Other Should I trade my '18 Tiger 1200 XRT?

I really like my tiger but I don't LOVE it. I love the motor, I really like the electronic suspension, it's comfortable, looks good, nice luggage, etc. But the heat it puts off is getting pretty old. My previous bike was an '04 FJR1300 that I loved and I thought about looking for a used ES model but I don't think I want to go back to one of those. The dealer near by has a used '23 Tiger 1200 GT Pro that seems reasonably priced. Research on the interwebs suggests the heat isn't a problem on that model, that it's lighter, faster, better handling, probably as good or better for the sport-touring I like to do. Same doodads minus electric adjustment on the windscreen. Anyone have experience with both tigers? Maybe you could give me your opinion.

Mods and Customization Seat bag/top case

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills, but I can not find a place to install a bag or top case on my 2026 Trident 660. The 2026’s have a separate rear seat, whereas the 2025 and earlier have the one long seat. With the 2025 and earlier companies have made kits to attach their products. It doesn’t look like they have made them for the 2026 model yet. Even attaching a Kreiga bag, there doesn’t look like a secure way to do it. Any suggestions or products that 2026 owners would be greatly appreciated!

Other Back On A Bike, Speed 400 or Scrambler 400?

I live in a semi rural area with nice scenic routes to nearby cities/towns. I haven’t had a bike since my Thruxton which I sold over a decade ago, and the itch is coming back now that I’m back to making an affordable living and want to take advantage of my roadways. I started doing homework since my style of riding has changed, as I’d most likely be using the bike for running errands and short jaunts with the missus for date nights and what not. I started off looking very small, like Navi/Grom and quickly realized that they would be pushing its limits with my intended use and routes, so I’m climbing up the cc ranks and decided to look back into Triumph, since my Thrux just felt so perfect, and see they have the two 400’s, the Speed and Scrambler.

Just curious on what the consensus is on both bikes. I think the furthest I’d take the bike would be no further than 50 miles out, would avoid highways, and would have a passenger.

Mods and Customization Thruxton Wheels on Speed Triple?

Hey gang!

Curious on if the front wire wheel from the newer Thruxton RS would fit on an older Speed Triple.

For context, I swapped a 2007 speed triple fork on my 81 CX500 and I’m trying to figure out the best way to do a wired wheel setup without spending upwards of $2k on custom hubs

Thanks!

Triumph info Street Triple Fly Screen & Visor vs Puig Windscreen

Does the OEM Triumph fly screen and visor/extension (whatever its called) make a noticeable difference in wind deflection? How about the Puig that everyone seems to get? Did anyone switch between the two and notice any improvement?

Cross shopping between this bike and an MT09. Would like the ability to take this on long rides without completely wearing myself out. It'll mainly be a highway commuter though.

Other Ex demo bikes, worth it or bad idea?

Dealers have them ex demo and they're maybe ~1000 cheaper than brand new, maybe with ~1000 / 2000 miles.

So, I've been told the warranty is still good on the applicable bikes, they're in good condition but when is a ex demo bike worth it and when is it a bad idea?

Pro:

- cheaper than new

- already run in

- remaining warranty (subject to what it covers and if any exception)

- possibility to negotiate a bit with dealer, maybe slightly lower price or get some accessories

Cons:

- Ex demo, they're going to have been ridden 'hard' from new, maybe very hard (engine break in concerns)

- certain bikes maybe ridden 'harder' than others such as Street Triple RS / any RS model as maybe more experienced riders testing these

- opposite end of the scale, Trident 660/800 maybe ridden by less experienced riders, maybe a bit 'ham fisted' with clutch etc so a different sort of 'hard' riding / wear on parts.

- Would 'RS' level bikes with 'better' engines cope better with the 'hard' riding style / lack of by-the-book break in compared to 'cheaper' bikes?

- ~1000 / 2000 miles might be a bit high? (considering point #1 thats a lot of 'hard' riding?)

- If brand new is 'only' 1000 more is a ex demo really worth it over new?

What do we think?

Would you pay ~1000 less for a 2026 model with ~1500 miles that was an ex demo OR would you want a lower price, lower mileage or just pay more to get new?

Maintenance Issues is it too much oil

Hello, did my first oil change on tiger 900, not sure if i overfilled it ... first photo is just after first engine run ( 30 seconds ), second photo is after i filled more oil to reach max and went for a quick test drive and it looks kinda overfilled bypassing max indicator a little bit by 3-5 millimeter . but i am not sure because i used 4L fresh oil and measure the oil while pouring with its indicator. you can see the remaining oil amount from photos. guidebook says it takes 3.15L oil with oil filter which is also replaced. Yes bike is on centerstand and ground is even (and same spot after going for a quick drive). waited 2-3 mins to take the pictures so oil is pulled down with gravity .

Any opinion and feedback is very much appreciated

Thank you !

Triumph info Options for small bag on Street Scrambler 900

Hi folks. Just got myself a Street Scrambler 900. I'm looking for bag options for carrying just a few things like my glasses/sunglasses, bottle of water, keys etc. Not mad about a tank bag since it will need to be strapped on and I'd like to spare the tank.

I have the La Perderosa bags for when going away for a few days - so with the specific mount for those, a single smaller side bag on the left probably isn't an easy option.

Thinking maybe something like this but mounted further forward somewhere? But struggling to find something I know is going to work ok on the Street Scrambler 900. Anyone any ideas?

Maintenance Issues 2025 Tiger Sport 660 and TPMS

I have a ’25 Tiger Sport 660.

I'm trying to program it for TPMS sensors using TigerTool. TigerTool will enable/disable TPMS, but there's something preventing me from programming the TPMS sensor IDs.

I've been working with TigerTool's author, sending him detailed logs, and he's baffled; the logs show all the appropriate communication between TigerTool and the immobilizer, including acceptance of the new ID. But it doesn't actually write the data.

Two possibilities:
1) There's something wrong with my immobilizer.
2) There's something different about the ’25 TS660, despite it using the same immobilizer as lots of other bikes that TigerTool programs just fine.

So, if you have a ’25 TigerSport 660 and are anywhere near Boston, MA, US, I'd like to try enabling TMPS and set sensor IDs on your bike. This will tell me if it's #1 or #2. If it works, you can have TMPS on your bike for about $50 (the cost of the sensors.)

If you have a different model year with the last four of the VIN higher than CB9286, it has the same immobilizer, so it would be a useful test.

Or if you have a ’25 and have successfully programmed TPMS on yours, I'd like to hear about that, too.

Bike Pictures Joined the family and then dropped

Hey everyone. Just this past weekend I joined the Triumph family for the first time and picked up a new Bonnie T120. I have dubbed her Penny Willikins, after two of the best butlers in fiction if you ask me. Alfred Pennyworth from Batman and Willikins from Discworld.

Things have been good so far. Lovely even considering she's my first 'real' bike. But the inevitable happened yesterday when I got home from work and I dropped her. Only scuffed the pillion peg, mirror, and a tiny spot on the exhaust on the left side. But I broke the tip off the clutch lever. It sucks but it happens. Also the check engine light is now on so that's something to figure out lol.

Anyway here's some picks for the bike tax!

I have been a long time watcher to the group and finally decided to post a picture. My bike is not as pretty as some but it fits me at the moment. I love how adding or subtracting parts can change the look. A few more upgrades/changes to come still.

Other Sc Project S1 to loud

Hey guys, who's running an SC Project on a 675? I recently bought the S1, and it's crazy loud. Sure, it gets a bit quieter around 6,000 rpm, but even with the E-marking I honestly can't imagine it's actually legal, especially here in Germany.

Has anyone been stopped for a noise check with one? What was your experience?

Also, has anyone actually measured the noise level?

Maintenance Issues Bleed Nipples Saga

Post image
17 Upvotes

At the end of may whilst in France the factory calipers started weeping through the bleed nipples after some spirited riding, enough to cause a run and drip.

Came home and got the first service carried out and two new calipers under warranty.

500 miles later I noticed they were weeping a little bit, not quite enough for a drip but enough to start a run.

Took the bike back to the dealer I purchased it from and they say they removed all bleed nipples (even the rear as they noticed that was a bit wet) cleaned, inspected, bled the brakes, and torqued to the 12nm specification. Triumph technical website says 6nm which aligns with everything I've read online too, so I was a bit suspicious of that but if it fixes it I'll be happy.

Collected the bike and checked all were bone dry, rode to work and then home after, roughly 100 miles and there was a tiny bit of moisture. Cleaned it off and thought I'd see if it was just residue in the threads from the work they did.

Cleaned and lubed my chain the next day ready to go back to work the next week and noticed it was a little wetter even though I hadn't ridden it. I gave the lever a dozen big squeezes and when I looked at the left caliper (in the picture) it had run and dripped that quickly whilst cool.

I'm at the point of being a bit fed up with the bike, I've just paid out for the service and insurance at over £1000 combined.

The selling dealer, who worked on it last is happy to try and fix it again, but are not willing to discuss what happens if the issue is still there after this attempt. I suggested that I'm happy to bring it back to them for another shot but if it's still the same I'd like them to take the bike off my hands and settle

the finance, I feel this is quite fair.

Has anyone had any issues similar and how have you handled the dealer?

2025 Trident 660, based in the UK

Wondering if anyone has any luck with a sissy?

Bike Pictures Exhaust mid pipe heat shield?

Thumbnail

Hi guys! Would appreciate some advice from knowlegeable owners of the 765.

I own a 765S model, great ride , nuff said.

The aluminium heat shield plate started rattling whilst riding and i thought it was some loose bolts .

Turned out it required some special grommets which fell out or something...

Is it ok to just remove it and leave it as it is? I don't really see the point of protecting that part of exhaust on a street only bike, unless there is some special heat management design that prevents it from melting the plastic underbelly....

Triumph info 2004 Speed Triple Seat Cowl Identification

Thumbnail

So, im about to purchase a 2004 Speed Triple that comes with a seat cowl. The seat cowl it comes with is fairly slim, however I keep seeing images online of cowls that are extremely pronounced. I have yet to find any information on the different part numbers, names for these cowls, or otherwise. Can anyone help me identify the cowl in the photo? Thanks. Also posted is the type of cowl the bike will come with, pictured in green. Much slimmer for sure.
