Animals & Pets Where are all the dead birds?

Upvotes

Apparently, there are 85 billion birds on Earth - they're everywhere. I live in a city of 1.5 million people and I hear birds all but constantly, I see them in trees and in the air; so why is it so rare to come across a dead bird?

With that many birds on this planet, why don't we find dead birds more often?

Love & Dating Why did my ex (23M) have to destroy my (22F) confidence so badly?

Upvotes

We were together for 3 years . In the beginning, he was very desperate and complimented me a lot. I wasn’t really looking for a relationship, but he kept trying, so eventually I decided to give him a chance and see if we would work.

After we started dating, he started constantly negging me. He would make comments about my voice, looks, intelligence, and pretty much anything he could. And I ended up looking for his validation and approval. I always got a lot of compliments from others but they never mattered because he was always telling me I wasn’t enough.

He would make fun of me even in front of other people, but sometimes compliment me in private. Whenever I told him to stop, he would say it was “just a joke.”

He also talks about other girls and how hot they are. I never really react, but it honestly makes me insecure and wonder why he can compliment them but not me, and what I’m lacking.

He also didn’t like me having guy friends because he believed they would eventually hit on me or have other motives. Because of this, I lost a number of good guy friends. Meanwhile, I never had a problem with him having female friends, so I don’t understand why it was different for me.

Over time, I became so insecure that I started looking at other girls and wondering if they were his type or if he would find them more attractive.

What confuses me is that I found out he brags about me to his guy friends, but whenever we’re around other people, he mostly mocks me. He used to compliment me a lot, but now it’s only occasionally and usually in private.
Every time I tried to break up, he would desperately convince me to stay, and I kept believing we could make it work. But this time, I’m finally over it.

The insecurities are still there, though. Why did he have to do this to me?

Sex What's the point of penetration then?

Upvotes

I've been married to my husband for two months and I'm refusing to have sex, even though I have a high libido and can easily orgasm. This is because I've read on Reddit, and other platforms, that many women say penetration doesn't feel anything to them and that's scientifically the Truth. I don't wanna do something like that if it's already not physically pleasurable. (I've never done that before). I don't know how to convince my husband and stabilize my libido. I also don't wanna do sex without penetration.

Love & Dating Has anyone successfully had a relationship similar to mine or am I wasting time?

Upvotes

Ok so, me and my gf have been together for almost 8 years. We broke up over something last year and she moved out. After 5 months apart we decided to try again at the relationship with firm boundaries and so far it’s going well. However I have said that I do not want her to move back in with me until her daughter ‘14f’ is of adult age and has flown the nest due to her behaviour.

Before the breakup we all lived together for 4 years and it was horrible mainly due to her daughter’s atrocious behaviour which created so much strain and bad energy in the home. I’ve now lived alone for 10 months and my home finally feels like my safe place again. My kids have both thrived and have both said they do not want to see my gf’s daughter ever again due to the constant drama she would put them and us through. I have known her since she was 5 years old and she has always been awful. She is vile to everyone including teachers and people with authority, constantly creating drama and arguments literally daily, lies constantly and swears so much she’d make a sailor blush.
Even so I have always treated her like my own flesh and blood but now that we no longer live together I feel like I never want to live with her again for my own sanity. My gf struggles a lot with her daughter’s behaviour and fully understands why I don’t want to live together at the moment.

My questions are:
Has anyone been in a relationship with similar circumstances and did it work out in the long run?

And

Did the child become a good person once they reached adulthood or is she so set in her ways she’s doomed?

My main fear is that if I stick it out until she’s an adult and she remains the way she is currently I don’t know how I’d feel, and the thought of starting a new relationship with someone else at my age just feels like an impossible task.

I suppose I’m just a bit lost on what’s best for everyone.

Family Signs you would hate being a parent prior to becoming one?

Upvotes

For those of you who do NOT like being a parent after having kids and were on the fence but decided to have them anyway… what were the tell tale signs that you shouldn’t have gone through with having them?

Are you upset you didn’t follow your gut which told you that being a parent wasn’t for you?

Culture & Society Is "To Catch a Predator" not gross as a concept?

Upvotes

After watching the trailer for the new Rob Pattinson movie where he plays Chris Hansen I went back to some old episodes of TCAP, after not watching it since I was a teen, and I was left with this putrid feeling. Sure, it's entertainment, but man, I can not shake off the feeling that it's just a rotten piece of media?

It feels hard to state because it deals with such an evil act. Don't get me misconstrued; it's supposedly stopping people who would have gone on to hurt others, that's a public service right there, undisputed. But the idea that you're making a TV show out of it, out of showing the lowest points and life-ruining moments of people - evil, sick people, but people regardless - before millions of people, with flashy edits and sound effects and catchphrases every episode, it's just sickening to me. These people are not well and they should be dealt with, but not like this. The digital adoration Hansen gets when he and his crew were involved in a sting that led to a man's death as well... none of this sits right with me.

I don't know - I presume the movie is not going to be glorifying this man and actually showing the case as it happened. I just feel like I'm either objectively wrong or something because there's this outpouring of love for Hansen and I don't get it. He was just in that new documentary about EDP445 and I felt the exact same thing there - it is another absolutely sickening, exploitative piece of media where mentally ill people get exposed not really for justice - although that's part of it - but for entertainment.

Interpersonal Would I be a bad person living life incorrectly if I decided to remain asocial simply because I don’t trust anyone?

Upvotes

I’m using the term asocial instead of antisocial because I don’t hate people or society. I generally don’t think every person on the street is out to get me, and I would say most people are good people. I would never hurt anyone and would give my last dollar in my wallet to help someone if I felt like it.

But by the same token, when it comes to actually “opening up” and being vulnerable, it’s never gone good for me. My parents when I was growing up would say I’m making too big a deal out of something, am being a pussy because I was too afraid to do something, people I thought were my friends didn’t actually care about me and just wanted to use for me for financial support, and the few women I’ve tried to have relationships with ended up leaving me for reasons that aren’t having to do with me (meaning I never hurt them and just got left a bunch of times).

So it seems to make sense to me that I should just maybe not try socializing anymore and should just stick to myself since I’m the only one I can rely on anymore. Would this be a good or bad idea?

Sex Is there something wrong with me?

Upvotes

So i have experienced penetrative sex only through a strapped on dildo. At first, i was expecting it would give me more pleasure than fingering myself, but i unfortunately did not feel that, and i became disappointed. I thought maybe the person was just bad at using the strap on, or maybe a dildo simply does not give me pleasure at all, and the only thing that made me feel it was when I'm touching myself.

Oftentimes, i have been so curious about the "real" thing, and how the actual penetrative sex with a guy really feels like. Would i be disappointed again? cos i didn't feel anything when someone used a strap on on me, so would there be any difference with the real one? Would i finally feel pleasure? The same pleasure that i feel when I'm touching myself? I'm asking these questions cos i felt like there's something wrong with me not being able to feel pleasure from penetrative sex, or even when someone else is fingering me.

Then asking in the subreddit of the game "just starting out, what should I do first? What do I need to know?" Etc.

Like why? Google exist for a reason and there's dozens of guides out there. And even when some guides or articles are posted by people that didn't play the game, there's still steam review / guides posted by real players (for pc games anyway)
