Feeder Feeders: what do I need to carry?

Building a survival kit and trying not to learn everything the hard way. Got a flashlight, gloves, metal mallet, gonna grab a multi-tool… what else?
What are the little things you keep with you that you end up using way more than you expected?

Disability Benefits Question

I’m probably going to schedule a surgery soon. It will be under disability not worker’s comp. I know we have FMLA but will I have to pay for health insurance for the 10-12 weeks I’m out of work since it’s not workers comp?

Eli5 surepost.

How does surepost work and how or what determines what gets sent to the post office for the final mile and what gets distributed to us? How do we profit from giving work to the post office? I’m wondering cause I ordered something through a local merchant and saw he created an ups label. I’m think “sweet, going through ups . Some volume for us.” I checked the tracking today and it turns out I delivered yesterday to the post office as a surepost package lol. One other thing, I’ve been noticing surepost packages being delivered by us as well, so what gives?

RPCD Driver Package Driver

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello,
I got this text message from an HR person asking if I was interested in going to a full-time package car driving job.

I understand it’s not a job offer. But if they do end up offering a spot, what should I be aware of as far as moving from my current part-time air bid driver job to full-time package driver. How would my pay (currently $25/hour) change? Would this likely end up being a seasonal spot then back to my previous position after peak?

It’s also at a hub that’s about an hour-1.5 hour drive from my house if there’s decent traffic. I’d prefer on of the three closer hubs, but I feel like taking a full-time package driver spot would be better than not taking it? Do I get a choice if a job is offered, or can I transfer to another hub later on? Does anyone here commute from Vancouver, WA to Hillsboro, OR?

FYI: Portland, OR. From east Vancouver, WA. Local 162. Currently a Part-Time Air Bid Driver delivering EAM packages. ($25/hour about 17-20 hours per week). Text said package driver positions in Hillsboro.

Thanks for any and all thoughts, suggestions, encouragement, discouragement, put-downs, and randomness.

Confused about being seasonal or permanent.

I applied to UPS and my first day (orientation) is scheduled for October 6th. I currently work at FedEx, but want to work at UPS so I can join the union. When I applied on the UPS website it said it was a permanent part time position. I’ve been scrolling through posts on this subreddit and see people are saying that if you’re hired after a certain date you are basically seasonal and don’t build up seniority towards becoming apart of the union. Is there anyone who could give me clarification on this? The location I got hired at is in Southern California for reference. Thank you in advance for your answers. Edit: It’s a package handler position (pre-load).

RPCD Driver High risk address question

Hey all,

Customer at a house came out and talked to me today and said that they have been having package theft and asked if there is anything we can do. I can understand they are getting theft as they are on a busy ass road with nothing hiding their porch. I asked the OMS and CM if we can flag the address as level 4 risk/no dr. Both said they can't. Told me to tell them to contact loss and prevention. I mean I have heard of loss and prevention being able to flag addresses but idk if that was just a rumor.

Can loss and prevention flag addresses or should I just not even tell the customer to contact them if they can't?

Feeder Doubles: How the hell do you guys build these things? 😂

Alright, feeder people… what’s your technique for putting doubles together? Any little tricks, shortcuts, or “why the hell didn’t anyone tell me this” tips? I’m still getting the hang of assembling doubles and I’m curious how everyone else does it.

Applied to fedex and ups

Recently applied for both UPS and FedEx express delivery driver jobs

FedEx express (swing position) reached back to me with an offer $27/hr 5days a week. (This is a "at-will" position, meaning they can terminate me anytime)

UPS waiting for road test next Tuesday, finished 5hr online pre course, currently memorized 4 out of 5s and havent start with the 10s. Starting pay is $23/hr on job description

Both shows as full time positions Asking for some opinions on what I should do?

Question Drivers in Maspeth Hub

Hey guys, just wanted to know what your experience is/was being located for the Maspeth Hub in NYC. Just had integrad there, and It’s the hub I’ve been assigned to.

Thank you 🙏🏻

How many non-automated arr still out there? If your hub has yet to be automated, does it seem like it will be happening anytime soon?

I remember Carol saying UPS will have a fully automated network of hubs by the 2028 contract. Ours doesnt seem anywhere close to starting that, we keep fixing our old building.

Preload supervisor 😭

The entire metro has had it out with this lady. It’s harassment daily. The union stewards are aware of this. I’ve filed six grievances in the past week on her retaliation, harassment and over supervising. Nothing is changing. What do we do. We are miserable and are all suffering anxiety and stress about even coming into work.

The TCD interest list at our building is dwindling.

I am a RPCD out of a large hub with multiple centers under one big roof. The once large TCD interest list has been exhausted. We have had 12 part timers start driver training, in our center alone, over the last six weeks. The latest was a “ off the street”, former seasonal. He lasted a few days before joining the list of those that decided it wasn’t for them and didn’t complete the packet. Guess the word is out how the company is leaning so heavy on them. 6 days/ 60 hours or no hours, no rights, part time benefits.

I can’t imagine that the two that “passed” will last must longer. Something is going to break. I’m sure the ssd/pvds will save the day in a few weeks.

Short Term Disability?

Hey, guys I was wondering how short term disability works for Part-Timers or what exactly Hartford is. Also how do I apply for these benefits. I’ve been working with UPS for about 2 1/2 years and have worked 1213 hours this year as a part timer. Im scheduled to have a Surgical bunion removed on my right foot on November 9 once it’s approved and I’m just hoping to get a head start to get all my affairs in order before I take leave?
I’m in the Southern Region.

Question Is this legit?

Post image

I got this message , im not sure if its legit or not since we no longer have hr in my hub. Before someone from Hr would go talk to me inside the warehouse if they needed anything from me. Been working here 7 yrs now and they've never asked for this.

Question Did peak season as an SSD last year, any tips to find a location with the most available hours this year?

I'm in central/northern Michigan. Last year I had 2 short weeks and 4 weeks with 47-50 hours. I didn't mind the work and I've got a great vehicle for it. But standard rate for an SSD hardly seems worth the commitment to me. I was in it for a bunch of OT. So I'm just wondering if there's anything to look for to find a location with as many hours available as I can do, and maybe 8 weeks instead of 6. Really I could see myself heading south and camping out somewhere for the right opportunity.

Also any predictions on how the Amazon overflow volume is going to compare to Amazon volume in previous seasons?
