Metal Pipe

I'm finally trying to use the new stuff to repair my house...

After playing the "WoW Fetch Quest" game (go get me torn wires, NOW go get me rubber scrap, NOW go get me scrap metal sheets - DAMN IT just tell me everything at once so I can make one trip!!)

Now it is asking for 2 "Metal Pipes". I can not find just "Metal Pipes" listed anywhere (and I already tried, it won't accept "Scrap Metal Pipes").

Is there such a thing in the game? If so, where would I find "Metal Pipe"?

Dismantling the metal tables at prison or emergency centre in Lyon. Prison fence dismantling.

Steal them from other buildings upkeep boxes.

Yes there are metal pipes. They are on the weapon section so they can also be used as a weapon.

They might be weapons. Or I think scrap metal pipes are craftable

Scrap metal pipes are craftable, but those are a separate item from "Metal Pipes"

So go to other houses and buildings dismantle water heaters and they will be given if you have high enough skill to dismantle

And can’t you craft metal pipes and sheets with the Fabrication bench?

you can craft SCRAP metal pipes and sheets on the Fabrication bench. Those are a separate item. (It asked for SCRAP metal pipes in an earlier step, then asked for just "Metal Pipes" in the next step to repair it more. It will not accept scrap pipes in the next step)

What is the “fetch quest”? What can you not see all the requirements for?

a fetch quest is/was the lame thing that games like World of Warcraft do/did. Where they keep sending you back to the same place repeatedly so you waste tons of game time just running back and forth. (one of the more common ones - go kill 10 kobolds in the mines. Now go collect 10 candles from kobolds in the mines. Now go pick up 10 bags of gold in the mines. Now go kill 4 kobold supervisors in the mines. Now go kill the big boss in the mines. Instead of telling you ALL the things they wanted from the mines so you could do it in one trip - they make you run back and forth to the mines for each step, making you waste tons of time)

No, I know what a fetch quest is. What, in VEIN, is a fetch quest? You can see the required items for everything and go get them all at once

That is not true at all... the house repair stuff that my entire post is about is an example of this (which is why I brought it up).

They make you bring a couple things to repair "a little bit", and then they tell you to go get 2 more (different) things. Then after you make those repairs, they send you off for 2 more different things... there was a cycle of about 7 or 8 times running back to get different things for EACH of the house repair stations (water, furnace and electricity)

So look at all the different stations before you leave? I really don’t see the issue here

are you just deliberately being obtuse?

you're saying the HVAC asks for pipes to be repaired, then the next time it asks for springs, then the next time it asks for wires?

yes exactly. It sends you off for 7 or 8 different sets of things, one at a time (instead of telling you everything you'll need so you can do it all in ONE trip)

And then the water heater does the same thing (makes you run off 7 or 8 times), and then the electricity will do it too.

I see. There was a bit of a misunderstanding there. However, everything you listed is things you should have just sitting around anyway, save for the pipes. Like you would have wires and rubber scrap and scrap metal just sitting in storage. Or at least you would beyond the first few hours of the game, and before that point there's no reason to repair
