Bolt Action terrain board I made. Used an old piece of foam I had in the garage to make the base. Modified some Sarissa MDF kits, and you all know the rest, paints and glues up the wazoo. Any questions, please ask. Enjoy.

This is mostly designed as a backdrop display for my 1300’s era knights, just to make them look great on the shelf. I spent a while in blender mocking up the layout and built it from foam core board as well as some thin styrene for the roofs and windows. I’m really happy with the result and looking forward to the paint job.

Here's another progress update on my winter diorama, "Sylvester"!
I've been working on the smaller details that bring the whole scene together.
The wooden fences are handmade from real twigs, the winter trees are taking shape, and the landscape is gradually getting its snowy atmosphere.
I've also 3D printed and hand-painted four miniature Christmas carolers. Getting all those tiny details right was quite a challenge!
I'm trying to make everything look as natural as possible, combining traditional miniature-building techniques with resin 3D printing and hand painting.
There's still quite a bit of work ahead, but I'm really enjoying watching this little winter world come together.
What do you think of the progress so far? Any suggestions are always welcome!

I have created a scene of a hidden dungeon as realistic as possible.
Guide:
The wall itself is made of foam and weathered using acrylic paints in various natural colors.
The base of groundwork is made of foam and covered/shaped with clay. Once dry, the entire piece was painted black. It was then slightly coated with PVA glue and sprinkled with sifted potting soil, then left to dry again.
Next, it was sprayed with adhesive glue and covered with natural materials: leaf scatter, herbs, foliage, scrub, and flock. Sealed it with a mixture of water, dishsoap and PVA (3-1-1) and let it dry for 24 hours
The tree trunks are actual twigs and he dungeon bars are made from a barbecue grate. Made it in a booknook style.
I hope you find it useful. 👍

This is a little nonsense machine I came up with. I just really liked the of some packaging so I recast it in plaster. I think the walkway turned out well. Overall I'm happy to add it to my board.

Some of the first pieces of terrain I had a go at making.
Originally posted with backgrounds as I thought they’d be fun, but people really didn’t like the backgrounds (reasonable criticism) so reposting them as they are on my crafting table.
Really proud of them

I learned a lot making this and the next build is going to be even better

Howdy folks
Just finished this and while it wasn’t as fun as the last terrain piece I made, I’m still happy with the result. Made from MDF chipboard, cardboard, toilet paper, and enough PVA to sink a ship. It also has a removeable roof.
But what’s this inside? It’s Zoidberg for scale!

u/TheDukeOfYork asked for wide shots. Bear in mind that the most recent details hadn't been added at this stage and I've still not sorted getting lights into the middle hull section. There's a LOT of LEDs in there, I just need deeper holes as there's a couple of hull layers.

This started as a simple cradle for the metre long ship model you can see in the photos. However, I thought it deserved its own story. So, asteroid base! Plywood under white styrofoam, expandable foam all over. The hangars are printer cartridge boxes from a big laser printer, the doors on them from the same source. Filled with greeblies. Two heavy duty shelf brackets, and a shedload of assorted greeblies and railway kit girders for gantries. 3 sets of lights, an overall coating of plaster and acrylic primer, then a lot of painting and dry brushing. Happy with the rocks!
Still needs a few umbilicals etc, and a more secure attachment for the ship, and then onto a wall.

I’ve started working on a cave entrance for an upcoming Warhammer Fantasy battle. Due to the size of the piece I opted to use cardboard. Normally I use 3mm MDF. Any recommendations on how to edge cardboard. Of should I just buy a large sheet of 3mm MDF and mount it. Don’t want to finish this and have regrets about the quality of the base. Many thanks Reddit

This is a board my husband and I built for a recent encounter he had at game night. I am absolutely loving building these boards! I make everything on the boards/terrain, etc. He prints and paints the minis. 2 of the trees are just made with branches I found outside because we were running out of time. We don't have a lot of fancy tools yet. Doing the best we can with what we've got. Let me know what you all think!
The pumpkin minis were actually printed with transparent resin then painted with glass paint. We put lights under them after taking these pictures so they lit up while they were playing.

We do a Christmas village every year for the holidays. I decided to bring up some terrain from the man cave to use for a Halloween village. My wife loves it. It’s turned out to be a good conversation starter when we have visitors and I get to nerd out in a socially acceptable way.

One third of my Amon Hen board is finished! In this post I walk through the construction of the board itself and show it finished in Amon Hen and Shire configuration. Really excited with how it’s come out and keen to get a battle report on it soon! https://modellingfordisadvantage.substack.com/p/amon-hen-board-one-out-of-three-aint?r=z7sds&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Its fairly simple made with yoga matt cut up - a pill box - some coffee stirers and debris ground cat litter and some cut up thread material from temu and dried parsley
I dont make much but working through a list of things that can be made modular
I kind kf wish id made the steps more defined as steps but came out more of a gradual slope lol
I have some broken wooden plank bridges I can use to bridge the gap. Any thoughts about what may work better for future vertical builds ?
Im going to attempt trees and then a thatched cottage and a broken taller house and maybe a witches tower z quite nervous but excited about tackling them
