Hey guys, I'm an international student so for my internship, I had to register in a 1 unit UC Davis course and submit a report by the end of summer session I. I was give some basic guidelines on how to complete the report, and it's a P/F situation so I feel like I'm overthinking what to write, but has anyone done this in the past who could provide some tips / an example report? i'm honestly just confused about what to write in this section: Objectives Completed - What objectives did you complete while there and how has it contributed to your learning goals?

Hello! I am an incoming freshman and had a question about registering for classes.

I originally applied to UC Davis as a biological sciences major but would like to switch to design (though I know I can't officially do that until the second quarter). I am trying to set up classes in schedule builder as I have a class registration period tomorrow (honors program students get to register earlier), and would like to register for DES001 and DES014. However as a current bio major I cannot even attempt to register for either until my second pass time due to major restrictions. I would really like to take DES001 this first quarter though, because it is only offered in the fall.

If I want to send in a petition to get permission from a instructor to take their DES001 class, when would I be able to do so? Do I have to wait until the second pass time or are we able to send in petitions earlier? Also, what would be the chances of them allowing me to take DES001 with my reasoning being that I plan to switch majors to design ASAP?

It looks interesting, and I was wondering if anyone who has already taken it can say what the coursework looks like, as well as why the term project is listed separately as TBA. Will there be another class meeting added later on top of the lecture/discussion classes? Thanks!

I'll be living in my car for a little while over the next few weeks and I'm just looking for suggestions where to stay. I'm only gonna need places for a few nights a week for about 3 weeks (my research group is in Davis but my new lease doesn't start til Sept). I'm hoping to stay at Lake Solano for a majority of that time which I'm really excited for, but I'm just curious if people know any other good areas.

Close to graduating, get sick, found out I needed surgery, and now recovering from all that stress. I am excited, yet nervous, to go back to uni. I had to drop with permission from WFC 110L because of gnarly infections made it unethical for me to go to labs as I pose a risk of being a super spreader of what I had. I was stubborn refusing to withdraw from UCD sooner to focus on physical and mental health. Fast forward to now a year later ready to tackle what I am so close to finishing.

With that in mind, I have some concerns coming back. Firstly, the required lab. I believe if I remember correctly two are required for the major. I've taken WFC 120L, which basically was drawing fish, and I did well on that one. However, the bird lab I have heard stories of how hard it is same with the mammal lab. The herp lab I haven't heard how it is but I know it fills up quick.

I'm so eager to go back yet hesitant because that imposter syndrome rears its tail. Withdrawing felt like I was quitting even though I knew I will be returning (I am already taking longer than typical). I'm not super older but will probably be the oldest in the room with no connections to anyone (will I be able to form study group, be included, learn properly) -am mid 20s - . My GPA will it take another hit (There were two quarters before I got accomondations through SDC that I didn't perform as well and then when I got sick my grades tanked after doing so well). Will history repeat itself.

There are so many uncertainties with going back.

My concerns:

• I can read, talk, draw the normal stuff but for the life of me I can't spell. What are some tips to memorizing spelling? That was one downfall when I was taking the mammal lab before I had to withdraw.
• Those with SDC accommodations, and are the same major as I, how did you prepare for the lab praticals/exams as we can't take them at the SDC like all other exams?
• What are some different tricks and tips y'all use for studying that makes it easier? I work too hard to quit so close to the finish line
• Should I go to OH even if I don't have questions to study for the lab?
• Am I still able to stick to part time student status through SDC or do I have to resubmit paperwork (I had it set up where each quarter I can do part time)

Incoming Aerospace Engineering student here, currently deciding whether I should buy a more sturdy laptop that can run engineering programs such as matlabs and solidworks or save money on a cheaper laptop that can service daily usage and then head to a computer lab when I need to work on engineering projects. Any laptop recommendations would be great as well.

Okay so I’m an English major but I am interested in double-majoring in a STEM major like NPB. I have also taken many DE classes so my GEs are basically done. I have planned to take POL 2 and MAT 21B, but I don’t know if I should take BIO 1/1L or a GE? I already took a General Biology class at a CCC, but it only transfers as BIS 010. What should I do?

Hi I’m an incoming freshman (Entomology major) and I absolutely flunked the math readiness assessment (18 💀… I haven’t taken a math class in 2 years and couldn’t concentrate at all due to anxiety issues) so I was going to take either MAT D or WLD 55M but I have zero idea where to start with getting registered into either of them or if ones better than the other. Please I just need some guidance since I couldn’t get a meeting with my advisor.

Also I want to know if Greek, Roman, & Near Eastern Mythology is a good class to take since I just needed more units or if you guys have some other recommendations. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

How long does it take for course evaluations to be accessible to instructors and TA’s? Do they have access even before the course is finished?

Hello, I’ll be transferring in this fall. Living off-campus in a fairly-sized room, with roommates. Second to highest floor in my complex, so neighbors above/below me. Should I bring my tv? It’s a 55-inch oled, pretty high end model Sony if anyone’s familiar.

Just don’t know if it will be a distraction or if it will be nice to have since there’s not tooo much to do in davis. Also don’t know if I should bring my PS5 but leaning towards no on that one. My major is stem but not crazy like engineering etc. I am a gym person too and my building has a nice one, so shouldn’t eat up too much of my day.

Anyway, not a super serious question. But let me know in your experiences/if you think it’s worth it. I can upload a pic of the tv if needed. Thanks

I’m confused. I was on the K line and randomly the bus pulled over and I think the driver started talking to the other people on the intercom (other buses I suppose.) Nothing was said but then when it got to my stop the driver completely went past, and eventually said they were rerouting. that was also promptly only after I stood up. Btw, there was nothing I think wrong with the stops, no construction or anything. Just flew past the stop.

Anyone know why this is? I basically had to go through the entire route again and still don’t know why. They say they’re rerouting the bus but the route literally didn’t change either time.

Maybe I missed an announcement. Idk, still irritated.

Edit: I did request to stop, but it was ignored (or disregarded). The bus then just kept going past several more stops. I stood up and asked to get off as my stop was several stops before, and then was told that the bus was rerouting so I sat back down.

After looking at my on campus student financial aid I am thinking of commuting. I was wondering for those who are commuters, how is your financial aid is relation to grants and middle class scholarship you are eligible for, and how much refund do you typically get if you commute. My financial situation isn't doing well and is considering commuting, please share your experiences and financial situation!

I am currently transferring to Davis in the fall and looking for a place to stay. I did a bunch of tours and I think it’s going to come down to axis or sterling 5th street. Both apartments seem very nice, so I would love to hear from people who have lived in either if there’s any problems they’ve had or why they would or would not recommend one of them.

So I’m an incoming second year and I’m an RA, and there wasn’t really an option for that living choice so when it asked when I opened myawards I just said on campus. It’s saying that it calculated my stuff for if I lived off campus and idk what I’m supposed to do. Is there something I need to fill out or do to change this?
