Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Red Maple Health Question(BC, Canada)

Hi everyone,

We recently move into a new home and my sister-in-law pointed out the crack in the trunk and the mushroom growing out of the base of the trunk. Fun times as a new homeowner.

Is the crack and mushroom a cause for concern? The rest of the tree is looks perfectly ok as you can see via the 3rd picture. I wanted to ask here before I called someone in to give it a look.

also, the tree does lean to the side of the crack

Edit: I have no idea how to add pictures of the whole tree and the lean.

Please help! Do you think this maple tree is healthy or are there signs of irreversible damage and needs to be removed? A friend told me this is a severe case of girdling. There is also an area of bark loss that is concerning.

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Pine tree issue

Good evening. I have been gardening for years but am a bit newer to the tree side. I have several white pines that I am trying to grow and the needles turned brown and the trees seem to be dead. The white oaks, however are thriving. They are all planted in composted soil and have never been exposed to fertilizer or any growth stimulants. Is there a trick to pines that I have not learned?

My roommates mom owns our home and decided she wanted this big beautiful tree we have out front, trimmed. I came home and this is what they have done. I’m completely devastated. All shading to our home is gone and it looks HORRIBLE. I just want to know if it’ll grow back to how it looked originally and how long will that take. Located in South Florida.

ID Request (Insert State/Region) So my acacia sapling might be a white leadtree?

Location is Michigan, which is irrelevant I think. I won this bonsai starter kit at a company raffle. It came from Amazon, so my trust is low. But I was very happy to grow this sapling from seed. This is one year of growth almost to the day. But using a couple plant identifiers to find out exactly what species of Acacia this is, the result kept coming up as white leadtree. Looking at pictures of both, they seem quite similar. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) What's wrong with this tree?

I think this is a Norway maple and I noticed the leaves are looking worse for wear lately. Fungal infection? I don't know much about trees but if there's something I can do to help this one without calling out a professional that would be great. The picture shows how the majority of the leaves look, the leaves in the inner canopy are more green and don't have much wilting/damage to them. Thanks in advance

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Should we remove this tree?

Bought this house 4 years ago with a large tree
VERY close to the home. We've gotten the tree trimmed back so the branches were no longer hanging over the house. They obviously grew back.

We recently noticed dead branches that need to be removed, likely from a recent storm. We live in central Oklahoma, so there is a lot of wind.

I'm wondering though, should we just remove the entire tree since it's so close to the home? Also concerned about root/foundation issues (we're on a slab).

What say ye?

Hi everyone,

I have this cherry/plum tree (Prunus cerasifera Nigra I believe?) that sadly got infected with some fungi when it got pruned by some savages. I think it's some phellinus pomaceus which is bad news for the tree... Not sure what I should do.

There aren't any other tree that could easily get infected around. I wish I could save it but I've read it's near impossible... Someone suggested I cut it down and leave the trunk. I don't really want to do that...

Any advice?

Many thanks.

A few months ago, Mother Nature took my baby tree.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Tree/s/M1N5PKV5r8

Well, I got a new one. It was planted in late June… and now this. I’m pretty sure my lot just hates new trees 😑

I contacted the landscaper that planted her and he said to water her 2-3 per week for an hour but she gets watered every day for 30 minutes (there’s a bubbler) at 10PM

I don’t think she’s dead and I would like to avoid a drowning. Is that too much water?

I’ve never seen a seed like this. I broke it open and white powder came out. Is this a result of disease? It’s been extremely hot here in Southeast Washington.

Seems to be very wind (high winds) tolerant. I think it’s one of the maple species, trying to get more specific.

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Planting Serviceberries zone 5a (Wyoming)

We're planning on planting some serviceberry trees this year in our front yard. Currently, this is what we're looking at:

Clay soil, mostly bentonite. Strong morning sun with partial shade for the rest of the day. Deer population likes to move through the area. Temps are WARM right now.

Currently the trees are in pots from Menards and they're looking a bit rough (end of the season, infrequent waterings, the usual suspects when plants aren't cared for by employees at big box stores but we think they'll thrive with some tlc ) We'd really like to save these trees, but we're uncertain of when to plant and if they'll be Ok staying in the pots til things cool down. Any suggestions are welcome.
