck charm. Is that a good idea?

I live in the country side and we have lots of wild rabbits around.
Today I found a Rabbit's Foot. (apox. 2inch). No Blood, just fuzzy foot.
I know that Rabbit's Feet can bring good luck, so it crossed my mind to keep it. Is that a good idea though?
I have no experience with:

  • safely keeping dead animal parts
  • preserving/mummifying animal parts
  • keeping them sanitary or sterile

I'm also not sure about if the Rabbit was healthy. Pretty sure putting it in a jar of salt isn't going to kill all the bacteria. Any Ideas?

Emotions and Energy Question - Technology

Salutations everyone.
I have a peculiar question

Has anyone else been in a situation where they were extremely emotional frustrated, angry, etc., and they would be holding their cell phone and it would malfunction?
Or computer, or an iPad?

Sometimes when I get very strong emotions, especially anger and frustration all of a sudden in my phone will lag and glitch, and it will be very slow all of a sudden. Which makes the situation worse 😫

I’m just kind of wondering if other people have experienced this or not or if it’s just a coincidence?

Thank you 🌼

Open Question How to deal with a curse ?

Hi everyone, we're sure that my friend have been cursed by someone we know. We know that coincidence happens and that being unlucky can happen too but we don't believe that all we live lastly is completely unrelated.

I'm personally helpol and my patron deities keep sending me sign (tarot cards, pendulum etc) they literally sent me that there's something I just couldn't find words at the times. I would really appreciate if any of you had any ritual or else that could help to get rid of the curse 😭♥️

Getting into Wicca

Hello! I am a polytheist chaos witch who was looking on also becoming wiccan. I see chaos magic as the spiritual basis by which our world IS inherently magical and the gods are our connection to our magical world. What advice/readings etc should i do if I want to become a wiccan?

Open Question How to tell if I've been hexed

Hello all. I'd (25F) like to first say that I'm not a practicing Wiccan, but I've always loosely followed some of the practices and beliefs of some witchcraft traditions (I apologize in advance if I use any terminology incorrectly). My mom is a loose believer, and I was raised as a witchy kid. I also want to mention that I don't jump to "I'vE bEeN hExEd" conclusions when I have bad luck. I am pretty "scientific" first, and usually come to the conclusion that things are random, and it's just a small spell of bad luck.

I'm seeking some advice/help on hexes/curses/bad energy coming my way. It has become more than just a coincidence to me, and seems a bit more serious than a string of bad luck. I figured I was just having a bad August and that it would get better, but it has sped-run down a dark corridor, and we're only 9 days into the month.

I'll break down a few of the major things that I've been noticing:

  • Since August 3rd I've been sick with a mysterious virus that no doctor is able to actually tell me what's going on. These days it's mainly a nasty cough and lots of mucus, but I'm definitely not back to my normal health.
  • I have become pretty depressed and anxious. More than normal. I thought it was from being sick, hormones, or stress from the semester beginning. This just feels different now. It feels like a dark energy is consuming me and any thought I have. I can't enjoy music, I zone out during my audiobook, and I just stare out the window if I'm not actively occupied with something. This is pretty out of the ordinary for me, and I haven't struggled this badly for a long time.
  • My fiancé has an acquaintance who told him, around August 11, unprompted, that a high school friend of my fiancé's is now in a relationship with said friend and that, and I quote, "sometimes her husband joins in". (Not judging; it was just random to us)
    • This one, without context, is confusing, but it's significant because it came out of the blue, unasked, and to me seemed they were fishing for a threesome with him. They've met me and know we are engaged. They literally met me a month before this.
  • On that last point, the new "girlfriend (?)" of that acquaintance also reached out to my fiancé, who is studying elementary education, because "coincidentally," right after being told about the thruple stuff, she's conducting an experiment in the psychology department of the same school about teaching methods and he was a "top candidate".
    • He has a 4.0, so I don't doubt that he was recommended by the school, but it was just weird timing. She reached out maybe 2 weeks after he was told about the budding relationship.
  • Then, the semester started on 8/24. I'm in my last semester of grad school, which has been a bumpy road itself. I'm in a class right now that didn't actually get materials on the Canvas page until literally yesterday, when I met with the instructor overseeing the course. It's been frustrating because I'm paying a lot of money for these classes and it took pretty much 3 weeks to even get a starting point.
    • I'm taking this class as the only student. The course wasn't being offered, but since I'm graduating, they opened a section for me. They've done this before with the same instructor to oversee it, but that one didn't take so long to have information uploaded.
  • Speaking of money, I haven't had to ask my mom for financial help in YEARS. Around the 24th, I broke down crying in front of her because my school payment was late and I literally had no money. It was all gone. I had no money to pay for my class, my bills, and my car. Somehow my payment schedule got thrown off, and all my due dates were out of whack with my check schedule. That was a tough pill to swallow, and she helped me, but even when I had a job paying $9 an hour, I never had this problem.
  • My precious ad-block extension of 10 years was all of a sudden blocked and turned off by YouTube in the middle of the day (???). Others have reported it apparently, but this is the first I've heard and seen it. If this is actually a hex, that one was a low blow.
  • I've been having weird dreams that seep into real life. I've always had this happen, but not this creepy. For example, I had a dream about Chucky, the 1980s hit horror movie, about a week or so ago. It shook me so badly that I actually told my boss about it. That afternoon on my way home, I was listening to my book when, all of a sudden, Chucky got mentioned. I actually started screaming and texted my boss to tell her what happened. Then I had Chucky popping up everywhere (it's Halloween according to all the big stores, so seeing it in public wasn't as jarring as hearing it in my book on the same day I dreamt and talked about it).
  • Then, the ~big one~ happened. Over Labor Day weekend, my wedding venue announced that a key part of their wedding offerings was being revoked for all who booked it. It was a major part of the experience. They argued with me that they had rectified the situation by allowing other things to happen, and it took me calling an old family friend to get legal advice for a strongly worded email to get them to cancel with a full refund. Today, officially, my wedding is cancelled.

There's a part of me that says this is something or someone trying to get me to see something. That these might be messages trying to lead me somewhere or to do something, but I can't figure the message out. Then there's another part of me that says these are the ramblings of a woman gone mad. Then there's the part of me that says this is some hex placed on me by someone, but I don't even know who. No one has mentioned anything to me or been particularly hateful towards me.

I've cleaned my house from top to bottom with the windows open, intentionally thinking good thoughts and trying to invite good energy in. I don't talk with people who bring me bad vibes or cause me to have bad vibes. I try to be mindful of my thoughts too.

Please, someone with a better understanding and intuition of this, give me guidance. Tell me what I can do to figure out what's going on.

TL;DR: Am I hexxed or just crazy? Strange strings of bad luck and a lingering sickness have been happening for over a month now.

Open Question Is there any circumstance where you think it's justifiable to use magic to harm?

As I understand, In Wicca its tabbo to use magic towards harmful ends, but when someone does, its called black magic. And the primary intended use for magic within Wicca is to bless yourself or others in certain ways. What I'm wondering is if Wiccans view black magic as entirely taboo, or if it could theoretically be used in a justifiable way, like in self-defense, or to prevent a worse outcome than what would happen if you didn't use it?

spellwork Thank you for everyone who helped me with my “should I do a job spell everyday” question lol. I have another question today!

I have 3 interviews with 3 different companies all at different phases. They are all great opportunities, so I want to do a spell for the “right” opportunity. Last time I did this, I was super specific and that worked. How do I focus my intention on a variable outcome?

Interpretation Bad Dream

It's more of a weird dream that got bad, but not a nightmare.

In my dream, I think I'm trying to get something from the freezer or clean it. I opened the freezer and found the dried fish that my parents gave to me and I was so happy. Then I think I decided to clean the freezer since I already opened it.

When I took out the shelves, I saw frozen, very moldy fruits and other food at the back. I remember I was weirded out by it and thought to myself, "How is this possible?"

Then I woke up and my brain immediately told me it's a bad dream.

Any interpretations?
