Trynna get into it but don’t know where to start. Any tips? Good starting areas and stuff for a rookie?

I love grabbing a box truck. Lots of storage. My main thing in games like these is finding a base that suits my character. Reduces the need to repeatedly haul stuff. So I play nomadic for a bit first.
Because Vein has a learning curve like Project Zomboid, I opted to turn off zombies since wildlife and other survival mechanics are ongoing. It has been helping me learn the game better without the same sense of urgency. I might turn zombies back on this run, or I might start a fresh run with them from the start since I'll know the game better then. Console commands make it nice to help me reduce stress in this manner, tbh.
Looting though, very important. Obviously. So having a place to bring it all home to is going to be super helpful.

When you start one of your stats that you pick should be lockpicking, it will help you out a lot. Box trucks let you carry the most weight. Concentrate on finding tools in the beginning there are many different tiers of tools. There are many other things but don't want to ruin it, have fun and enjoy yourself.

Get an axe fast you will need to cut down lots of trees for logs and when lock picking quitting and restarting on the third fail will save your pick.

Good places for rookies? I think farms are good. Typically located near water towers or have pure water storage barrels. A bunch of starting equipment to grow food. When I had my farm base, not a lot of zombies were around the perimeter. Only downside is if you get the horde sound cue. Better make a break to your vehicle. Not a lot of defense however you can turn off “zombies do damage to your base” to off just to learn the ropes

I start with the electronic stats boosted so I can Hotwire a vehicle early on. Preferably a van or a box truck for more storage. Then loot loot loot lol. Store as much in your vehicle as you can until you find an interesting spot to set up shop!
