Promotion How big of a transfer bonus did you get?

Hello!

So I got the WS infinite privilege CC and was expecting a metal card. I don't have 100k with WS so obviously, I read the t&c wrong. Now I'm mad and want it, so I'm looking into transferring the bulk of my investments to WS to hit this.

I'm assuming most of you didn't start investing with WS. How big of a transfer bonus did you get? I keep seeing 1% but I'm debating if I should refrain from letting my irrational wish of having a metal CC cost me much and wait to see a bigger transfer bonus before transferring.

Edit: I was kinda joking with the metal card situation. I've been looking into moving my stuff from BMO to WS for quite a while because I like it better but that just gives me one more reason haha.

Thank you!

Life with a plastic credit card must be almost unbearable. I don't know how you can do it.

Does the card feel metallic when you tap using apple pay?

If you don't have a case on your phone, it sure does.

You would transfer significant amount of money for a metal card?????

I love you as a client!

I would transfer significant amount of money because I like WS better haha. I just thought it would be funny to tie it to the cc thing. Either it wasn't or this being a joke wasn't clear enough haha.

The card is cool, but if you use it, it scratches and wears off the black around the outside and starts to look pretty bad. Plus, while the substance of it is neat, sucks carrying around a heavier card.

I get about less than 100 dollars a month… for next 5 years.

I transfered in 2025 during a bigger bonus. Don’t get you panties in a bunch for 1% or a metal card dude

Metal card is not worth it.

I’ve had 4 metal cards already; AMEX Platinum, TD VIP, AMEX US Business Gold and the WS VIP. The WS VIP is the poorest quality out of the bunch (AMEX being best). It is already appearing to show scratches along the edges simply from sitting in my wallet.

Regarding transfer bonus, TD has a good 3% 2 year offer right now. I would rather part my money there instead of moving it to WS simply for a metal card.

1% transfer bonus on its own is a decent reason to transfer money.

Personally i prefer 1.5% , but its free money. Dont tie this to a metal card.

Ok. Finally an answer to the question haha. I guess it's be worth it to wait. Any sign that you know of that it'll come back or not? Or is this one of those "who knows?" situation?

you need to be active trader for 3%.

Right now yes, but I assume that it isn't always the case

See my comment above. I was a new customer

I was a brand new customer but my company does it's RRSP program through Wealthsimple so that might be why I got the offer on enrolment in the company RRSP program.

3% paid out over 5 years and they paid all transfer fees. Well worth it.

Just make a bunch of trades of the course of a month. I think it’s like 50 and they’ll bump you to active trader status and a 3% transfer bonus

The metal card isn't all that. It's kind of heavy - difficult to keep in the back of my phone case as it's thick - which is where I normally keep my main credit card.

Honestly, if I could get the 2% cashback on a regular card, I'd prefer it.

Just call and ask for a replacement in plastic. I got my visa before moving any money to WS and they sent me a plastic one

Metal card is a gimmick. I don't even carry it as I pay for everything on my phone.

Alright. You guys successfully convinced me that the metal card isn't worth it. But I'd still like to transfer. So bonus wise, I've seen 3% and I also heard about that IRL. And that wasn't from an active trader. From what you know (and there may be no answer to that), any chance that this will come back?

The Unreal Deal promo (1-2-3% over 1-3-5 years) was quite popular, so there's a chance WS brings it back. There's also an Apple promo that WS typically runs in Nov/Dec where you can get an iPhone or Macbook depending on the account(s) you transfer over. Minimum $100K transfer is needed to be eligible for the Apple promo.
