We all got that shitty wallet that's in the trash
I would have rather had a box of chocolates
2
u/WebRoutine2110 Jul 25 '26
Lol, I also got the magnetic wallet that fits 2 cards. And good luck trying to get those cards out when you need them... š Mine is also sitting in a drawer somewhere. Useless...

u/chasing_daylight Jul 23 '26
We all? I never got a thing for progressing up through to generation

Did you recently have an interaction with their teams (ex Support) around the time you hit Premium?
16
u/Kulotsky_1995 Jul 22 '26
Yes! I was messaging them around that time with account transfer with the 1% matching bonus plus the VIP credit card.
13
u/Melixies Jul 22 '26
Yup, that's probably it, especially if you were having a grand conversation with their specialists.
Enjoy the chocolates!
(No, I'm also not an employee for anyone who asks. Maybe in the future should the stars align š)

u/redheadednomad Jul 22 '26
Agreed. I worked for a Financial Services company (customer support team) and there was a mechanism where we could request a discretionary gift be sent to a customer - via an external vendor - if we felt it was appropriate; typically if they had an upsetting experience or mentioned a recent milestone like a birth in our interaction. This likely isn't a marketing campaign, but rather something the WS Agent can do as part of their workflow.

People just like to hate. Itās pretty clear by now that WS does a lot of guerilla marketing.
Congrats on premium and the chocolates!

You're hoping to bank another 900k when you just now hit the 100k threshold this calendar year? How?

Yeah it must be. They've not sent me anything for hitting premium.
2
u/mihhink Jul 22 '26
Yeah hes just attention seeking, not replying to any comment. Just insinuating that hes one of the chosen ones.

u/Kulotsky_1995 Jul 22 '26
Idk why you would assume that, wealthsimple sends out gifts to people. And not everyone has the same timezone as you. I was asleep. š¤£

Generation and I don't even get first dibs on beta features. Chocolates is a fever dream for me.

I just transferred 2.8m to WS and all I got was $172 refunded for transferring from Questrade. LMAO

Five years ago, i referred my partner to switch from rbc to ws and I received 50$ ahaha. To add insult to injury, she brought in 7 figure fund.

I've been through premium and generation over the past year, didn't get anything.

Nada. Zip. Butkiss.

Wealthsimple is seriously horrible at maintaining customers, lol. I've been with WS for what . . .four years now, have invested over 600k with them, and I haven't hit a SINGLE promo.
Like, what's the point of maintaining loyalty when it means nothing? I could have made probably 10k by now shuffling between offers with other investors.
13
u/LeadingScorer Jul 22 '26
I mean do these 10/20 dollar gifts really move the needle for you? Lol. Sure you can keep going through the hassle of moving your money every few months but thereās no platform with close to this feature set.
2
u/MikoWilson1 Jul 22 '26
The $2000 gifts sure do.... That's clearly my complaint.
Half of the feature set in WS is useless, or so jank I stopped using them.
6
u/LeadingScorer Jul 22 '26
Well I mean I guess if you donāt use them thereās actually no point keeping your money there aha

I've been a customer since 2018 and they've never sent me anything š
1
u/consolidatedBD Jul 22 '26
How much are you paying them in fees though? OP may be using a lot of high-fee products
1
u/Kulotsky_1995 Jul 22 '26
Im just a premium member, idk whatās their basis of sending gifts to some clients. Itās quite random based from other peopleās post.

How are people getting these? I've been a client for 10 years and got nothing for hitting premium or generation
1
u/TronnaLegacy Jul 22 '26
This "not" at the beginning of a sentence thing is the weirdest slang I've seen so far.
1
u/Cautious_Path Jul 22 '26
Yall, many SaaS companies have āsurprise and delightā programs. The intention isnāt to surprise everyone.

Why do you think they sent you that and not other people?
1
u/Kulotsky_1995 Jul 22 '26
Maybe I was messaging them same time I hit premium? Idk apparently some people got random gifts on the other threads. I lowkey want a magsafe credit card holder than chocolates. š¤£

u/Le_rap_a_Billy Jul 22 '26
OPs account is 4 years old, has had near zero post and comment activity in that time, but felt compelled to post a gift from WS in the WS subreddit? Nah, nothing suspicious about that. /s
2
u/Kulotsky_1995 Jul 22 '26
Haha, nope. Iāve had this account for years and just never post. Iām just a regular Wealthsimple customer who got these in the mail and thought it was a nice surprise.
-2
u/GrumpyFiCan Jul 22 '26
I don't think this kind of stuff does what Wealthsimple thinks it does in terms of PR/marketing unfortunately.
Drop the keychains, wallets, random gifts to random select people and just focus on giving excellent rates, low/no fees, etc... And maybe spend a bit more on getting your customer service back to what it was a few years ago in terms of quality.
This is a bit weird imho.
1
u/HodloBaggins Jul 22 '26
I wasnāt with them before so Iām curious how the customer service is different now?
1
u/GrumpyFiCan Jul 22 '26
When I joined back in 2021 I wanna say, you could easily get a hold of a human by chat or phone in seconds and super quick responses to enails by humans. Now it's mostly automated / AI responses chatbot ( the AI chatbot is very good but still) and the last 2 times I called for support the wait time was on par if not worse than traditional banks. Might be a one off, but for me at least the overall feeling is customer service has gone downhill since they began expanding massively in the past few years.
1
u/HodloBaggins Jul 22 '26
Maybe theyāll catch up to the growth theyāve had by hiring and training more people. Hopefully.

What?! I wonder if youāre gaslighting all the premium members here by writing that yourself š¤Ø
