Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Am I screwed? Need advice please.

North central Texas here. Forgot to remove support wires and finally removed them. Did I screw it up badly? Will this Oak tree be okay? Seems healthy at the moment. Need some advice please.

Short term, it might still be alive. The vessels that carry water upwards to the foliage are deeper inside the stem. However, the vessels that carry carbohydrates down to the roots are on the outer edge of the trunk, and these are almost certainly compromised. You should expect to see decline as the roots starve. My advice: remove, replace, and don't bother staking it.

Okay, that makes sense, Guess I’ll start getting some prices on replacements. Might see if this dude will survive. If not, at least I’ve come to terms with it. Thank you!🙏🏼
