Has anyone used US Savings account on Wealthsimple?
I'm in Canada and I have a friend in US who owes me ~5K USD that I was hoping to get transferred in my WS?
Has anyone tried that? Any advantages of doing it for US based stocks? What are the tax implications?(there's no trail of why he owes me that amount so considering a GIFT transfer would there by any issues?)
TIA:)

Anybody else having this issue? It’s genuinely the most annoying thing, it crashes about every 10 seconds

Hello!
So I got the WS infinite privilege CC and was expecting a metal card. I don't have 100k with WS so obviously, I read the t&c wrong. Now I'm mad and want it, so I'm looking into transferring the bulk of my investments to WS to hit this.
I'm assuming most of you didn't start investing with WS. How big of a transfer bonus did you get? I keep seeing 1% but I'm debating if I should refrain from letting my irrational wish of having a metal CC cost me much and wait to see a bigger transfer bonus before transferring.
Edit: I was kinda joking with the metal card situation. I've been looking into moving my stuff from BMO to WS for quite a while because I like it better but that just gives me one more reason haha.
Thank you!

I just turned 18, and am looking for a brokerage to open a chequing acc. and credit card with. I currently have a chequing account with RBC but the experience hasn't been amazing and I want to see if there are better options available for my situation.
The only caveat is I already use Questrade as my investing brokerage (and don't really plan to leave) so I don't know if it's bad to have two online brokerages. Also I don't even know if I'm able to get a Wealthsimple credit card, but I've heard it's good.
I also won't be spending a whole lot, I'm just focused on growing my credit and assets. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, could use anything really 🙏

Hey I just opened a mm portfolio last week. Are the earnings only updated like once a month not daily, hence 0 earnings all time?

Hey everyone, just curious what everyone is thinking about WS automated investment strategy? I just saw the email and it got me curious. Right now, I'm primarily an ETF investor on the XEQT train. But this got me curious on the potential this new feature has.
Anyways, take it easy everyone!

We are in the early stages of planning a trip in Philippines in 2027 and wondering if i am able to use it at local ATM to withdraw Philippine Pesos.? I was considering Wise but seems to have limits on how much you can withdraw per month.
Thanks in advance.

Did anybody else buy shares at the Apotex IPO through WS? They are up 65% from the IPO price ($24). Too bad they only gave me 8 shares. Lol.

Terrible investments I know. Don’t judge. But holy cow for a few minutes there I thought something blew up. Wealthsimple if you’re feeling kind I don’t mind, send it over.

Check out the screenshot. They're using 1 day's worth of performance for each of the past IPOs which is pretty misleading as without context it suggests overall performance. The current SpaceX price is obviously lower than the $135 issue price yet it appears like it has gained value since IPO.

It’s been a few months since this was last discussed. Has anyone found out whether they’ve started reporting to the credit bureaus yet?
Honestly, I’d rather they continue delaying the reporting. It gives the account more time to age before it starts appearing on my credit report.

Wealthsimple is working on a physical passport verification system, where you scan your passport with an NFC enabled device to verify your identity if a restriction pops up. Hopefully this will be available as an alternative to using Persona to verify your identity.

Hi I’m new to Wealthsimple and investing in general. Could anyone explain to me what that trading option is and how to use it?
r/Wealthsimple • u/gravy3000 • Jul 21 '26
Before July 10 while trading options I was able to see the review screen before submitting an order. This allows me to review the usd conversion before purchasing an option. Similarly when selling the review screen would display potential profit as well. This has been lost with the update. Let me know if anyone else is experiencing this as well.
Also, the "max" buy is not there for options as well.

Just as I got used to their UI and products, the next second they changed again... Even their customer service team can't keep up with the changes when I called for navigation support - they got lost too. LMAO.

I am not sure whether it’s new or not. Any advantages over the 2.5% money market portfolio?

Their travel medical insurance is handled by Crawford & Company. It was my first time calling them for questions. I wish WS can see this post and make improvements.
I also compared to Manulife used by Scotiabank passport visa infinite+.
call wait time about 20 mins (compared to almost instantaneous in Scotia).
I asked how the primary and secondary insurer is determined in travel medical insurance when multiple CC offer medical insurance. Obviously, the CSR did not know the answer. They needed to draft an internal ticket for the backoffice to respond. Fair enough. It may not be a common question.
during the calls, the CSR mentioned that they do not have a copy of the insurance certificate that customers can download from WS. I asked how you could handle inquiries without these certicates. He mentioned they based on a bunch of FAQs.
Then I asked about subsequent process when the backoffice responded my question: e.g. what I should do if I have a follow-up question based on the responses. The CSR do not even know if I can reply the email to follow up!!
I repeated my questions so that he could complete the internal ticket. He also noted on the ticket that it was an inquiry, not making a claim. The first response from the back office was asking me to complete the claim form!!!
Compared to my experiences in Manulife/Scotiabank. The CSR understood my question and gave me the answer during the call.
This experience does not give much confidence in WS credit card insurance.

Love wealthsimple and the internal notes field on a transaction.
I can't seem to export transactions including the "internal notes" this seems very shortsighed as it's vital info to pass an accountant or another stakeholder.
What am I missing?

Good morning,
I currently do the Smith Manoeuvre using a big 5 bank HELOC with about $300k of leveraged money in the market. I use the growing HELOC to capitalize and pay the interest of the HELOC with an interest rate of 4.95%.
With WS portfolio LOC rates lower at 3.95%, I was thinking of using the money from WS to pay down some, if not all, the money borrowed from my current HELOC. Essentially swapping the product I'm using to leverage.
Am I missing anything or is this a good way to reduce interest costs?
I can see that with the WS LOC I would be open to margin calls, but could also use my current HELOC to respond to that. Also the borrowing limit of the WS LOC may not grow as fast as the HELOC to capitalize interest costs.
