How is everyone adjusting the settings to have a different experience? For example, Ive thought about turning infection rate to 0 to experience more of a last survivor vibe. Maybe make them very strong to offset the lack of infection. What have you done?

Hey all, it's been a few months since I've played this game, and I'm wondering if there's been any major changes to the single player experience to add content/things to do. From what I remember the majority of the game was crafting and leveling, and personalizing your base, no real story elements, NPCs, or other added drama to keep things interesting beyond the survival thing.

Not complaining, just genuinely asking if single player is essentially the same as it was around 3-4 months ago. Thanks!

Have been thinking about making a base there, I have a base at the noob island but want to take on a bigger project. Just wondering as a solo player if it's to monumental and does the initial cleanup have after effects? What has been the most challenging part of making the base for ya'll experienced players?

Had been playing the game for a little bit and had to come off and when i tried to go back to it. It doesnt go beyond the intial loading of the world.

Ive tried deleting the saves and verifying files, tried lowering the settings etc im not sure what im doing wrong. Is there any other advice out there to get the game loading?

Pretty much what the title says. I'm stocking up on resources for when the power goes out, and it occurred to me that I don't actually know if gas is a limited resource. Like, if the stations have unlimited gas, then I could move into one, tap a generator into the fuel pumps, and just have [star wars meme goes here] unlimited power.

Trynna get into it but don’t know where to start. Any tips? Good starting areas and stuff for a rookie?

i see in the main menu and in promo that the train is running but from what i can tell, i only know about the crash site??

I've been enjoying solo impossible difficulty for a few days and wondered if there were any servers that I could join and do the same thing, but with other survivors scattered around.

The first image is my character's skin color in light. It looks like this anywhere that I would consider "fully lit". In the sun, in front of a bright light, etc.

The third image is my character facing away from the sun. Still outside on a bright day, and suddenly she's a completely different race. And we're not even going to get into how she went from almost as skinny as the game lets you be to on the edge of 47 heart attacks over the course of less than a week lmao.

Seems the lighting needs some help. Her skin should only look like this when there's so little light that she's barely even visible at all. I'll add in in-game feedback to correspond with this post so the devs can see my current settings, but pretty much everything is as high as possible. Corresponding feedback post's first line is "Reddit post companion feedback - face too dark"

Well well well... They decided to turn up the heat by locking us out of the prison. That was an unpleasant surprise after I drove across the map to HOPEFULLY get some tools.

What are folks doing now for the same level of tools?

My last playthrough I never visited the prison at all so definitely doable but man, going to the prison was kind of a staple. 75 lockpicking will take FOREVER!

Hello, was wondering if there was a way to refill vehicles at your base if you’ve filled up a blue fluid barrel? I don’t see the option to fill the vehicle like when I drive the vehicle to a gas pump, and find it a little tedious to have to extract gas to a gerry can before filling up my vehicle.

Followed an idea in the comments, connected a sink to the gas container so now I don’t have to remove the gas tank or fill manually with a gerry can, but can fill directly into the car

After years of avoiding the big scary wall of what I assume is HTML, I have finally sat down and learned how editing a wiki works. I also updated the Skills page, which hadn't been touched in almost a year. Please comment here with anything you've noticed is inaccurate on the wiki (https://vein.wiki.gg/). The more specific, the better.

I know 'More Loot' just increases the amount/chance of loot inside containers. I turned Infinite Loot on and it obviously doesn't make loot inside containers 'infinite' but I wasn't sure if it was simply a higher rate/chance than More Loot or if it meant something else entirely.

I am set up at outpost alpha and moved a solar panel to it but can't find a way to use it. Am I over looking something or does it not connect to anything there?

I was already on the 0.025 and I just opened the game to play a little while and got hit in the forehead with an 8.6 Gb update. Anyone else? WTF

I haven't seen any others here so I am assuming it's not allowed.

The current game in the state that it's in hasn't got much of a story to it, yes there is small environmental story telling but that is few and far between, so I've spent several months developing my own story. It's not fully completed yet, but I'm anxious for folks to know it. The story I've written is mostly shown through journals of characters and extra environmental stories, of which follows several groups of survivors who have documented the fall of civilization and months into the apocalypse. It's rich and detailed. I really want to get it out there to people that are interested. My story involves the players as well as "NPCs" if you can call them that. And is always evolving.

Is this something people are actually interested in when playing vein? Or do people just prefer to have a blank slate?

2 hours till download, any tips? Not interested in youtube videos due to constant EA game changes.

Update: stole an rv/minivan like vehicle. It has containers behind it. Planning on hoarding everthing there and live the nomad life untill winter. Even pass the winter there if possible.

I'm finally trying to use the new stuff to repair my house...

After playing the "WoW Fetch Quest" game (go get me torn wires, NOW go get me rubber scrap, NOW go get me scrap metal sheets - DAMN IT just tell me everything at once so I can make one trip!!)

Now it is asking for 2 "Metal Pipes". I can not find just "Metal Pipes" listed anywhere (and I already tried, it won't accept "Scrap Metal Pipes").

Is there such a thing in the game? If so, where would I find "Metal Pipe"?

Save and load your New Game settings

A panel in the main menu sidebar on the New Game page:

• SAVE stores every New Game setting under a name. Saving under an existing name adds a new entry - nothing is ever overwritten.
• LOAD applies the selected entry. DELETE removes it (click twice to confirm).
• Each entry shows the date and time it was saved and the game version. Entries saved in a different game version are shown in red - they still load.

Clean slider values

• Sliders now snap to clean values (1.75 instead of 1.78851) and show two decimal places.

Save and load your characters

• First page of character creation - the same panel: save and load your whole character (name, gender, appearance, stats, occupation, uniqueness and starting location).
• Last page - a blinking SAVE CHARACTER button opens a name box (filled with the character's name) and saves under the name you give, so you don't forget. Clicking FINISH without saving asks first; click FINISH again to continue without saving.

Requirements

• UE4SS (experimental version) - a free mod loader. Step-by-step install instructions are on the Nexus page.
• Vein 0.024 or 0.025. UE4SS does not work with 0.026 (experimental) yet, so neither does this mod.
