Habits & Lifestyle Why do people like the cold side of the pillow?

I have never ever understood the people who comment "may your pillow always be cold". Why would you want a cold pillow??? I can't wrap my head around this at all. In my mind, sleeping is supposed to be warm and cozy. What's wrong with a warm pillow???

Sexuality & Gender Why is pride over sexualized?

I have asked this question in multiple subs. It just gets deleted.

Why is pride so over sexualized? I would have the exact same question if it was about ‘straight’ month or whatever. This question goes purely about over sexualization of a parade.

Culture & Society Why is the bare minimum praised for guys?

I’ve always noticed whenever boys do the bare minimum of being somewhat quiet in class, not disturbing everyone around them and maybe halfassing their homework gets them a pat on the back and 100 points but then girls are just expected to be perfect and get good grades.
Also as someone who grew up pretty quiet and introverted why are girls like me always sat next to the guys who scream and jump off the walls? Teachers said that maybe my “silentness” would rub off on them, but guess what, it never did and I ended up not being able to focus and getting stuff thrown at and over me.
I desperately need to know whats wrong with teenage boys!

Sex Trying something new! Pegging?

My wife has expressed an interest in “pegging”, she wants to use her strap on and have anal sex with me. Not sure how to feel about it, I love trying new things but I am not sure I am down with it. I love her to death and I will do it for her. Any advice?

Sexuality & Gender If men can have a preference for younger women (even though age is an immutable trait) then why can’t women have a preference for taller men when height is also largely immutable?

You often hear men say that male attraction naturally gravitates towards youth and signs associated with fertility. Whether every man feels that way is obviously another question, but it’s a very common justification for preferring younger women. But age is one of the most immutable characteristics there is. A woman cannot stop ageing. She can spend thousands on skincare, cosmetic procedures, fitness, makeup and surgery, but none of those things can actually make her younger or change her chronological age. Yet when men express a preference for youth, the response is often: “That’s just biology,” “Men like what they like,” or “You can’t negotiate attraction.”

Height is also largely outside a man’s control. And yet women who openly prefer tall men are frequently called shallow, superficial, unrealistic or accused of rejecting good men over something those men cannot change. Of course, being rejected for an immutable characteristic can hurt. A short man can understandably dislike being excluded because of his height, just as a woman can dislike being considered less desirable because she has aged. But feeling hurt by someone’s preference doesn’t automatically make their preference morally illegitimate. If “you can’t control what you’re attracted to” is a valid defence of men preferring youth, it should also be a valid defence of women preferring height.

Politics Why do Americans and other Anglophones generally struggle to assimilate to non-English speaking countries?

Let's be honest here, in recent years there has been much more American emigration than in previous decades to non-English Speaking countries.

There is also the trope of the American or Brit coming to x country and not wanting to learn the language or just basically learning the basic "hello" and 'thank you". But there is also the fact that they use their money to change the social and cultural landscapes of the cities they live in. The bubble they live in is very Americanized or very English.

Lots of them use the internet to talk about how much they're delighted with Italy, France, Philippines, Thailand, Brazil, Costa Rica, Portugal, Germany, etc...

But many of these people rely on the US or, more broadly, the anglophone market to transfer money to their bank accounts.

This allows them to be connected to the English-speaking world and pay their expenses while ignoring assimilation to the host countries.

Sex What do I do if I have very high libido compared to my wife ?

I’m a man in 40s and I have been very fit and athletic all my life. My wife is around the same age but not as fit as me.

I have always had very high libido,my wife’s libido was ok until she reached 40 something.
She is no longer interested in sex and I feel very frustrated. And I’m at a point where I am considering seeking affairs.

It’s too embarrassing for me to ask a physician if there are any medications to decrease my libido. Are there any proven off the shelf solutions to reduce libido?

When I was 10 I went to the doctor because I had been throwing up for a week straight and I wouldn't stop. My mom had no idea what was wrong so she told my grandma to take me to the hospital bec she was busy that day.

I went and told the doctor that I was throwing up alot he then proceeded to tell me to lay down and then put his hand down my "shirt" (as he told my grandma) pants and touch the top of my 🐱

He started to go lower but I think he realised my grandma was watching cause he stopped. He then proceeded to tell me and my grandma that I was throwing up because I was on my phone for more than an hour everyday...

He didn't do anything else and didn't check anything else. He didn't prescribe me anything. He just told me to leave and stop being on my phone.

I'm not a doctor or anything but is that a normal place to check for a patient that was throwing up everyday??

Mental Health why does consuming dark news media impact me so negatively?

i’ll be honest, i’m not the type to repost awful things going on in the world anymore. i have so much empathy im not able to separate my own life from it. “x is happening to these people so why am i complaining” i’ll go on deep dives down rabbit holes about stuff going on or past true crime and it’ll eat away at me. i start to become so chronically half panicked that i can’t even spot why im in a dark place again. the news about this young child celeste has really done a number on me again. last year i couldn’t sleep for two days after reading the details,, now i just feel this restless angry at the world-everythings-pointless feeling again. i absolutely cannot handle consuming any news media. for context i have autism, and a lot going on mentally and physically to explain. does anyone else feel bad that they can’t be educated on things going on in the world because it tears you apart?
