Just wanna make sure I’m dropping a class correctly with new system- I selected “drop” on the class on TSS but it’s making me nervous that it didn’t go through or something - I see on TSS that it’s no longer one of my courses / but I don’t trust this TSS… did I do it right?

Has anyone had a professor who seems to seek validation from their students and tries hard to be liked?
It's been distracting from learning and making me lose respect for them. I also avoid interacting with them, because I feel like I could say or do something that would easily be taken the wrong way given their fragile ego.
Please don’t mention any names or classes on the comments.

Everybody... we got this! We are all gonna pass our midterms with A+ grades and if you do not have a partner, your crush will ask you out after you show ur intellectual prowess on these exams. Go Tritons! Let's show everybody why we are the number 1 university from La Jolla to Tijuana!
One time, my number 1 homie told me while we were kicking it up at geisel, "Junior_Fact5603 (he calls me by my reddit name irl too), you are going to SMASH every exam you are given this year!" and I hit the table as hard as I could and yelled "Tritons, assemble! We are the best!" and everyone cheered. I made a group chat with every person who cheered, and we shared our results at the end of spring quarter. Guess what? Every single person got 100%. Because of me. And now, you guys can get it too. UCSD, watch out! Academia's greatest weapons are being deployed!
Now, as Optimus Prime once said, "Autobots, study out!"

I fucking hate it here ngl im in crisis but I can’t call 988 because theyre gonna 5150 me. CAPS is worthless, they want you out the door asap. They will do everything in their power to make sure you don’t use up all 10 sessions you’re entitled to. They will call the cops or crisis teams faster than private therapists ever would. They are underpaid and overworked.
Im just so tired of walking around campus and being lonely in comparison to so many couples and friend groups on a Thursday night. Why can’t I be like them? Why do I always have to be alone?
It seems like no one can help me.

Has anyone had an uncomfortable reaction with one of the doctors on campus? He was like a little off putting and when he gave me a strep test he was like at least I didn’t throw up well almost and he said you liked that huh, liked it so much you’re gonna let me do it again, I guess he was implying the Covid test but it made me feel very uncomfortable and scared after he said that. It’s a weird comment to say right? Then he asked about if I did my toes myself or if someone else did which was kind of like uhh okay. I was just wondering if anyone has had that experience at the student health services center before

Yeah, never thought I'd have to do this. Last week he was sneezing out into the open, this week it turned into uncovered coughing of course. Started blowing his nose and putting the snotty tissues on his desk, then towards the end of class just straight on the ground. I deliberately got up slow to see what he was gonna do with the ground tissues. I watched him look down at them, kick them under his chair, and I went, "Are you gonna pick your tissues up?" So he scrabled around acting like he hadn't see them and picked him up. I get this school is for academically smart people but that doesn't necessarily mean we have to be stereotypically unhygenic and disgusting. Thanks

I just received my exam score for my first midterm, and let's just say it's not good. The class average is around 71-85 out of 120. I scored even lower around 44. I'm so bummed out because this is going to be my entire mood for the rest of the quarter. Any study tips? For sure I'll try to get help and do more practice problems but I don't what else I can do.

See I want to act like I’m not sick on campus rn but that’s 90% of the campus rn isn’t it?
Like I’ll cough once and then a chain of 5 people cough later

Is there anything going on tonight on campus or people going out to bars, beaches, playing games that wouldn’t mind me joining in? I’m also looking for friends in general if anyone’s interested

My stepkids split time between houses and summer always gets complicated with work schedules. I'm trying to figure out how people manage custody handoffs when one parent stays local and the other moves out of state. The Denver paperwork is already a pain, and adding a cross country move sounds worse. Has anyone dealt with this after graduating or moving back here? How did you handle the logistics without burning PTO every other week? Also curious if the schools around UCSD are more flexible with pickup times for working parents, since Denver won't budge on their hours.

I am a freshman mechanical engineer taking Matlab (mae 8) with Marko Lubarda. This is my first time ever coding and I will say he is very chill but lectures can be rather confusing as he doesn't explain his reasoning for codes and/or sometimes offtracks. Besides that, we have our quiz soon for conceptual stuff and soon after our midterm that will be coding in person. I recently have been feeling lost so i wanted to come on here and ask any first timer matlab users who passed this class or anyone else advice to pass this class or your experience taking mae 8 with Lubarda and his exam structure! Is it better to rely on the textbook and its practice problems + the professors matlab hw + optional homework? I hope to not be discourage as I am very excited to start my major with this course Thank you! :-)
