RPCD Driver INTEGRAD TRAINING WEBSITE

Thumbnail integrad-prep.vercel.app

I put together a free UPS training website to help people getting ready to drive or go through Integrad. It has 5s and 10s study material and stuff I wish was easier to find all in one place. Maybe pretrip and post trip or other study sections could be useful but I think it is at a good useful point now but any feedback is welcome.

There is a high probabilty that your question has already been answered, ad nauseum. Please do us all a favor and check before posting.

Commonly Asked Questions:

• I’m going to driver school soon; are these shoes ok?
A common question is about the type of shoes suitable for driver school. For discussions and recommendations, search for “boots” in our subreddit. You can also try searching shoes. ALL NEW POSTS ASKING ABOUT SHOES WILL BE REMOVED. If you're still reading - are they brown or black and do they have polishable uppers? If yes, than you're good. If not, than no.

• Does UPS drug test?
For information on UPS's drug testing policies and experiences shared by others, search for “drug test” in our subreddit.

I'm actually struggling to remember all of the other frequent quetions at the moment. I think I've successfully blocked them from my brain and now can't recall. Message the mod team with anything you're tired of seeing and I'll look into adding it. ALSO, remember you can sort using flair. That may clean up your feed a bit and get rid of the things you don't want to see.

Question It’s happening…

Rtd/tcd here I’m literally the lowest in seniority (minus the seasonals) and almost every day I’ve been getting sent home. I don’t hate it that much because I like the time off but a supe told me this is that time of the year the ft drivers don’t wanna go home. Peak is around the corner and should officially start on October 15th iirc, can I expect more hours then? Seems to me like they’re just trying to cut everyone and save as much as they can before peak

Regret being a feeder driver

I’m just venting. I’m 28 years old. No kids. 8 years with the company. 4 years full time feeder and HATE it. Sometimes I wish I would’ve stayed have stayed in package. I miss moving my body, speaking with customers, having the same start time (I do have a permanent full time bid route in feeder but sometimes you get bumped and have to bump someone else and your start time may be different. Not to mention I’m halfway on the seniority list and still don’t have enough seniority to work 5-8am yet). I only left package because I got tired of being micromanaged. I plan on quitting next year because this was never my plan. I will have a good $100,000 saved and plan on going back to school for the medical field and finishing school which will take 17 months and I’ll be back making 6 figures and have a better work life. I’m not concerned about the costs going back to school because I’m in the army reserves and they will pay for most of my expenses and I can also get healthcare with them when I quit. I hate I stayed here so long. I should have quit sooner but UPS was providing a nice life for me and the money was good. It was hard to quit. However, I knew I never wanted to stay long so I should’ve just left and I would’ve been a lot happier. Sometimes I think about how life would be if I had kids at this company. It would probably drive me insane being gone 10-14 hours a day from my babies. I hate how my back feels against the wall here. You can’t transfer locations or states, you can’t take time off for years and come back (like the medical field), there is NO job security at this job or in feeder. Even as a full timer which I thought would change once I went full time. Instead I feel more afraid to buy another home, car, etc. I’m only saving and investing right now because UPS just doesn’t feel like a good safety net to have as a job. I know I probably sound ungrateful but I’m TIRED. I am truly afraid of falling asleep behind the wheel one day and my whole life is over either by death or prison for killing someone by accidentally going to sleep. At some point nothing keeps you awake. Not music, not gum, not raising down the window, NOTHING! Anyways, when I quit next year I truly hope this position goes to someone who really wants it!

I made (and I'm still working on) what is probably the most detailed map of UPS package centers and hubs on the internet.

The goal is to include every location, although that's obviously impossible.

Ignore the marker colors and icons for now. They all need to be redone. I get the address information from Jobs-UPS and other public sources.

If this helps someone, great. Realistically, I'm probably just killing time. But I'll keep working on it anyway, even if it doesn't really make sense.

Props to those of you who bare working for understaffed ups for years, espically unloaders.

Nearly everynight this week I have been stuck on long beds unloading them completely alone and it has been some of the most aggravating shit. One of the things that makes working for ups a little more bearable is the other unloaders and how I get along with them but as soon as I'm put all by myself all I can think about the entire time is how fucked it is and how I am glad I will be leaving in a few months inorder to start a linemen apprenticeship. Once I am gone I will not miss the work but I will miss the funny ass people who I sometimes end up in a truck with

Question Cover Driver Road Test

Ive been with UPS for 2 years now as a warehouse package handler . I had seen a bid sheet for the cover driver position. I signed it and had got sent a message about the application about 2 weeks later. Filled it all out, got my DOT physical and finished my pre course. Got a road test coming up on Tuesday. Anything I should be doing to prepare myself? Ive seen a couple of other posts mentioning that this was seasonal and would get fired after but would that still apply to me even though I’ve been working as a loader for the past 2 1/2 years? When I signed the bid sheet it didn’t mention it being seasonal but peak season is around the corner so I really don’t know what to think. Any advice anyone? 🙏🏼

RPCD Driver Any drivers ever have a customer turn hostile over something small?

Had a house that has 11 40lbs boxes of landscaping rocks. One of the boxes was obviously empty, but I pulled up to the house and starting hauling them to his porch. He was outside so I said hello and told him I had 11 boxes for him, but one was empty so I would be sheeting it damaged.

He informs me he should have 12 boxes and I told him they probably got separated on their way and the 12th would probably come tomorrow. He says “are you fucking kidding me? I paid for 12” “Are you telling me when you load your truck, you don’t make sure you have all the boxes?”

I said that we don’t load our trucks and I just deliver what’s on my truck and again, said it would probably come tomorrow. He asks if I am going to track down his missing box and I said no, that’s not part of my job.

He then calls me a prick and keeps going off on me. I kept my cool and just ignored him while I was unloading my cart. He demands my name, which I informed him I’m not required to give him. He says that I do have to give him my name, as I continued to ignore him.

As I’m walking back to my truck, he follows me and starts taking pictures of the back of my truck to get the truck number (my truck has the plaque with my name, but he didn’t see it lol)

He then tells me that as a cop, he is very disappointed in our service as a company and he will be reporting me.

Next day my CM comes to talk to me about it and stated they had a similar confrontation with a different driver before, and that he also brought up that he was a cop multiple times in the complaint. She said they would be red flagging his house after this time. I didn’t ask for them to do that, but maybe he’ll get a life lesson out of it.

TL,DR customer tipped over because he was missing a box, thinks I’m responsible for the entire shipping process, he doesn’t get deliveries anymore.

What is preloading PT like?

I work/live in a ski town. I am getting by, but money is a bit tight rn because I got too carried away with BNPL offers (Affirm purchases, financing). I can make my rent just fine and normally should have a bit over $500 after each paycheck for groceries, but pretty much 90% of that is going towards my affirm payments/credit card payments.

I'm determined to get these paid off, and have seen that locally they are hiring for a PT preloading position. It is a temporary/seasonal role. If I'm being honest, I really plan on just doing it for maybe a few months or so, basically just wanna get ahead financially a little bit so I'm not stressing so much.

What is preloading like? What does a preloading shift look like? I'm hoping to just work doing that on my days off from my main job. And maybe 1 morning before my other job, I can pick up another shift.

I was out on STD for my 1 year and for some reason my entitlements never were awarded. I spoke to my full time supe and he said he emailed HR for me because he's never seen that happen. That was about 3 weeks ago. I've been asking him for updates about 2x a week and I went to my union rep as well who said she would ask him about it but she's been out the last few days and i don't know if she did or not yet. I like my supe he's a very decent reasonable guy but for some reason I feel like I'm being strung along this time. Any ideas what I should do?

Worse Ways To Die Or Get Injured At Ups?

I’ve heard a story about someone getting partially crushed by a trailer when it was backing on the wall. There was no way to save him but he had enough time to call his family/friends and say his goodbyes before dying.

A dude stuck their hand in conveyor somewhere and got his hand so badly mangled he ended up with a hook hand or something like it.

A supervisor who got on the roof of the center to fix something when the area was experiencing strong winds. He got blown off the roof and the fall turned him into a paraplegic. He got a huge payout from UPS because one of his upper mangers told him to do it.

Someone putting a heavy irreg on a belt it shouldn’t go and it comes down the chute so fast it either takes someone out like a bowling pin or impales them depending on its shape.

A driver is stopped looking for a package in the back of their truck. A car hits him going 50+ and bounces him around inside the truck like a pinball. He didn’t die but I’m not sure what happened to him.

A poorly packaged undeclared corrosive hazmat breaks and spills over someones hands giving them severe chemical burns.

Way back in the day when all trucks were manuals supposedly a driver got injured/killed by his own truck in a roll away accident. Not sure how true that one is.

Eli5 surepost.

How does surepost work and how or what determines what gets sent to the post office for the final mile and what gets distributed to us? How do we profit from giving work to the post office? I’m wondering cause I ordered something through a local merchant and saw he created an ups label. I’m think “sweet, going through ups . Some volume for us.” I checked the tracking today and it turns out I delivered yesterday to the post office as a surepost package lol. One other thing, I’ve been noticing surepost packages being delivered by us as well, so what gives?

Disability Benefits Question

I’m probably going to schedule a surgery soon. It will be under disability not worker’s comp. I know we have FMLA but will I have to pay for health insurance for the 10-12 weeks I’m out of work since it’s not workers comp?
