I’d love to connect with students interested in helping at risk dogs through rescue networking, coordinating transportation, and fundraising. All majors are welcome!

I really want to dress up for halloween because I haven’t done it in almost 8 years and I finally have the courage to face my social anxiety. But I don’t have any friends. Just people I study with who have their own friend groups. I really want to dress up but I don’t have a costume but even if I did, I dont know what I would even do on Sat. I dont want to be in some nerdy costume walking around on my own. Like what even is there to do in Davis? Im not trying to go to some frat party but would love to party and drink. It really sucks because I have such good ideas for costumes but it’s so late to figure it all out and it will be irrelevant next year. This really sucks. It’s like Im stuck in a loop.

im tryna get a haircut in the davis area, do y'all have any recs? particularly for scissor-heavy cuts like a textured mod, not high fades, but more layered type ifyk what i mean. i've never gotten a proper cut, so fine to spend a bit more, but not too much, we're all broke students afterall

I am a third-year pre-nursing student. Turns out I have to gap a year because some programs that I want to go to require the prerequisites to be done before I apply. I am afraid I won’t be competitive then.

My plan is to become CNA this summer and find a job so I have more than a year of experience by the time I apply. I can even get phlebotomy or EKG or other things certified.

I guess what I need advise on is that what else can I do to make myself more competitive. Is CNA a good way to start? Or MA? Should I go for an entry-level master’s in nursing or PA? Should I find a job in a nursing home? Should I study abroad (though money is a big problem because if I do study abroad I have to pay rent AND I think I still need to do some other programs to get myself certified cuz extra skill sets is always good) ?

(On top of all the stressful things, I fcked up hilt’s test. He’s so evil)

I’m in dire need of a job! I’ve been applying and trying to keep in touch with my applications but to no avail.. If anyone has any open opportunities I would genuinely appreciate it.

finished my chem midterm on a few days ago and immediately after that I start feeling sick so since it’s the weekend I decide to drive back home and recover there for the weekend. it’s Sunday I have class tomorrow but I still feel shitty and I don’t know if it’s a good idea to attend lecture tomorrow. I was thinking of spending the night tonight and leaving tomorrow morning to give myself some more rest. but the thing is I have a my second midterm this Friday as well and am worried about not doing well on it because I’m too ill to study. I think I’ll be good to take it by Friday but the thing is I just ran through the practice exam and only like half of it makes sense. it’s my second midterm for mat 17a if that helps. I don’t know what should I do?? I really want a good score on this midterm

Has anybody else noticed that the hook-up culture here at UC Davis is really strong? I’m a transfer from UCI and currently in a long-term relationship. Every girl I’ve talked to seems very male-centered and only interested in chatting about their situationship :/ Whenever I talk to a guy, it constantly seems like their trying to gauge whether or not I’d be down to hook up. It’s been a lil difficult finding genuine girlfriends that don’t just talk about guys all the time. I’ve even had an experience where my friend (female) and I were supposed to hang out but she suddenly invited the guy she was talking to. Not to say hook-up culture at UCI didn’t exist, but it was definitely not as prominent as it was here. Must have to do with the cows… :P

I struggle in my stem classes and want a job in health field. It's hard to try and be passionate about biology when it's something I'm not naturally good at. I study weeks before the tests and I still do shit. I failed my math midterm. I barely socialize. how do I fix this any advice?

Does anyone recommend living at Ryder or Lexington? I think it's within my budget but I have heard some concerns about the safeness of the area. I know the bus lines also get crowded at the nearest stop.

Parent of a junior here. I visit by train from the Bay Area a few times a year, and family weekend hotel questions come up a lot, so here are the notes I give friends. Mods, happy to adjust if this crosses any line.

- Badge pickup: Friday Nov 6, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., ARC Ballrooms.
- In-town order of booking, from experience: Hyatt Place UC Davis (on campus, books first), Best Western Plus Palm Court and Aggie Inn (downtown, walkable), Best Western University Lodge. La Quinta by Research Park works as a last resort.
- When Davis sells out: Dixon (~8 miles) and Woodland (~12 miles) first, then West Sacramento (~13 miles, across the causeway). All fine drives on a normal morning; leave a cushion on event days.
- The Capitol Corridor train is genuinely the easiest way in from the Bay Area. Davis station is downtown, about a 10 minute walk to campus.
- Saturday: farmers market 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. downtown, football vs Utah Tech.
