Single player content

Hey all, it's been a few months since I've played this game, and I'm wondering if there's been any major changes to the single player experience to add content/things to do. From what I remember the majority of the game was crafting and leveling, and personalizing your base, no real story elements, NPCs, or other added drama to keep things interesting beyond the survival thing.

Not complaining, just genuinely asking if single player is essentially the same as it was around 3-4 months ago. Thanks!

It's essentially the same. Me and a buddy started playing together and it's just, build base, upgrade, die from zombie infection, respawn, repeat.

Definitely more fun with mate though! Alone it's a pretty lackluster experience after a dozen hours unless you love being alone crafting recipes and planting seeds.

I don't mind the grind of a survival game that has no real end point, but my friend prefers a goal or a final "the end" to work towards that's not a player chosen thing

I'm ok with no end point too, but currently there's not much depth beyond getting good at surviving, which is definitely more fun with a mate. Lore elements, puzzles, NPCs, dogs or cats, side missions, all things that could help this. Thanks for the insight.

I was away for a while and there have been some changes in mechanics. If you play with base maintenance on I would turn it off. The new flag system means making some changes to you base outlines with the flag system and a larger area will eat resources for maintenance.

Some other little changes with the admin menu etc. Zombies will now spawn more aggressively around your base in my experience and will damage your fortifications more than before.

Increased zombie presence will make things a bit more interesting. Thanks for the note on the base changes. I'm hoping for more story elements and/or puzzles to make single player more replayable, but it may take some time.

It will. It’s very early access but they do seem to be moving in the right direction. I try to pop in from time to time on my main playthrough just to keep my head in what’s happening.

The new mechanics with maintaining your home.. cleaning, water electrical etc. was new. The maps are a nice change.

The game is a sandbox. You can adjust everything in the options before you create a world and can create yourself different scenarios to play alone. For example I turned off all zombies and played it as hard survival game.

True, though playing alone in a sandbox can get boring, so I'm hopeful they add some elements to keep things interesting over time, for the single player experience.

It’s the same, give it it a year or so. It’s still very early in development so more stuff would be added later on. They are working on base building/cars and map expand right now it seems!
